A little worried about playing this again because...

GajariGajari Member Posts: 984

I bought the game at release (pre-ordered, bought online), and quit before the first month was up. I just tried to get access into my account to try the game again, and I had to call up technical support because I couldn't access it and none of my password hint answers worked.

Then it turns out my account is blocked, though I wasn't given a specific reason why, though the guy on the phone assumed I was probably hacked, and he sent it off to their account analysis something or other team, so I gotta wait like 24-72 hours to get word on whether or not they'll be reopening my account.

The guy on the phone said there shouldn't be any problem if I didn't do anything. Still, it was a major pain having to wait on the phone for over a half hour, and then wait a while after to get things reopened.

In any case, I've never been hacked before in over 8 years of playing MMO's. At least this happened when my account wasn't even active I guess... but still, if it was so easy to hack, I don't know if I'd wanna put time into a character to have the same thing happen as easily down the road.

Maybe you guys can reassure me that it'd be fine. But we'll see. :P

Anyone else have this happen?

Happened to me. Usually it's easy enough to get back provided you have saved every piece of data that NCSoft has EVER sent to you.

That means the original card you bought your first NCsoft game with etc.

I can never access Aion again unfortunately :(

    Wasn't meant to be...

I also got jacked while not playing.  Some guy in Ohio activated my account to spam gold and got banned.  Had to do the support thing, get my master account back, and have Aion unbanned.  Kept the sub from the jacker though, thanks NC.  Anyway checked Aion out and no its still Aion but now its empty... down low.  Not one person in the 10-20 zone other than me on the Asmo side.

Also resubbed to CoX now that ultra mode has gone live.  Its pretty, still performs really well but I can't shake that been there done that feeling.  And though they added a bunch of content since I last played its no where to be found =(  Think I need a break from MMOs I played to cap for a while.  And Aion since its grindy feel just isn't my bag.

AoC or VG maybe, probably AoC since VG is the game I want to like but just can't look passed the faults.

Not to mention VG is supposedly dead as a doornail

Aion has a healthy population but it isn't getting tons of new characters except on Double EXP weekends where everyone rolls an alt to get to 30 for Daevanion...

But the PTS has tons of new people right now, it's like launch all over again except with much higher EXP rates.

I managed to get my account back. I was really lucky that I found an enail with my unique code I had gotten with my original purchase of the game, and I managed to remember the last four digits of the CC number I was using last year. :P

I was looking around for all this information like crazy on the phone, and I found that unique ID that matched up with the account, but that still wasn't enough. He then asked for the last four numbers of the CC number after like 10 mins of me looking for serial keys from other games on the account, and I gave him one, was wrong, gave him another, and he was like, "Oh.. actually, yeah, that's right." Like, he was really surprised.  lol

He put through a ticket to get my account unbanned. 3 days later, no response... so I sent an email of my own, and it was fixed in 10 mins or so.

I just checked the contact information on my account a few minutes ago to make sure everything was good, and it said information from "Corsicana Texas", "75109" or whatever zip code.

I'm gonna reactive, run virus scans over night as they tell me was likely the problem...  and we'll see how this goes.

EDIT: Ugh... for some reason my username and password isn't working when I try to log into the game now...

I just today had the urge to play Aion again. I logged into NCSoft's website only to see my account is banned and I can not reactivate. What bullshit. I pre ordered and played for almost 3 months before I canceled my subscription. Someone must of hacked into my account and farmed/ sold gold. When you guys got your accounts back, were the characters still there?? Were they void of items and gold? I had about 1 million and tons of gear from my armor crafter. Been playing MMO's since Meridian 59 and ive never had my account jacked or banned. Not sure this game is worth it.

PS> What number did you guys call for customer service??? Ive looked all over the site and I can't find a number to call.

  • GajariGajari Member Posts: 984

Sorry to say, but all my characters were gone and there was nothing left on my account. Luckily I didn't play long enough to get a high level character, and I was planning on starting over again anyway.

Honestly, though, it's enough of a hassle getting them to reactive your account... I can only imagine what it'll take for them to get your characters back - if they're even able to.

As for the phone number, here ya go:

    Phone Support

We offer telephone support for billing and technical support issues only. You may contact a member of our Billing or Technical Support Teams by calling the number below. We do not offer telephone support for general game support issues. Any calls regarding game support will be directed to use one of the available support methods listed in the Game Support section.

    From within the US: 1-512-225-6359

From outside the US: (++1) 512-225-6359

    Mon-Fri

    12pm to 5pm, Central

My password to my master account on plaync.com was changed, as well as all my contact information, so to get those if you need, either be prepared with all the serial codes of all the games on your account, or at least know the last four digits of your credit card number you used at the time you were subbed.

After that, to get unbanned, you or the CSR on the phone will have to send off an email to the account services guys for them to look into your account and stuff, so at that point it's just a waiting game (took me 3 days, but it was over a weekend, which I was informed means slower service with less employees available).

You can ask the guy on the phone what the chances are of you getting your characters and stuff back afterwards, but I doubt they'll have any useful info.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't play again if they refuse to fix the account. I had a lvl 45 and 3 lvl 35s. That was a shit ton of grinding before they added the increased exp. Guess it wasn't meant to be.

