yes, after a long and long time of playing F2P mmo´s i decided to buy guild wars for the price of 20 euros and yes it worth every penny. i always saw players posting that pay to play mmo´s are the best but i never understood how can a man pay 15 dollars a month to play WoW its way to expensive even if you got a admirable passion for the grinding game. guild wars hits the spot in every single way. with basically no grinding at all and a deeply storyline you get to do all other stuff that you cant do in other´s mmos. crafting system is simple  and quest´s are originally well design, lots of objectives to accomplish, party system well design and friendly community takes guild wars to higher levels. gameplay isn´t the greatest, as i dont like the autoattack system activated but those minor issues tend to minimize once you get in loved with the story. we get to know the history of the characters something that i never saw in others mmo. i recomend playing the trial version before playing the game cause.. well... you never know. even so i will risk it to say that this is the best mmo that i played so far

see you in the game and sorry for my bad english

Sure it is. Just because its not designed the way YOU would like an MMO to be, doesnt make it not an MMO.

Yeah it's always good to see people talking about how surprised they were with Guild Wars. It's an awesome MMORPG.

    Try using ENTER key though.

yep guild wars isnt an mmo!ok that word behing out of the way its = to wow since wow copied lot of guild wars feature

like very heavy instancing etc wow wasnt like that before but they slowly adopted the guild wars way

guild wars is a great game i do hope arenanet add a publicity method like add add placard beside sale npc ]

this would add revenue and continue support for guild wars till next year when gw2 is released!hell if its not invasive arenanet can even add that publicity palacard thing to gw2 next year!

    +multi-threaded gpu (dx11 feature)

    +microsoft donnybrook

    +64 bit

since we all see next year w7 64 bit will be the main os by a big margin

,it will have surpassed xp in about 5 month max at the pace people are buying it!

IIRC, they were former Blizzard devs that worked on the Diablo series and Warcraft the RTS game not the MMO.

It is. If STO can be considered one. I understand what you are trying to say, but for the most part, GW is an MMO. Interestingly enough, ArenaNet has stated that GW2 will be more like mainstream MMOs--which I find exciting.

Does it really matter whether Guild Wars is an MMO or not? According to the FAQ, Guild Wars is a CORPG,  and while the developers don't really consider it an MMORPG, I'm just glad we can talk about this game here. Whether it is an MMO or not, at least it is an extremely fun game, and one of the most successful as well.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear you're having fun in Guild Wars. It's my favourite game for many of the reasons you listed as well, though I do admit that I would rather have a deeper crafting system than the one we have now, if what we have can even be considered one in the first place.

    Main characters:
    Jinn Gone Quiet (Guild Wars)
    Princess Pudding (Guild Wars)

True. It is an mmo.  But it is also the most shallow type of linear mmo where by it is nothing more that a most linear quest progression as you're character is attached to a leash while being walked down one literal pathway from one quest engagement to the next in a sea of pve.

It's only augmented by fragfest pvp.

Striving for Silver Stars since Gold is so effeminate.

Honestly, GW really lost its appeal completely after the novelty wore off. I honestly can't see the draw myself, but considering there are people who go apeshit for PvP arena crap I guess there's a market.

Bans a perma, but so are sigs in necro posts.

of course youre speaking for yourself right Kordesh?

ive been playing GW1 for 4 1/2 years now, tried other MMOs and i still think that GW deserves most of my time and devotion

and arena-type PvP isnt its only draw, cuz i dont PvP much, but im still so hooked!
i enjoy competitive mission like Jade Quarry & Fort Aspenwood, and some Alliance Battles when the fits kicks in, but those are considered PvP-lite

Opinions are lovely eh? Hopefully you can find a game that will satisfy your gaming desires, sorry that Guild Wars isn't it but that is just your opinion.

Guild Wars has a lot of things for a lot of different types of gamers. Yes it is linear in story progression. No it isn't typical of most modern MMORPG's.

Guild Wars caters mainly to these type of players.

PvE Story Driven Players (players who really enjoy a good story like reading a book)

PvE Explorers (exploring is challenging without getting a warrior or something to run you around)

PvE Elite hunters (as in trying to capture all the elite skills for every class like pokemon "gotta catchem all!")

PvE Socialist (players who like to socialize in various closed instances, ie. making new friends)

Guild Driven players (players who really like to feel part of a team working for a larger goal, GW does this better than most)

PvP guild related (players who like to pvp as a guild against other guilds for competition)

PvP Arena Players (4-8 player teams in a small arena for bloody goodness)

PvP Skill driven players (GW is all about skill and skillbars not the gear you wear)

PvP Elitest (Players who like to cap out all pvp skills, elites, and armor weapon sets)

Believe it or not for being as Linear as it is, GW does cater to a wide variety of players. It may not excel in any one area over other MMO's but it does bring in a nice blend of many aspects. It does them well enough for me at least IMO to be the #1 F2P MMO of all time.

Anyway, GW is a good game, many people are still very much enjoying it. I just reinstalled it last night after a very long break, and my wife did the same. We laid back and worked on some Norn rep together so we could try and get us some prestige Norn armor we really like. It was a lot of fun playing with her. We both play rangers and we are able to setup our hero teams to suit just us playing together.

    My team = Ranger(me) -> Jora(Warrior) -> Ogden(monk) -> Vekk(elemental)

    My wife's team = Ranger(her) Jora(Warrior) -> Odgen(monk) -> Vekk(elemental)

Needless to say we handle everything pretty well in the world, and enjoy working on things to progress our characters and just have fun!

That is what GW is all about having fun!
