FIFA Online, not to be confused with its South Korean predecessor FIFA Online 2 (confusing, isn't it?), has now entered Closed Beta and is accepting sign ups.

Developed by EA Singapore in a partnership with South Korea's Neowiz, FIFA Online 2, the game's browser based predecessor never made it over to the states, however, FIFA Online will be receiving a full Western release and is also running on the much newer FIFA 10 engine (FIFA Online 2 runs on the much older FIFA 07 engine).

The game will feature 30 leagues, 500 teams, and three game modes (Tournament, Versus, and World Cup), is intended to run on a wide range of systems, and will be controlled entirely with the mouse.

FIFA Online is a free-to-play title with a microtransaction item shop,  and while no concrete details are available on the contents of the game's item shop, EA has assured fans that it will only contain items of convenience, as opposed to items that may offer gamers a gameplay advantage.

[Thanks Piasek for the tip!]
