Notice: We can't stress this enough. When the launcher is running the patch installer, let it run its course. It will take some time to apply the patch and it might seem like the installer is doing nothing, but it is working. If you reboot or kill the patcher process you run the risk of corrupting you installation, forcing you to do a full reinstall.



------ ADDITIONS & CHANGES ------



General:



- "Insta-log" fixed. If you're a carebear chicken and pull the plug during a fight your character will stay present in the world for 60 sec. Helpless.



- All server-messages are now coloured pink.



- Added the "get up" animation for when your soul raises from your corpse in the Etherworld.



- Added new features to the Etherworld:

When you die and enter the Etherworld, your Mana power-bar will display your current Kau (energy). The amount of Kau you have is dependent on your Psyche. (Please note that using the Mana bar for this is temporary, and please note that Mana and Kau are calculated differently.)



You now move faster and jump higher in the Etherworld, your movement ability is determined by your Psyche.



The living can't see you when you are in the Etherworld, you can't hear them, and you can no longer talk to them.



When pressing X while in Etherworld you will manifest in the world of the living. This gestalt is called your Akh. The ghost-like Akh will be visible to the living, and your sight will be slightly improved. While being manifested in Akh-form, your Kau will be drained. When you run out of Kau your Akh will disappear.



While manifested you can try to contact the living by talking (using the chat). However to be able to understand you the living must have the skill Spiritism (a new magic school which will be expanded more in the near future). A Spiritist will be able to interpret your voice, the higher the Spiritism, the more he will be able to understand.



A Spiritist can extend his knowledge of the Etherworld with the skill Akh Manifestation. This skill will let the Spiritist manifest his own Akh for longer, regain Kau faster, and also be able to interpret and listen to the voice of the living.



Messages sent from the Etherworld will show up in grey and have [ether] as their channel-name.





Combat:



- It's no longer possible to get a weak-spot hit unless you fully charge your stab AND wait the extra second.





AI & Mounts:



- Creatures now have proper defence values. Creatures have different defence against different types of damage. This has also affected the HP of creatures, which is now generally lower.



Skill:



- Lowered how much Mental Offence added to magic-damage.

- Aggressive stance no longer gives you a bonus while mounted.

- Aggressive stance no longer gives you a bonus when using ranged weapons.



------ BUG FIXES ------



General:



- Many stuck locations have been fixed.



- Fixed so that the lean-collision that was introduced last patch no longer makes you collide against animals and players.



- Fixed a bug that made it possible to use several bandages/potions if you spammed the action bar.



- Fixed a bug that made it possible to use several bandages/potions if you spammed the action bar.



- Fixed a bug that removed the stun-timer from certain actions.






Magic:



- You can no longer cast the current Ecumenical Spells on buildings.





Skills & Attributes:



- Fixed a bug that made Mental Offence count as if you had it at 80 when you didn't have the skill at all.





Combat:



- Fixed some issues connected to shields and equipping.



- Fixed several crashes connected to swapping weapons while mounted.



- You can now correctly chop off a players left-arm.

    This is admittedly somewhat tangential, but the introduction of spiritism is one of the big changes and I don't think we know enough about it yet to warrant it's own topic.

     

    I do like the way they have explained the basics of akh and how you can use kau while dead and look forward to more information about this. Also, I find that this is one more case where the etymology they use hints at the thought behind the lore and design of the world of Nave.  One of the common criticisms of MO is that there is "no lore".  My impression is that the lore is there, it's just not explicit.

    I really like this patch. Cool feats with these spirits and Kau! I love the ideas that Star Vault implement! I can see how this can become in the future ...

    It's nice to have an etherworld, but it's 100% the exact system UO used without even trying to modify it. Let's hope it works as intended.

    This comes out just as my free month sub runs out ....

    Not enough to resub but sounds interesting.

    I will come back when the basic bugs are sorted out more though.

    These idiots attack their own player base.  The mechanic was in game, although unintentional but it was in game.  Anyone could unplug during a fight and log out.  They ridicule their own base for using a mechanic that was left available to them from an oversight by the dev team.

    I just lol'd if you follow the game you'd know the devs have a sense of humour ;) Insta-logging when you're about to die was rediculous.

    Good to see that Star Vault also fixed the insta-log bug.
