Hello. I have won a key in the LOTRO Contest. But I dont recieved an email with the key. And now I am scared to lose my prize because of the 24 hours limit. Thank you, Roger
So, does this mean that, if I already have the Bullroarer client from before, I will only need to patch it up, and not download the whole thing again? That would be very nice.
Well, it seems the beta ends on Aug.6th, so that makes the these keys pretty useless if you ask me, really not worth the effort for mmorpg to go through the hassle.
I think of it more as a post launch trial of the f2p model, because 10 days is hardly enough time to beta test anything and there has been others testing everything for a few months already, so there's not much anyone who won could contribute.
If anyone was just wanting a key to check out the game for themselves, just do the 10 day free trial of the p2p version, you'll get the same ammount of time :P Strangely enough though, playing this just made me want to go back to DDO, these games are a very similar experience.

That can't be right. They just said we'll get the keys in about 1 to 2 weeks.
Where did this info come from? MMORPG said that if we don't get our keys by the 6th, to contact Turbine about it... this implies that the beta will go on longer that the 6th, otherwise there would be no point in worrying about it.
One thing I always hated about Lotro is the housing system.
I previously canceled my account Twice, both times owning a house with items inside.
Now I know when the rent money runs out and the house goes back up for sale the items go into a storage box for two weeks... TWO WEEKS! and then perma deleted.
I wish the items went straight back into your warehouse or a place where they would be safe.

How many Points do beta users get to play around with was it 10,000 or 100,000?
Keys not used in 24 hours will be given to other contestants, this is why I'm impatient.
Since Turbine is giving the keys and not mmorpg.com, the usual 24 hour rule does not apply. So if you're waiting for 24 hours to be up so new people will be picked, you can stop waiting now.
As you'll notice, all the keys say "Confirmed". When using the 24 hour system, all the keys would say "Pending" until the winners responded, at which time they would switch to "Confirmed". Winners are not required to respond in this contest.
-Letting Derek Smart work on your game is like letting Osama bin Laden work in the White House. Something will burn.- -And on the 8th day, man created God.-

Well, the keys from MMORPG.com are 1000 points, though some of the beta keys from other sites are 5000 points. You will still be able to earn the points in-game by doing deeds.

Well then perhaps my beta key came from somewhere else? It was pmed to me out of the blue yesterday and it wasn't activated yet, so I assumed it came from this giveaway.
With that said maybe it was just an older key I used, but it does say on my account that it ends on the 6th.

Hmm. well that's strange. I hope that it doesn't really end on the 6th... cause that would suck for those of us who haven't received our keys yet.
Though, you say your account ends on the 6th, would that maybe be when your current subscription ends or something too?

that doesn't happen
i don't think there ever was a time when you would lose your house after going inactive
if you did lose your house i'd contact support
the beta will NOT end on the 6th
what you are seeing is a bug.. f2p beta accounts are created with trial account rights and thus the subscription has a timer of 10 days on it
when those 10 days pass you will retain your access
beta will go on til the launch of f2p which will be this fall

http://cdn.content.turbine.com/sites/clientdl/lotro/beta/lotrohigh.exe
since apparently no one got their key yet i'm not at all worried about it taking so long

Multiple times I cancelled my sub and left my house for around 8 months and both times when I returned everything in my house was still there.

That's right.
I was off for almost 2 years and came back for 1 week recently.
My house was still there, but I had to pay almost 1 gold to reopen it.
Btw, I'm still waiting for my F2P key. Anybody else who stil didn't get it?
I don't think many people have theres yet. It could take as long as the 6th to get it. Just be patient we'll be playing the game in no time!
