What happened to all these people who wanted harsh death penalties in MMOs? I guess they didn't want them after all... All this crying about how no death penalty makes a game too carebear and when someone actually does something like this everyone is unhappy.
Harsh death penalties are one thing.
Harsh death penalties, that basically force you to waste 1.38 dollars an hour to fix them is completely another.
We could've lived with FoD, if the CS was reasanoble, or perfume would be attainable in-game, in quantities more, than once a day.
I hate WoW because it made my plush hamster kill himself, created twin clones of Hitler, punched Superboy Prime in reality, stared my dog down, spoiled my grandmother, assimilated me into the Borg, then made me into a real boy, just to make me a woman again.
Did you guys really believe that they invest 12m Bucks to let you all play for free ??
No, but a lot of people believed that a game developed for a fraction of the price of a major subscription MMO (12 million is far less than the budget of any recent AAA western MMO title) would at least be playable without spending many times what it would cost to play said major subscription MMO.
I know it's more fun to argue with strawmen than real people, but the angry people aren't people who wanted to play for free. They're people who wanted to spend $10-$20/month and enjoy themselves. Just like they can in any of the subscription MMO titles.
The people who only ever intended to play for free have no reason to care whether the cash shop prices are reasonable or extortionate - they weren't planning to shop there anyway!
False, the game industry itself makes about $20 billion in profit a year.
You're citing numbers closer to the movie industry. Try about 2.5x your citing, for what the computer/console industry raked in for the last fiscal year posted.
I looked it up online and the profit of the game industry was about $20 billion in 2008. I doubt it improved 2.5X in a year. The movie industry makes even less than 2.5X as much as the gaming industry (pornography industry makes a bit closer to the gaming industry) also, I think.
oh!lol!lot of game have the 10 s of million gamer in asia ,and getting 1 billion is fairly easy in asia, asia is big ,just china alone has 300 million gamer most ignored by console industry !why because of pirate sony, wii etc ignore pretty much that market so console isnt big in china, where did china turn too p2p?was almost non existant! console ?the big 3 didnt feel their game would be safe enough so very few got console! so that leave chinese game with what?what could chinese play back then ? only f2p was avail!now those chinese FULLY SUPPORT F2P ,and dothe same medicine they suffered back then! p2p and console ignored them so they do the same message! IF YOU ARENT ON A FREE TO PLAY MODEL OF SOME SORT ?WE LL JUST FLATELLY IGNORE THE GAME! and honestly who could blame the chinese community !i would feel slighted too if 1.3 billion people market was ignored because they feered pirate or thot chinese didnt like game! if you ask around in asia you ll see plenty of game earning 1 billion very fast .it may not be in 2 month like wow but i bet at the end of the year 1 billion is easy to reach .
It's really hard to understand what you are saying, BTW. I realize you aren't a native speaker, but you should be aware of math.
Games in Asia cost much less per month than they do in the US. In Korea and China people aren't usually paying for subscriptions and are paying hourly. Those P2P MMOs count anyone who purchased game time no matter how long as a "subscriber". That's why they can boast 10 million or close to it. It should be noted that WoW also counts people who pay similarly as subscribers too (which is why it's sub numbers in Asia are so much higher than the rest of the world), which is why the numbers are so high on that.
WoW is also significantly cheaper in Asia. It's very doubtful they break 1 billion a year especially when you factor in all the other costs associated with the game. While WoW probably is easily in the high 100s of millions, I seriously doubt they break the billion mark per year in profits. When they release an expansion from box sales they may.
There are probably very few MMOs out of Asia that are breaking 100 million a year right now... Aion (obviously), but what else? I know there are others hugely profitable in Korea and China, but they aren't turning near the profits of games released internationally per subscriber.
i got insulted and flamed for saying the truth about ALLODS....... Now you all see how much they care about you . All they want is your $
Did you guys really believe that they invest 12m Bucks to let you all play for free ??
This seems to be something players just don't understand. Free to play does not mean Free Game. It means the game is FREE TO "PLAY", No retail/DD to get it, and no subscription/CC info needed, that's it.
So can you" PL AY" Allods for Free? Sure.
Can you get everything you want? Almost. Content and gear are obtainable through game play. You gotta work for it though.
Will you have to Buy items? If you are serious about the game, yes.
I feel bad for some of the gamers out there that wanted this to be their new MMO. It sounded great, a well polished, content filled, raiding, dungeon fanstasy game, and it's Free???Zomg Free WoW!!1! But without $$ to burn, this is not a good Replacement MMO. You get a better deal with WoW or W/e P2P you like. It works great for casual players though, who are only looking for something to log into once in awhile and just fuck around.
As far as the Cash Shop prices and the FoD problem, the best we can do is keep giving them feedback through forums and such (No Fix It Or Else posts though, they wont take those seriously). Im sure these guys didn't have the intention of dropping 12 mill on a game for it to just flop. Then again...a lot of MMOs that have come out recently have made dumb decisions. Lets hope Allods doesn't continue this trend.
Like I've posted before, Evolve on what's been done right, and keep out the Suck.

I hope the same thing does not happen to Aika.
I wouldn't hold my breath unfortunately...
