Hi,

i was wondering how many had their master account ncsoft and/or aion account hacked?

it hapened to me. i dont have a keylogger since my emails and ecurrency accounts are safe. i hvent logged to phising site

so that mostly mean its was bruteforced

it took 1 week to get the password reset. 1 week and counting to get it unbanned .. how many more weeks to get all the equipement wiped from mid/high levels alts? anyway its like 1, 2 months worth of subscription and i wont be able to play properly without equipement.

How many have the same password for NC Account and Aion game account  ?  Quite a lot i'd wager

edit : Its also been proved  elsewhere by farmore intelligent people than me thats its virtually impossible to brute force an account. I dont buy all this, "ah dinnae ken it wisnae me" crap.

You really should have two different passwords (and usernames) between the NCsoft and individual game accounts, and try not to login the master account too often.

This is the main thing I liked about Requim. You have to make a password for each character you make and you cant play that character without entering the pass code first. So if somebody was to get into your account some how there is nothing they can do but look at your toons because they cant be played with out that pass code.

This has happened to me too recently. Also took a week to get the password reset. But, I have decided to stop playing the game regardless - I wanted to keep my account just in case NCsoft add expansions to the game or anything.

This is seemingly happening a lot.  I just got 3 emails from NCSoft about my Aion Game Account password being changed on an account I haven't touched -- or funded since the initial month.

And if anyone is going to try the "You have a keylogger" excuse on me, nice try.  If I had a keylogger on my computer, I'd have a lot more hacked than a freaking Aion Game account.  Something fishy is going on here, and I'm seemingly not the only person to notice this.  Just Google "Aion Game Account hacked" and you will see that Aion/NCSoft Master Accounts are getting hacked left and right.  NCSoft either has terrible security, or they have a mole.

I honestly don't care too much -- as I said, I haven't used my account in a long time.  If they want the crap on it, take it, as I don't play the game anymore and they'd have to PAY to get it...which they likely won't do.  Which is another odd thing.  It's not like my account is in use, it's been deactivated for months.  Why am I suddenly getting hacked on an account that is almost as old as the game is in the states?  It just doesn't add up to anything logical.

Say what you will it is an internal thing, I have been told by folks I know at Ncwest, that ther are some pretty sketchy folks working there. That's why I use a virtual Keybaord a key scrambler and buy Gamecards.....Hopefully the up coming company purge will take care of things.

What people don't understand atm, is that hacked accounts in Aion is a problem that is getting way out of control.   You should see, the number of people on Aion's offical forum, that this problem seems to be getting worse and worse.   It's to the point that the Devs have to repeatly warn thier player-base, in-game, forum, and thier offical site about the safety tips people here are speaking of.

However, these hackers are using very sneaky tactics to steal accounts.   Which includes, links disguised as someone normal, when actually it's a phishing site which puts a virus on your comp.  In-game links which do the same thing.   Kinah sellers, who normally just sell thier "gold", but now acutally try and steal your account.  Same thing with Power leveling services, they steal your money and your account.

Here is an example that happened recently.  A legion (guild) leader got his account hacked with no idea how he got his account hacked.  The hacker kicked a bunch of people out of the legion.   I am guessing the legion bank and the toon got robbed blind too.

But the issue you don't notice, if you didn't read my post, is that accounts are being hacked that haven't been touched in MONTHS.  How is that happening?  I haven't used my NCsoft Master Account nor my Aion account since the first month of buying the game.  If anything I did, or am doing now, that would cause this, it would have happened then.  Which means something fishy is going on.  Anyone that cannot see that needs to open their eyes.  Accounts don't magically get passwords changed, and have only to do with one specific game, if something odd isn't going on.

As I said earlier, if it's a keylogger, it would have happened not only a long time ago, but also would be happening to much more than a deactivated Aion account.

i had to giggle to meself, i got an e-mail from NCSOFT  the other day saying someone had changed my password on my Aion account .

I dont have a account for Aion or for NCSOFT for that matter :)

  • PolantarisPolantaris Member Posts: 54

No, I don't get phishing emails ever since I changed my email a few months ago and never changed it for anything I don't care about anymore (Like Aion, and NCSoft in general).  The only reason I noticed my password got changed was because I was surfing through my old email for a minute on Thunderbird and saw a message from NCSoft about it.  T'was the only email I've opened from that account in the past 2 months.  Plus, when I had my old email account, I got them all the time, and all of them were ignored and deleted....never opened.  It's easy to spot, especially when using Thunderbird or something like that, as the sender email is not what you would expect from anything relating to a game.

There are people getting account hacked that don't play the game, or don't even touch anything in game besides their characters, don't respond to messages, aren't even in Legions.  People have said that it takes over a week to even get access to your password again.  It sounds to me that something odd is going on.  I don't even care about my account, I thought I'd give some info to others because I'm not the only one whose magically had an account that hasn't been touched in months get stolen.

And if security in the game is so terrible that they can't even keep a single account from being stolen...which seems like they can't, they need to rethink their security.  When I was playing, every 30 minutes they had to make an in-game announcement about how not to do this or that or your account will be stolen, all that fun stuff.  If security is that bad, someone should have the brains to go "You know, maybe this isn't working."  Many other games use a soft keyboard pin code, or several other security measures.  If security is so bad that they need to announce how to keep your account secure every 30 minutes, maybe implementing one of those plans is a good idea.  The first thing it will do is stop the majority of accounts from being taken, due to stupid actions or not.

I notice players who use 3rd party programs for mmos usually end up complaining about being banned. Also if you buy in-game money. Eventually, may not be immediately you do get caught. Once the makers of the mmorpg start following the trails.

My personal recommendation is not to use them. But if you do. Make sure they are from a trustworthy source. When I played World of Warcraft I often used my add-ons from CURSE GAMING. As far as I know they are the only source that is pretty trustworthy.

I would not trust bot programs or anyone offering a hack. I notice those end up getting banned or the account you own completely stolen.

Under most mmorpgs there are TOS that ask you not to share your account information with anyone. There is a good reason why!

I am only sharing this information as I have played MMORPGs for a very long time. I have watched friends get devastated because they did something like buy gold. Get a account power-leveled. Only to see that account banned.

But this has nothing to do with being banned, it has to do with someone else hacking our accounts.  Accounts that haven't been used in months.

I agree that using hacks and what not are recipes for failure, but that's not the problem at the moment.
