Are quests THAT important?

I know it's a good way of leveling(in some cases) but i swear sometimes the time i waste going from one spot to another, i could have gained the same amount, if not more exp from just camping one spot. I know quests also give you the chance to get some weapons/armor, but ive found some pretty nice armor just from drops.

If you really care about grinding the same mobs, no one's stopping you. And in fact, it's the fastest way of leveling in WoW - to grind consatntly green mobs.

Quests just give you another way of leveling and a feeling that you are not grinding. But if you go only for efficency, you can turn WoW into any other regular MMO boring work of leveling. If you really like it ::::12::

Quests are the only way to raise faction.  Getting Honorable faction with a group gives you a 10% discount from merchants.  Having a good faction in neutral cities is helpful if you like PVP since the NPCs will side with whoever they like more.

They can be OMG!!11 TIS TEH GRA3t3ST!!1  And some can be teh sukk3st!  I just try to get a couple quests while I'm mob grinding and on my way back to town I turn em in and boom 1k to 2k extra xp just for going to town.

The XP reward for turning in quests is also quite good... I got my hunter to level 30 on quests alone, not once did i camp a spot and grind. People complain about how easy it is to level... thats true only if you play WoW like another MMO. Grinding mobs WILL get you alot of XP, fast... but WoW's storyline is very immersive, especially if your not rushing to level 60. there are "books" all over that you can read to get information on the story of Warcraft, and it's mythology. I stopped playing WoW not cause i was bored, or because i thought it was too easy... I'm just fed up with elves and dwarves, and am looking for a good Sci-fi MMO.

Still... quests are VERY beneficial to do, not just because of the xp reward, but also some of the item rewards are really nice. But, if you wanna grind mobs, you can, its just (unless you enjoy grinding) it'll get really boring, really fast. Quests break up the tedium of leveling, and I happen to think WoW's quest system is the best of any game I've played. (not saying that its the best out of anygame...don't want any Fanboys flaming me)

I tend to just do whatever's fun at the time - If I find an interesting quest I'll do it. If I feel like helping noobs out I'll do it. In fact, whatever I feel like doing in the game, I'll do it. I don't like to feel like I'm being pulled along by the scripting process.

Levelling is so fast in this game I kind of have to laugh at the people who always have one eye on the XP bar, constantly fighting to get their characters to level 60.

I say that quests just make the game more entertaining. Yes, by the time you travel to here, or kill this or collect this you could have gotten more XP grinding, but seriously which is funner? Griinding is probably for the hardcore players, and quests are for the casual players who want to have fun. I would reccomend quests though otherwise the game will get quite boring....

I just ask this question because i have no problem with most quests, its just the ones that require groups. I hate wasting time trying to get people to join me, i'd rather just get the job done.

When you get to lvl 60 basically all you can do is instance stuff and you need a group or raid for that
