Amazing news, this little gem of a game has now gone OPEN SOURCE!

What does this mean? The entire Ryzom universe is now open and free for any fan to play with / create with!

This is awesome news. I can't wait to see what sort of creations the MMORPG community comes up with as a result...
It will be awsome to see if the whinny and disgrunted mmo community can do anything that will be what the fps community are producing...probably not.

well the Ryzom engine is pretty versatile, it wouldnt be hard to do something amazing.
Heck, even if someone just opened a free Ryzom server, but with updated graphics or a new theme it would be amazing..
its sand-box, theres seasons, mobs that actually migrate, so many little details..

You still can't do that, what you can do his make the code to enable jumping in game and submit it to the dev for inclusion in the game.
or say you want to add 64 bit support or want to convert it to ms donnybrook.you peogram it send it for approval to game dev if they deem the idea worthy they might include your idea .or do like university and ms do use it as a newer tool for internal testing purpose of ms newest mmo optimisation idea!.(this seems more likelly)but some idea will trickle down to ryzom dev .
