I want to be a Stormtrooper

Hi guys. I have never played this game and tried googling this but I was unable to find the answer.
I want to be a Stormtrooper alligned to the Galactic Empire. I don't think the game has this as a profession (sense I guess it would not be fun to be patrolling).
But does it allow you to make a strong character, (e.g. commando) but allow me to wear a Stormtrooper armor so I can roleplay? Is there a top notch Stormtrooper armor that rivals the best armors or is it just a collection armor for dressing up but not for PvP or PvE?

You can wear many different variations of ST armor. From scout (ROTJ) to the classic look. Now with the appearance tab you can wear whatever and have great stats, so your concern wouldn't matter any way.

i remember the first time i saw a player stormtrooper way back in the day.
i went into the coronet cantina after roaming the land for days since i first landed in tyrena and he was talking to a few entertainers when what appeared to be a marksman charged in and opened fire.
he rushed towards the marksman and began a series of unarmed combat 3 moves (he was a TKM, albiet i didn't know it at that time). the whole cantina (ya they used to be full of people then) stopped what they were doing to watch the scene.
the marksman ran for his life but the TKM in stormtrooper armor caught up with him, knocked him down, incapacitated him and killed him.
he proceeded to go back to chat with the cheering entertainer friends who had just witnessed a a different show for a change.
order had just been reinstated in the coronet cantina.
OK so you want to RP a Stromtrooper. You don't have to be a commando to do it though. A few of the different professions would work for you. Commando - Rifle, Carbine's (though weak in DPS), or heavy weapons. Bounty Hunter - Rifles / Carbines. Smuggler - Pistols (not as easy to find a high DPS one) or even Medic or Officer- Pistols. It'll really come down to what you what to go along with the ST part, think of it as spice to the flavor.
Armor - one of the early quest missions will get you Clone Armor which has some nice stats and while not ST, by using the Apperance tab you can cover it up. An example would be my alt I play on Vet Trials. Has on Clone Armor and then Appearance Tab's a Imp uniform over it (jacket, pants, hat, boots and gloves). Anyone looking at him see's a Imp and he's protected by his armor.
ST armor. As has been said you can go classic, scout or assualt. The stat's on them are very decent and with the added armor bonus you get via your profession skills it raises them even more. My lvl 90 smuggler wears scout 6K or so base and with his add's it's up to 8K & 9K and my lvl 74 commando alt wears clone at 5.5K and with add's puts it into the 7K's.
There are also special versions of the ST armor from some of the higher quests. The Imp theme park gets you camo ST armor and the new GCW get's you 'battle scared' ST armor.
Or if you want to use them, there are client side graphic mod's (only you can see them as they sit in your computer at your house). I had one that changed the colors on my clone armor and another that gave me the dirty, rugged look like you see in Star Wars IV with the Tatoonie ST's. There are various guilds that have you load certain one's so you can all RP together and see the same thing.
