Bioware + Lord Of The Rings = Good Times:)

ShariShari Member UncommonPosts: 746

Bioware games are my favourate rpg's of all time and I just can't believe they haven't made a Lord Of The Rings rpg. They are the only company imho who could pull this off and make it awsome.

While I'm on the subject of Bioware what happened to Jade Empire? it was my favourate rpg from Bioware so how comes there's no sequel's?

And one last thing, how comes no one has done a rpg to do with Arthurian lore?, it is my number 1 favourate fantasy lore with Lord Of The Rings being a close 2nd and I think it would make a excellent rpg .

Well Bioware have said they want to make there own IP's and i think EA own the rights to make LOTR's video games.

Bioware does prefer to make their own IPs, but EA owns Bioware now so while its possible I'm thinking very unlikely.

As much as I have always loved LOTR, it has been way overused lately in games. Since the movies came out, I think there have been 16 games and expansions released using the LOTR universe. To me that just seems like a bit of overkill.

I'm personally glad that Bioware focuses on their own IPs. Even if they are very similar to established ones, it at least gives them more freedom than relying on loads of existing material.

Jade empire was much less successful than Bioware had hoped. For this reason, I doubt we will see a sequel to it. Personally I wasn't a fan of the setting or controls in that game...

I saw some online video about Bioware and Jade Empire was talked about. Apparrently it didn't do as well (financially) as they ahd hoped if memory serves.

    I keep forgetting about that.

and Lotro is made by turbine,  before that it was made by sierra (sp?)  do not think EA owns the MMO rights.  Not sure about the rest of the video games.

I thought EA failed to renew their rights for anything Tolkien so Warner Bros now has the license to make anything Lord of the Rings. Not to mention Warner Bro's also bought Turbine, so there you go. Basically you will not see a Bioware + Lord of the Rings anything just because of that. At least that's how I understand it.

I remember buying it on the original xbox and enjoying it... but I don't remember what it was that compelled me to buy the game... perhaps good reviews?  I can completely see how it could not be extremely popular, though I think the combat was done better in that game then some other BioWare games.
