I'm pretty much sold except

I'm 99% sold on pre-ordering this game since I love how its a unique twist and something fresh and exciting. Only problem is i'm trying to dig details up on both sides and right now all I know is criminals go basically do criminal acts like muggings, GTA, chop shops, robberies, and I think I saw a street racing clip but I doubt that would be illegal (would be nice if it was); only issue I have is for enforcers all I know is the stop the criminals and arrest them. I was wondering if anyone knew more details on being an enforcer currently since i'm debating between both sides part of me wants to be a criminal but I feel they'll be overwhelming in number and enforcers will be lacking (not that in this game that will be that big of an issue). I basically just want to know what kind of motivation does being an enforcer offer other than being a cop with no rules aside from stop the injustice.

I think, and don't quote me on this one because I've not actually been in game, that enforcers and criminals can really do most of the same things just in different ways. Like.. a criminal can steal a car and chop/paint and everything else, an enforcer can "steal" a car too, its just more like commandeering. Enforcers can't mug people but they can arrest criminals, so that I guess is used to balance it out. The ONLY thing that I'm not sure about in terms of if the enforcers can also do is turf wars. Someone was saying that gangs can have turf wars against each other but I'm not sure if thats confirmed at all.

PS: If you do end up getting it and playin we should try to roll the same world :P. I'm trying to get a group together to play with at launch and so far its just me and my girl hah. (atm pretty sure were going enforcer but depends on population)

Think of it as some things are generic, the criminals do all the nasty stuff and the enforcers do the opposite.

Criminals steal, mug and kill everything, the enforcers go to "arrest" them by arrest i mean kill...most of the time.

Enforcers can do delivery missions of important items and criminals are sent to "steal from them" by steal i mean kill and steal from them.

Criminals can........oh no wait thats about it. (There are a few more but well, most of the time it is just criminals do something dumb and enforcers go to get them....then the shootout begins, either live or fail.

There are only a few basic mission types, with a varying degree of difficulty only by the matchmaking systems ability to not make it the same people who come after you every time. But it does happen from time to time.

Different missions as well... Like vandalism for criminals and VIP escort for enforcers.. just exemples..

Enforcers can decide to patrol as well .. Witnessing a crime pits you automatically against that player (and is team if he have one).

only real difference between the enforcers and the crims is that the threat level rises depending on how well you do missions to the countary of the crims of doing.. well anything illegal, then theres the burglar option... everything else is same

for say you can take a vehicle and turn it in for cash, same as the crim. Instead of arrests for enforcers theres bounty for crims. The missions are close to identical as well. Its nice and casual with a lot of customisation options, thats about it. Its very, very shallow, yet very entertaining.

Shallow is fine with me I love just jumping into a game and having action from the get go, thats why I still play BF2142 from time to time. Plus I've never been to good with grind type games since EQ1 and DAoC days; and seriouswhale I'd love to try and roll on the same world (if they have them I thought it was just a bunch of servers and you go to one that isn't full etc but that was my take from what i've read, I'll probably be enforcer since someone needs to keep the chaos under control, i'm also not that bad of a shot than again i'm not entirely sure how the game mechanics will be, wasn't sure if it was fps meets mmog like planetside.

I just thought I'd share what I found apparently enforcers get to do quite a bit aside from protecting citizens, making arrest and doing patrols , they also get to  bring crimnals down by investigations and raids. They get cash bounties for catching criminals like bounty hunters (this made me think that i'll be seeing quite a few dog look a likes maybe a clan of dog and his crew lol). Lastly they can go after the celeberity criminals or hunt for ones who go into hiding.

I assumed the criminal side would be overpopulated too, but after a balanced start people slowly migrated to enforcer, and now there are alot more enforcers than criminals.

The main reason for this is the more relaxed playstyle of the enforcer, they get to choose when to attack criminals or do missions, but criminals get attacked almost constantly whatever they are doing. Another good point for the enforcer is the larger variety of weapons, they get all the criminal weapons and LTL (less than lethal) so they can stun and arrest the crims.

They have made the game so it is not good vs evil, the criminals are trying to control the city so they make lots of money, and the enforcers are more bounty hunter then police. They have been given a badge so they can legally cause as much mayhem as the crims. The Criminal factions fight for control while the enforcers take down the notorious criminals for money and prestige.

So the criminal population was less in beta (i'm assuming you've played beta that is)?

At the start it was fairly balanced, but as it has gone on the population of enforcers has increased. I would currently guess at 10-15% more enforcers.

2 reasons i wont play this game... 1, you cannot sell drugs...2 you cannot sell women.... the 2 biggest aspects of crime cannot be commited.... thats like making a shooting game with no bullets...

  • Heffy424Heffy424 Member UncommonPosts: 524

well women would be a little harsh, drugs good point but than again this is probably reaching a young crowd or atleast teenage crowd but than again they've probably played GTA. who knows maybe in the future you can.

its hard enough just mugging people and do burglary, youl get those enforcers down your throat in a couple minutes and once they get the mish to go after you, forget about any cash from whatever you were doing. Selling drugs.. sounds like something that would take a lot of time. Basicly you dont got a much of it before some hotshot will try to hunt you down...  it wouldnt fit the system, its very action pased.. not much room for more subtle things (aside from the non-combat section)

I calll shenanigans. Women? Maybe not. Drugs? Sure! It isn't anything more than a simple "Pick up item, deliever here." Mission. You don't have to be slinging it on a corner.

When you've done something right, no one will know you've done anything at all. -Unknown

at least let the criminals crank on pcp during enforcer fights, sure anyone can take down a 250 pound body armored maniac with an assault rifle, but try doing it when hes hopped up on pcp and immune to pain (if you dont headshot him he aint goin down anytime soon!)

    Eforcers

    • they got less lethal weapons, meaning they can stun people and put them in handcuffs to arrest them.

    • threat meter (dunno what its called) drops when you dive into people and destroy city objects, kililng crims and arresting will increase

    Crims

    • Rob a store - Crash a care into a store window, smash it and take the items from it, deliver it and get some standing and cash for it

    • Sell a stolen car - u can steal a car, drop it off at a garage thingi waypoint and get some cash and standing for that

    • threat meter (dunno what its called) you get more "points" for smashing up all the stuff u can do, killing everything and anything, but it drops slowly all the time when you do nothing

there is also some minor stuff, like car's and such, but thats not really importend :)
