Need help for FFXIV

Hey guy's, i'm currently in the midst of building a new computer for the new FFXIV. My budget is anywhere from $1000-2000. I would love to run this thing on max and am hoping to get some help on what hardware you all think might do the trick and what software I can use safely to overclock. Thanks guys and onward to the world of Eorzea!

Never, ever, ever, ever, ever buy a premade comp. It's really not that hard to build one yourself. I figured you know this, just reiterating.
All you really need to worry about is the Motherboard/CPU, whether the power supply you have will run it, and then geting the right video card and keeping up with the right amount of RAM. Seriously, for about 1500 bucks you can gear out a rig that can compete with the 3-4k alienware ones.
I built mine with 1200 bucks back in the day, and it's all lasted me besides the 9800GX2 that I burnt out while dual clienting a game in windowed mode. Derp.
As for parts;
I like the ASUS maximus mobo (350$)
Maybe one of the new vid cards, but an 8800GT is still all you will prolly need (200$)
That's about all I can recommed really, I have no experience with the newer stuff, nor the money to do anything about that.

No kidding. I need to do a complete overhaul seeing as I have the Core 2 Duo and the interface wont work with the new I7's. I also want to start experimenting with over clocking as well to get the most out of my system. I don't mind purchasing whatever cooling I may need.
Up until now i've built decent systems with no OCing whatsoever and I figure it's a good time to start.
You can get a very decent rig with that budget, i'm assuming you already have monitors.
Dont overclock if you not know what you're doing.
i7 + high end video card is somewhere around 1k. RAMs are cheap so with mobo.
I have an idea, i've also done some research so the knowledge is there but the execution is lacking. I also need to replace my monitor.
Then start from scratch imo, because your old tower might not even be the right make for the newer mobos.
Whenever I upgrade I just get a fresh cooler master tower and start from scratch, then relegate the older comp to my porn device in order to keep the newer one "sterile".

You may want to splurge on a better monitor, I got the same Asus one (i think), and I totally miss the Samsung one I had go out on me... and that thing was ooooold, but a gooden. There's no point in going all out on hardware when the monitor is still meh.

Nope. Though it's questionable whether the hardware or monitor will be made obsolete first.
Your choice on that one really, and I guess you can always upgrade the monitor at any time, while the hardware has to be done in tandem with other parts (usually).

Aye. I may just keep my current monitor right now. It's not bad just enough to do 1280x1024. But man, 500 for the card really jumped the price. Do you have any suggestions?
Nope, I have no idea when new cards will come out and drive the current one's prices down.

You could make do with a lower watt PSU. (only one gfx and one HDD)
IMO, you dont need performance RAM, normal one will do.

you should be fine with that amount of money. i have a quad core pro, 4 gigs ram, 9800 geforce, i'm not worried. i might be able to run full speed with the game or not; regardless i never do with any mmo...including wow. my rig now is probably 500 cheaper than it was. you will be, easily, able to run the game on your pc. remember internet connection also has a lot to do with gameplay, lots of people don't think so but its true.....i know because 60% of the time it works 100%.

I would buy a higher PSU. 850watts on that video card might not be enough. Maybe by two 600's or 800's and crosfire them. I would personally go for a cheaper card. EVGA is really nice but you can get close to the spec's with a cheaper card. ATI has better bang for your buck imo. I m running a 2BG Radeon 4870 HD with GDDR 5. I max any games setting's so far without a hic-up in my system. Games i.e.- Wow, Crysis, oblivion....
As far PC gaming goes hardware is way ahead of the gaming developers currently. Or at least they aren't going to make games that can take full use of the current hardware since 85% people won't be able to play them. So as a general rule never buy the best grapics card. They will be moderate hardware with-in 6-months.
I would buy something like this card HERE. Its spec's are nice and its cheap by comparison. Should still be able to handle everything almost maxed out or very close. GPU is just half the battle anyways. With the amount of ram you have listed it shouldn't be an issue. More importantly it gives you more money to spend else where.....things thats don't necessarily need to be replaced next time you build your PC. i.e your Screen, speakers, gaming mouse & keyboard. I'd place a little extra money into your CPU since you can't just replace it down the road. Meaning when you do buy another one your probably going to have to buy a new motherboard so you have the correct socket to connect it too.
Building tips: Make sure your PSU is big enough to handle the hardware your buying. Make sure your CPU and motherboard socket are the same. Quick way be out a few hundred dollars. Check out what DDR and frequency for RAM your motherboard needs. All this is in the product Spec's sheet on newegg and other sites. Another thing is once your system is running your probably going to have to go into bio's and change the voltage and frequency to your RAM's specifications. The RAM's box will say what settings it needs. After that everything is color coded, just connect and turn on. GL!
No weak points that I can see there. A few thoughts:
-Make sure you get a decent aftermarket CPU heatsink if you intend any overclocking. These days, it's pretty hard to go wrong with any of the more popular coolers.
-Depending on prices, a 27" monitor will be larger, but use the same resolution, so it'll be just as easy for the video card to drive.
-Corsair has a lot of different "Dominator" memory models. Don't bother with anything faster than DDR3-1600 (unless the price happens to be really good).
-Patience might save you a few bucks - there's a decent chance that GPU prices might be trickling downwards in the next month or two, largely courtesy of the GTX460's recent entrance onto the scene.
