    Crafting/Building/PvE/PvP/Taming...

it's all gameplay, or you're making a point that it's not, and never had been in any game before it.

It sounds like the OP is looking for either self-fulfillment from accomplishing something, or recognition from other players for what he's done. Either way I would recommend EVE like the first two replys. It has amazing instances of both feelings mentioned above and it's gameplay is so complex and *deep* that even beginning to understand it is an accomplishment in itself. As the game transforms on you find so much freedom and choice whatever you choose to train in feels unique. EVE is an awesome game to experience, with some patience and hard-work (which I'm sure you have from reading your original post) you can have a mind-blowing time.

EVE Online is probably the most mainstream, popular MMORPG that meets your criteria.

If you don't have a problem with older, less populated games, I'd recommend Star Wars: Galaxies.

Then of course there's the oudated, less known Roma Victor, which I feel is the most "sandboxy".  You really can own towns and cities, you can engage in construction, farming, hunting, etc all in a persistent world and have it still be there when you log back in...  it's a game that's constantly under development, and Redbedlam is currently in the process of a major revamp to make it look quite nice, a Roma Victor 2, if you will!  Oh - it has no monthly subscription.

Alternatively, you can do what I'm doing:  wait for Guild Wars 2.

An example would be "A Tale in the Desert IV". You create stuff, and when you log out, and back in, your things are still there. I'm looking for something similar but not necessarily the same as ATITD4, as it seems to be entirely micro-management focused.

Also I like how in Puzzle Pirates you can own buildings that people can work at to produce items that you sell, and how it's got that whole player-run economy, and the ability for groups to own islands and stuff.

Is there anything out there with a good system for building, or producing, or some sort of politics thing where you can own/run a village/city/etc. that has good gameplay and stuff to it as well?

Nobody meantioned Darkfall online . .. it is kind of like the EVE for the fantasy setting but its most like UO and AC.

    - MMORPG FFA PVP Full-loot FPS-style

    - Real-time fast-paced combat. It is hard but once you get used to it its reaaally fun. No auto-aim tab-targetting.

    - Player-made cities and hamlets. I have never designed a city myself but I have owned a couple . . . and would say that the cities seem to change slightly with every owner such as rearraging the cannons, flamethrowers, guard towers, walls, etc.  I used to sneak into this one city often to ninja loot their mine and every new clan that took the city redesigned it in a way that made it harder for me to run in there and rob people and get out with their stuff.   : (

    - Housing system in villages that can be captured for the property tax by players. Some villages are worth more than others. This is a nice harvesting run because gardens and stuff that people may put in their house drop much more than regular bushes or whatever. They may have a player vendor or a safe or a slot machine at their place too. So it is kind of like robbing their houses but a lot of time PVP shows up.

    - Economy is entirely player-driven. To trade you have to talk to someone and meet them somewhere and open a trade. There are player-vendors that you can find at the villages (@ peoples homes).

    - Political warfare is a daily occurance: http://darkfallinfo.com/pmap/                 world domination!!

    - Sea-towers can be captured as well with naval combat for good treasure.

    - No where is safe and everything is run by players and clans so everything remains in a political war.

    - Dying matters . ... everything that you are carrying is left on your corpse open for anyone to loot. This will give you a rush when you PVP because it is not often but when it happens, it does matter!

    - More intelligent and realistic PVE. The mobs feel a lot more alive in this game than any other MMORPG that I have played.

    - You create your own path in a huge no-instanced world. The DEVs do not draw your path for you so you have a lot more freedom than other games. No being forced through quest-chains or running into invisible walls. The world is so huge that I have been playing for 16 months and have yet to be everywhere and experience all of the content.

    - Graphics are being revamped and so are the dungeons next month. I think they are already fun but they are adding treasure maps and more dungeon quests. Graphics and sounds are totally being revamped with prestige classes added in a couple months. Right now you just pick up and use any skill/spell that you want. I prefer archery/melee myself . ..

    - Casual player friendly as long as you do not mind having to develop your character and life on Agon over a long period of time. Unlike other games, you can group with end-game characters and go to the same PVE and PVP that they do without any xp penalty or restrictions.

    - Mounted combat. There are many different kinds of mounts and new ones with new abilities keep being introduced.

Things matter in this game. That is why we play it. Me and my GF get much more of a real sense of accomplishment or failure when we play this game along with a wicked adrenaline rush sometimes. Biggest complaint that I have had was having to leave my computer on overnight to AFK swim for HP but the game just completely changed last patch making it much easier for newer people by giving lowbies HP, nukes now do much less damage than they used to (only full damage at point of inpact now), and the grind has been reduced by 6 times. The game has a bad rep but it is the funnest sandbox that we have been able to find.

I believe you have successfully changed the topic of the forums to; "why wurm is awesome". To suggest a game for the OP to play you simply suggest the game and give some solid reasons as to why thet OP should play the game. There is no use to getting into a fanboi arguement about your favorite MMO. People have differing opinions and points. There are moments like theres where you will simply have to give up on this fruitless arguement.

It was dropped until you felt the compulsive need to bring it back up.

Plus, this was simply between me and Hatter after he decided to trash talk the game for things that his love (Second Life) does as well. The argument was about inconsistancy.
