Why doesn't everyone play on private servers?
Well, I was just thinking, there is a private server project out there that isn't illegal at all. It was released by NCSoft, and it follows all the necessary guidelines within the law. They run modified servers from the Chronicle 1 source code, and there are many out there. All of these servers offer FREE play. Aside from some of the recent additions from C2, there seems to be little reason to spend such a high monthly fee when there are legal private servers out there.
I recently looked into them, and it's pretty cool. You can even get a free copy of the game client that is set to specifically work with these servers. Anyway, just thought I would post on this so people could look into it themselves. Pretty cool if ya ask me...

I guess its because most people just think of it like their aint no thing like the real thing, personally this is how i think of it anyway. Id rather have the real thing run by the REAL owners who have the financial backing and stability, basically so i know i can expect to play the game securly for a long time.

I talked to the developers of Lineage 2 concerning this back in July of 04
They stated is was indeed illegal and it was not set up by NCSoft to bring people to their paid servers
According to NCSoft if they wanted people to play for free, they would provide a trial demo of sorts and not private servers.
So, to clear any misconceptions...yes, it is very illegal and please do not post any sites here or they will be deleted
....PS: you cannot get a freedownload because the Chronicles 3 files hasn't been cracked by private servers so you had to download the client from 3rd party, bugged infested servers from other parts of the world....if Lineage 2 was promoting this...then one would think you didn't had to go through great lengths and hazards to download a 3rd party copy of Chronicles 2 then manually update through the private server's cracked patches of their current system
