So what does everyone think?
what game do you think has the best "end game" and why?
Mine its Eve, most would consider 0.0 "end game" however being as eve is a sandbox there really isnt a end game per say.
Just goals.
Now as far as traditional dungeon raidiing games going to have to go with EQ2.

I wish I could even get to end game.
I always get bored with the... Middle... Game.... Part... Thingy....
I'd have to say I prefer the start of the game, getting your character started.
I always see how fast I can level up to get to where I was before.
Then I start over.
.... Kill me.... Someone....
For me the best end game was DAOC old frontiers before Trials of Atlantis. It was so great because you were playing against other players to try to achieve realm goals. Getting to the end game was reasonable, you held your own against other players and there were THREE realms....
(edit typo...)
Well this question of yours is pretty much going to depend on a person to person basis. Seeing how everyone has a different outlook on what they want for "end game" content whether it be PvP, PvE, or a combination of both. Many games also have different aspects that revolve around end game also.
For me the problem of end game is that I only play one game at a time and I am going to give it my all. End game for me can last for a good while depending on how much is released and how quickly. I loved SWG mainly because I love PvP and then the whole community base they used to have before the initial CU. I loved WoW end game for raiding especially when I was main tanking.... which is the role I tend to want to fill in any game I play now a days because even if it gets repetitive it can still be a challenge because the whole group/raid can fail if you make even a single mistake sometimes.
Thing that killed WoW for me again after the whole ICC full release is that the guild I was in had a lot of people and a few different groups. I didnt get to MT even for the 10 man group I ran because I had to run as DPS in 25 man. So I leave WoW dead and buried on my portable HD storage unit until I guess more or less SW:TOR fails me and then something else doesnt catch my eye.
There are a lot of games that have at least some sort of depth to an end game it will just take a lot of researching and time playing to find the one that suits you best
For me it's EQ2. There is still SO MUCH to keep me busy and entertained. Right now I'm doing any collection that I missed....blue shinies in Kunark and Faydwer and red crafter shinies collections and....decorating homes all over Norrath. I think I missed my calling in real life of being an interior decorator, so....I'm living it out virtually.
I have built some REALLY cool stuff. I have a water tunnel in my house that I built...that leads to the guild hall door. I designed my own aquarium...totally unique from any others I have seen, and my attic is a Hua Mein sanctuary for the pandas to chillax in.
All those crafting heroics from The Isle of Shin in Mara...are payin' off. w00t!
If you don't play EQ2...this probably all sounds....strange. And...you're missing out.
I'm also amassing a small fortune crafting, enjoying roleplaying on guide quests and trying to gather guide collections and rare items you can only get at guide events....stuff like that. I joined up with this one guide event in Antonica recently where you were required to get drunk....really really drunk (like 10 drinks drunk) and jump off your griffon flight in mid air and land as close as possible to a marked spot without dying....HAHA. Uhm....I didn't die, but I landed further from the location than anyone else. It's really hard to see when you're that drunk.....so I didn't get the best reward, but hey...maybe next time. Yeah, most guide excursions aren't that silly. Most have some sort of quest attached to them and a sure rare reward. But this one was fun anyway, and the guide passed out collection shinies too. Our guides on Everfrost...are awesome.
Oh...and I just started tinkering. Tinkerfest is going on right now. Today I made a spider on a string and some sort of Gnomeland Security Toxic Safety Gear or something...LOL!! =D I'm also doing my carpenter mastery quest. I already have a lvl 90 master provisioner, and looking forward to my carpenter being there too. I'm saving all the rares I've harvested with my newly acquired pack unicorn (plus 47 to harvesting) along with all my crafting gear from Far Seas Trading that I worked my ASS off to get. Those rares are going to make some schnazzy stuff and some fat plat.
So many things in game that I have accomplished, after working at them so hard...and still so much more to DO! And after years of playing....I still only have one character with a maxed level. I love that! I don't feel any "rush to end game" bullshit in EQ2, but the end game is sweet....so are the other 89 levels. And THAT is why....I love my EQ2. =D I've tried a lot of games, and this one just fits me the best.
LOL I hate that this is exactly what gets me stuck every time I play EQ2 & Lotro. I get to mid game and get an urge to start all over and try a new character. It's driving me crazy too. I would love to see endgame in both if I don't shoot myself before then for restarting so many times.
HL2
A tiny mind is a tidy mind...
I think the problem is leveling.
Too much emphasis on the numbers.
I really just want to start one character, and play that one character and get to experience the bulk if not all the game has to offer.
World of Warcraft just doesn't really provide that.
And as far as I can tell, any game that is similar to what I'm searching for... Sucks.
... I really hope The Secret World looks better than it's gameplay video makes it seem.
Good post Just1. I see all that with EQ2 even having never reached endgame. I think that's one of the reasons I often come back to it because it's one of the few where I rarely have my mind on the end results, but more on the current day's adventure instead. There's a ridiculous amount of content and things to do at almost any level. I'm often overwhelmed on where to go next, but most times I just head out and see what I run in to first whether it's a new quest, an update to an old quest, harvesting nodes to make it a crafting night, new discoveries in the world to explore, new shinies, or sometimes I'll just camp a spot with cool mobs to kill for awhile. I've created a pretty fun collection of stuff in my little apartment too, although I don't do anything fancy with it. My character is just a packrat and collector of anything I get my virtual hands on, so much so that I started playing and enjoying LoN just for the stream of various in-game pets or banners I get from it.
1 word Aion
Yeah, when I really focus on not looking at the numbers in EQ2, I do great. I end up getting a lot done, get really absorbed in the world, and can play for hours.
I've made it to endgame in WoW just because it doesn't take as much time as other MMOs - it's probably one of the easiest to reach endgame, but I don't like the lack of options once I am there. My friends and I from WoW just end up taking breaks between expansions every time we reach endgame because it gets pretty boring.
I probably would never reach EQ2 endgame just because I don't care about it and can end up stuck at the same level for weeks doing random other things. I do get to see the bulk of the gameplay options early on, but it also distracts me from making much progress in level and zone content. that's probably a good thing because then I would just hit endgame in a couple months like with WoW, and feel like that was it. Game over if I'm not in to competitive raiding or grinding professions/reputation/raid gear. I think sometimes I just have to let go of the common idea that my level is in any way important. I've done almost everything Just1 stated up to mid game so that's definitely nice with EQ2, but it's got some annoying issues and lack of attention to detail in areas that might not work for you. The point is though, if you find an MMO where you can forget the numbers for whatever reason, I think that's where you'll find the real experience you're looking for more then any other particular detail. That is probably the defining ingredient for fun for me in an MMO is being able to forget the numbers and just play it. For others I suppose it might be more goal-oriented, or some competitive element at that point, but that doesn't do anything for me. So the endgame in WoW, or even the idea of it within other games isn't any motivation for me to stick with one character and one path till endgame.
Just to clarify in regards to the OP's question though, I don't have a favorite MMO for endgame. I really only enjoy the early-to-mid game, and so far just reaching endgame like with WoW due to extremely easy leveling just means I'm done with it till next expansion.
real life, get to put your feet up and enjoy all your hard work.
Depends on the work. I doubt the guy that got his head stuck up that elephants ass kicks his feet up very often LoL
The Daoc-RVR was sort of a fun and a good endgame content but that can not be the only thing to me.
I would like a good PvE, Raid, Economy, Crafting experience too but playing mmos for 10 years and computer games for 30 years i got pretty jaded and i am hard to impress anymore^^
I would like a mx:
Daocs RvR
SWG Economy/Crafting mixed with that of RoM, Vanguard
Raids i havent found the best Raidgame yet...WoW hat some good ones, AoC has some good ones, Lotro afair.
PVE AoC, Lotro, RoM...
Storytelling like Dragon Age for high quality epic endgame quests