I think the main purpose to hack game account is trying to get your banking information such as Pay Pal and credit card information. Since I have been downloaded and played many F2P, the risk to get hack is very very high. They don't want your game account because it's free to play, they want your banking information. Email address identical with Pay Pal email address.

I suggest create multiple email box, use different email adress on each game. When you stop playing the game stop use the same email adress again.

I had my account hacked as well apparently, however i was able to get it back after several conversations with NCSoft, however my fiancee's account appears to be hacked as well and seems that every bit of data in her info was deleted so im thinking she has had the unforunate happening of the account being cleared out.

On another note in 10 years of playing MMO's i have never once been hacked on any game from  Last Chaos to WoW, ive played an extensive list of MMO's and somehow Aion seems to be the only one thats had the major failure with losing their inactive accounts.

This is also the first game that I've had a problem with hacking with. Well, you guys have pretty much sold me on not trusting NCSoft and playing this game anymore. Seems way too many people have been hacked, and I'm not gonna risk playing for a long period of time just to lose everything.

In this case, I believe it was just goldfarmers. They took what little kinah they could get from my characters, and most likely used my account to spam some goldselling info until it got banned.  Those are my thoughts anyway.

Yeah, same story here actually, I got hacked and then my account got banned while not even active; apparently there was quite a huge data leak at NCsoft.

Luckily I don't plan on starting this one back up anytime soon, and if I do so, it'll be with a new character (if they make the progression and endgame actually fun).

Feel free to use my referral link for SW:TOR if you want to test out the game. You'll get some special unlocks!

Most hacks only normally happen due to the account holder using out of game facilities like RMT or power lvling.

Not saying you guys did, but thats the usual reason for it.

  • markt50markt50 Member Posts: 132

Same story for me, basically been playing MMO's since EQ1 and UO. Probably played most P2P mmo's out there at one time or another, never had an account hacked in all that time untill my Aion account got hacked. I was told all the usual stuff about stop using RMT sites, stop using cheats, use a sensible password, check for key loggers, stop downloading warez, use antivirus+Firewall, ensure your machine is patched etc.

As far as I'm concerned it is all complete crap. NCSoft have got a huge problem with their security. I did nothing wrong, I have never used RMT, don't download warez, I use a sensible password, I use AntiVirus+Firewall (including 2 hardware firewalls) etc, etc, etc. I'm one of those people who is paranoid about security, I work in IT so now how important it is as well as also realising that no system is 100% secure.

Given the number of people who have been hacked though, including my own experience, I can draw no conclussion other than to state that in my opinion NCSoft have got a huge security hole at their end. Someone is getting access to account information, not just via key loggers and spam sites, but either by having direct access to the NCSoft systems or via some corrupt staff at NCSoft. Basically something is very very rotten there at the moment, and until they come clean, find the problem, and tell us about it (Rather than always blaming the customers and putting it down to key loggers, RMT sites etc) then I'm afraid NCSoft titles are completely off limits as far as I'm concerned.

Ok guys. Well here is what i know what has been going on with aion and ncsoft. Basicly Ncsoft and rmt sites (gold sellers, power leveling, so on so forth) are at war. Back when aion was launched as most of us know it was intented to use Game Guard as a primary anti hack device. Well we bitched and complained about it untill they decided to remove game guard fromt he western clients which left aion with minimal defences against hackers. ANYWAY about 3-4 months after release in the west ncsoft cracked down on botters/hackers/gold farmers (and sellers), Along with anyone using those sites to aquire kinah or a higher level. After the first TWO mass ban waves NCsoft effectivly removed almost all botters and gold sellers from the game (some survive today but NOWHERE NEAR the amount that were there last year). So this pissed off the rmt's and they turned and started attacking ncsoft and aions players... throwing up fake sites that were identical to aions home page and spaming them having people unknowingly throw away their account info. They also went after aions main sight and somehow got in and started picking off peoples accounts. Hell they even went and had a PDF. format thing that if your adobe was not updated it was able to bypass your fire wall and BAM.. bye bye account. So anyway it did not end there.. After attackin ncsoft directly for months they even went and started hacking into aions comunity site Aionsource.com attempting to match accounts that way (along with making posts that led to outside pages including but not limited to, Porn posts, Fake nudie pics, fake gaming sites with suposed 'update' leaks .. the list goes on forever. and of course these sites put keyloggers on your computer along with other virusis ). They also put posts like these on aions offical forums. There has been even more events along with some guy hacking into the servers themselves and putting a alert message up making people belive that they were recieving added bonuses for playing from launch... those of use who have and are still playing know this along with ncsoft fixing and having an annoying  allert pop up on your screen not to go on to the fake sites...  All in all any of you could have done something before you stopped playing and not have realized it as MANY people did and your account info was opend up. You dont have to admit it if you remember none of us want to feal stupid LOL.

So anyway that explains why aion has had this massive hacking problem. Its not just ncsoft either.. other companies are experiencing the same problems. Aion is sticking out because its the newer game and still has its 'fluff' on the market because there are still millions of people finding out about the game now or are just trying it for the first time. Please dont throw aion in the trash because of a problem that is all but being remidied right now. Hell the mmo tyrant WOW had worse problems with the first year of being launched aswell. Any wow players from launch remember not being able to log on their server for months or accounts leaking... or crashing left and right because of glitchy codeing?

Ok im done ranting guys. hope i helped and i hope that whatever game you guys are playing or are going to play is what your looking for. Have fun!
