So I was out the door about to buy GA, but before went I said to myself, let me check the stores online so I know which one to go to, come to found out you can only get it from a Download.     ???   Ummm to bad I will not DL a game and never will untill I can get a100 Gigabytes/sec download speed for under $40 a mouth(come back in the year 2020), for one takes to dam long and I like the security a box copy gives (No I don't have a burner) so guess I will not be playing this game.

You know it's funny.  I am all for downloading games, but for games I really want I like to buy the box as well.  It was a major hurdle for me to get over for Darkfall, but it worked out ok.  I see where you are coming from though.  Still I would expect to see this happen more and more with PC only games as we go forward.

Yeah, I'm old school, I like to go to the store and pick it up at my local Gamestop.

Not saying I won't buy a download only game (I did so with EVE, ROM and some others), but its not my preference.

I did download Darkfall It was the first ,only and LAST game I downloaded, after taking over 24 hours to download I said never again lol, not only did it take ages to DL it tied my internet up so I couldn't ever surf the web to watch porn (Lol Joking) it would take 5 mins to open a page and forget about playing another online game thats not going to happen without a 3k ping

Just download the fucking game!! they should seriously stop selling games in stores, who bothers to go out and buy games or movies anymore? i havent done for years. it only takes a few hours to download a game. half hour for movies(Bluray).

I cant belive people are complaining about not being able to buy the game in a store, should be the other way around!

heh I got a promo CD for eve in 2005 :P but since then Ive had to DL the game 5 times or more. Its in the stores now though. And I think a game company needs to do both DL and hard copy.. Its great that you can download a game and try it out or just plain get started right away, or perhaps the store has sold all its copies and you dont want to wait a week before joining your friends.

On the other hand many people are nostalgic for owning a box, a manual and whatever goes with the disk. And its something to put under the Xmas tree or wrap for a birthday present.. Also a store is in some cases better for our senses than a website when we want to be inspired to buy a new game and we dont know what we want yet.

But a digital download is nice when games are often not what you thought they would be and you uninstall them after a few days.. good for the enviroment and then you dont have that stupid box taunting you: "HAHAHHAHA you bought me"

BTW anyone want 50 VHS tapes of great movies? :P I still cant make myself throw them away.. and I cant hear them mocking me

Many cities in north america still have isp's that impose bandwidth caps per month.  So no, it's not viable to always download it.

Like I said I really wouldn't have a problem if I could get (100)for under $40 a mouth, Hell even 5 gigs in under a hour but that not going to happen I think the highest internet speed you can get it like 15 megs a sec for under 100 bucks, hell thats way to much to pay for internet and still not worth it unless your running a Day Trading Business from your house

What's your current connection speed? I got 20Mbits and it's no problem DL'ing games. I've been downloading games since the late 1990's ~ 56k downloading Legend Of Mir lol the pain.

But I can't see the need for chest thumping here, get a DL manager, but alot of games these days use a front end launcher that will DL manage for you. Just let it run over night, it should be done - if not run it a couple nights or while out. I know we live in the age of instant gratification and I dare say each one of us has at some point in our lives had the feeling of "if I caan't have it right now I DON'T want it evaarrrr", but don't let that spoil it! just bite the bullet and DL it.

Im on the low end like not sure the speed (I think its 2mbits) its cable internet that comes with a package deal you know, Phone,TV,Internet all for a 100 a mouth it serves me well for online gaming never do I see a ping over 100 and I do Stream HD moves with no problem, but when it comes to Downloading large file my internet fails, really the should allways offer the option to buy a Box copy, really today they would of made $50 off me and I'm sure I'm not the only one, millions will be lost due to poor marketing.

Quoted for the truth. Pointless thread just to whine about something how most games are going now adays.

Why would you not D/L it from their online store?I noticed it says 1-2 shipping days so 3-4 days max you be all set ,with a special edition box.

I was all set to try this game out as i had hoped it would be a sort of Unreal Tournament spin off,but with better compatibility issues. What i read about the game turned me off,so sadly i will not be trying this game out.I prefer vanilla skilled gaming, when i saw the stuff with flying around,i thought no way would i ever play that,i prefer controlled/skilled Z-axis fighting, you do not get that when players can freely move anywhere without earning their ground.I never liked Halo,or playing UT with translocator or low grav,i found that to be cheap kiddie entertainment.

BTW,it does not matter how fast your connection is,you are limited by the throughput from the site.Everyone pretty much has at least 500kb/s d/l speed MOST people have a minimum of 1-2 MB,but you will never see faster than 600 kb/s D/L's,so paying extra will do nothing for your D/L's.It is the UPLOAD speeds that cause the variation in pricing, this is because they don't want you sharing your bandwidth. The average speed you will see from MOST sites is around 300-450 kb/s,and everyone's D/L speed i am sure has that, even the cheapest packages.

Yes a few hours Downloading will hurt if you work from home using the internet and your internet is lagging you out from working and cost you real money (not In game gold), So I could get a new ISP and pay more taking home less gross pay, but at least I get to play Global Agenda: )

Bottom line a smart Business will do BOTH.

Wow you are living in a fantasy world. Who pays that much for the internet? Im on a 3mbps DSL line aka $25 a month and I downloaded GA in 6 hours. Woopie.

And if I need to browse the Net or Play a game, I just pause the download. Is it that hard to comprehend? Most games are going with online downloading because it requires less funding, and if you check the stats of Steam and other main internet stream downloading sites, you will see there is over 40million that use these. And all these people pay $100 a month huh?

Download it while your sleeping. There are so many solutions around your whining its not even funny anymore. Im done listening to your bullsh!t.

Well connection availability is situational here too. At my summer cottage that 2mbs connection is more like a 256kbs one.

In most major US residential hubsyou can get relatively cheap and fast broadband.

LOL You just showed how much of an idiot you are. These deals are all over the US and are VERY common in almost any area of the US. But yea, move over there, and you will still be whining like you are now, since its obvious you are not pleasable.

3 mbps connection in a Small town in PA : $25 on Epix DSL aka Frontieer. One of the crappiest out and I far exceed your expectations and speeds for way lower of a cost. You just like to whine and thats all there is to it.

I really think you and alot are missing the Point, the Point is Why no Box Copy, Why Limit your sale?

If I want to sell video wouldn't It be smart to offer both a Box copy and a D Download?

I will not likely just wait it out to see if the do drop a Box copy but today they miss out of on impulse Buying at It's best, If they do drop a Box copy they will have to wait and that's If I get the urge to spend again you never know what happens I might start playing something else and just never get around to buying GA all because of this day.

I think the lesson here today Is that money has boundaries and If you want to make the most of It, don't limit those boundaries.

    Good Day people,Off to Work!!!

There is this thing called steam, I download at 1.5 mb/s. Boxes are a horrible waste of resources and it just takes more money from the company. Gamestop doesn't really support PC gaming in store so why support them over a gaming company?
