Now the La times and the Washington post have articles on this.

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A17156-2005Feb11.html
    http://www.latimes.com/business/investing/wire/sns-ap-movie-downloading-lawsuits,1,7547481.story?coll=sns-ap-investing-headlines&ctrack=1&cset=true

The funny thing is, if you remember this Edwards guy was raising money to "fight the mpaa" in court. Rumor has it now that he knew he would have to turn over the site the whole time and prepared both logs( recording all activity and users on the site) and around 60k in donation to try to save his own ass.

All the info/rumors on the suprnova board-

I don't see the point in trying to end all of these p2p filesharing programs..there's just too many to try to stop them all.

"If you downloaded any Hollywood movie, mp3 music, software, game, or TV show from Lokitorrent recently you might be getting a letter form the MPAA or one of their sister organizations. Lokitorrents privacy policy just went out the window, your secure information is now public. What will the MPAA do with the logs it was granted by Lokitorrent?"

No, they are not going to charage downloaders with a crime. The worst they will do is send your ISP a warning letter. However, they will charge uploaders. Otherwise, they will charage 1 million lokitorrent users. Keep in mind, it just another scare tatic. For every 1 bittorrent site that goes down 10 new ones come up. Remember, loki was hosted in america, in Sweeden and Russia, the MPAA cant do shit to stop there trackers. And the P2P networks are also very strong, Ares is doing very well.

stupid considering if you use torrents when you download your uploading as well

  • DerfelCadarnDerfelCadarn Member Posts: 875

Upload in the term is different with BT. It is uploading files to lokitorrent or owning your own tracker.

I am surprised that they haven't deleted Morpheus or thinks like that. Seriously, I have never heard of this illegal download site, until now to see it has been shutdown. I do not download illegal things. Couldn't you just google it? Free music or something lol, the FBI should try doing that.

Because they can't. 1) They cannot take down p2p networks without massive legal fights. The p2p network has no centeral sever or any control of there network. Users choice to post illegal things. 2) The p2p network is outside america most of the time, Sweeden and Russia. The FBI has no jursadication there.

Remember lokitorrent was easy to pull down because its not a network. Its a site giving out freebees using bittorrent.