SWG was my favorite end game of all time. Love huge battles.
Asherons Call was a close second because there was always things to explore and see with friends I also loved making new weopons.
Knight Online love the PvP and PvE. Boss hunts along with Wars, Border Wars, Castle Siege Wars and loved become rich in a player driven economy.
Honestly? Planetside had it. If you were good enough to get to CR5 and the top BR, you usually were having a great time in your outfit as well. When I max'd (in levels, that is) in 2006, I had 100 real players from my outfit at my fingertips, ready to smash any resistance in the way of our purple wave. I don't think there's anything better then spending all that time and effort, to be rewarded with the simple ability to co-ordinate a massive multi-tierd assault with players that you've 'known' for months. I'd take that back over T8.5 armor any day.
So what's changed with it that caused you to leave? I only played Planetside briefly in it's first couple months and enjoyed it. Although it was fun, it resembled Tribes more then any other MMO on the market back then, so I just played Tribes for free instead. I would have paid monthly to have an upgraded Giants: Citizen Kabuto though.
easily WoW
Anything with a sandbox feel, like SWG pre-NGE, or EQ2.. Hell, even EQ1 with their raids and thousands of AA's is better then the end game that simple themeparks have like WoW..
I had to laugh so hard on this one. XD
Come on, are you serious? oO
The 2-3 times Dredgion farming, 1 Endgame instance and the fortress (grinding)instances...
I quited AION because of the endgame!
I understand the: "Everyone to his taste." statement, but AION just lacked of content!
When the war of the beasts brings about the worlds end,
the goddess descends from the sky, wings of light and dark spread afar.
Im happy someone got the joke
best end game EvE Online then darkfall
BestSigEver :P

DAoC RvR by a large margin
Darkfall becouse there is no endgame you just keep pvp/crafting/pvp/crafting:)
A never ending endgame:)
Games played:AC1-Darktide'99-2000-AC2-Darktide/dawnsong2003-2005,Lineage2-2005-2006 and now Darkfall-2009.....
In between WoW few months AoC few months and some f2p also all very short few weeks.
well in my context of what i consider end game i give it to EQ2 because of the numerous options open to you at 80.Do quests, raids or instances, collect collectables,go solo those heritages, make up your house, improve your crafting, explore etc etc
Haven't really found one yet... I would say pvp wise, Aion you got the forts you can attack over and over again, I guess now they have that new expansion.
Good end game to me would be a pvp end game, could give a damn about heroics or instances.
