Addition of Alliance Types

Introduction

To further the development of Darkfall's meta-game, I suggest adding a system of hardcoded alliances to the game. This system would move to replace the current alliance system. Though different allignments between guilds would still be possible (wary, war, friendly, and neutral), the ability to ally and bind to each other's cities would be reserved for alliance members.

Alliance members would also be given access to an alliance bank (though only accessible by SG's by default).

Alliance Creation/Alliance Types

An option to create an alliance will be available to any guild not already in an alliance. To create the alliance, one of a guild's SG's would have to pay a 50k fee and click an option under the guild management tab to form the alliance. Upon alliance creation, a drop box will provide 3 different options for alliance structure: Democracy, Dictatorship, and Oligarchy. Each type of alliance structure will have different pre-determined rules, and the alliance type cannot be changed once the alliance is created.

Democracy

A "democracy" alliance structure is one built upon the equality of all guilds within the alliance. No guild has more sway than the others in the alliance, as all members have equal voting opportunities.

Expanding the alliance

Once this type of alliance is created, guilds would be able to apply for membership within the alliance in a fashion similar to how players apply for guild membership. In order to join an alliance, a guild's request to join the alliance would have to be accepted by atleast 50% of the guild's already within the alliance. Likewise, a guild could be removed from an alliance if 50% of the alliance's guilds voted for them to be removed. A guild could also opt to leave the alliance if they chose to do so.

Voting System

Through this system, guilds could put forth different proposals (6 hr. cool down between submitting proposals) within the alliance by which every guild in the alliance would have exactly 1 vote. Samples of these proposals would be as follows:

  • Kick a guild out of the alliance (requires 51% of alliance approval)

  • Force all guilds in alliance to war deck a specific clan (requires 51% of alliance approval)

  • Ban a guild from the alliance bank (requires 60% of alliance approval)

  • Prevent alliance members from accepting players from a certain racial faction(requires 60% of alliance approval)

  • Prevent alliance members from grouping up with or trading with members of a specific racial faction (requires 60% of alliance approval)

  • Prevent alliance members from grouping up with or trading with members of a specific guild (requires 60% of alliance approval)

  • Implement an alliance wide tax on guild banks every three days. (requires 70% of alliance approval)

  • Change rank needed to access alliance bank. (requires 70% of alliance approval)

  • Kick/Ban a specific player from joining the alliance (requires 70% of alliance approval)
NOTE: To reverse any previous proposal, the same number of people that it took to pass a proposal would be required to strike it down.

Dictatorship

A "dictatorship" alliance structure is one built upon one guild leading the rest of the alliance. Only one guild will have voting opportunities in such an alliance, allowing one guild to control the other guilds in the alliance.

Expanding the alliance

Once this type of alliance is created, guilds would be able to apply for membership within the alliance in a fashion similar to how players apply for guild membership. In order to join an alliance, a guild's request would have to be accepted by a SG from whichever guild founded the alliance (aka the leading/dictatorial guild).

Voting System

Through this system, a the guild leading the alliance would be able to enforce various acts upon the alliance. Once proposed, these actions would automatically go through as no other guild in the alliance woulf have voting power. Samples of these proposals would be as follows:

  • Kick a guild out of the alliance

  • Force all guilds in alliance to war deck a specific clan

  • Ban a guild from the alliance bank

  • Prevent alliance members from accepting players from a certain racial faction

  • Prevent alliance members from grouping up with or trading with members of a specific racial faction

  • Prevent alliance members from grouping up with or trading with members of a specific guild

  • Implement an alliance wide tax on guild banks every three days.

  • Change rank needed to access alliance bank.

  • Kick/Ban a specific player from joining the alliance

Oligarchy

An "oligarchy" alliance structure is one built upon the premise that some guilds in the alliance are more influential than others. Under this system, only the "primary" guilds in the alliance will have voting power.

Expanding the alliance

Once this type of alliance is created, guilds would be able to apply for membership within the alliance in a fashion similar to how players apply for guild membership. In order to join an alliance, a guild's request to join the alliance would have to be accepted by atleast 50% of the primary guild's already within the alliance. Likewise, a guild could be removed from an alliance if 50% of the alliance's primary guilds voted for them to be removed. A guild could also opt to leave the alliance if they chose to do so.

Voting System

Through this system, primary guilds could put forth different proposals (6 hr. cool down between submitting proposals) within the alliance by which other primary guilds in the alliance would have exactly 1 vote.

  • Give a guild primary voting status (requires 70% of alliance approval) Exclusive to Olicarthy Alliance Type

  • Remove a guild's primary voting status (requires 70% of alliance approval) Exclusive to Oligarchy Alliance Type

  • Kick/Ban a specific player from joining the alliance (requires 70% of alliance approval)

NOTE: To reverse any previous proposal, the same number of people that it took to pass a proposal would be required to strike it down.

You indeed have invested some time doing some research and all these ideas would give more life to the game, I hope AV sees this.

Interesting.   Did you post this on DFO's forum?
