Anything else to do besides Craft and PK?

Thats the only thing ive been hearing from in this game is .. well you can craft!! and uhhh the graphics are amazing! And you can PK!

Cool, thats great.. but is there any meat to this.  Ohh foilage? They are posting screenies of new MOVING FOILAGE? How about some mobs? This is a new gen game with "new gen" graphics.. then i want to see some new gen stuff. Not just eye candy ..

Like ive said alot of times, i would love to play this game if it had some dynamic AI and a meaningful PvP system/Keep System.

 

 

This is like the Transformers of MMO's.. it looks pretty.. but its hollow

(Mind you not my 80's transformers, im talking the Optimus with Flames and the pussy Megs)

 

Look one of my favorite games is FF3, you think i care about graphics? I dont. Keep your "moving foilage" and "grazing gazelles" , i can go watch NatGeo if i want to see pretty enviroment's

    I think today's technology is more than enough to allow us everything you said.

     Well yeah you can craft, pvp (or pk, whatever), explore,do some thieving :), build your house or guild hall, socialise bla bla bla... You can "pretty much" do whatever the hell you want, but the game is still very rough.. Im playing it regulary because i learned to enjoy it, and i realised how MUCH potential the game has to be something extraordinary. 

    Planing on joining some guild soon so that i can feel safer when i leave a city, to explore the great outdoors.

    Here is some info on what they are doing with the AI posted today by a dev.

     

    "Other then that, mobs are coming, and right now they do indeed have some issues with path-finding but we are on it. We have maybe, twice as many models done as we have mobs ingame atm. The issue is to fit all of into the big picture rather then just adding random creatures all over the place.

    The mobs right now are very very smart compared to most other mmos. The pathfinding makes them look stupid but they, in reality calculate all this:

    Are you big and scary, your size,str ? RUN!

    Are you armed, got you weapon out? RUN or make it clear that it's not cool to threaten em.

    Are there more of you then there are of us? Meaning is their pack big enough to take you out even if you are big and scary, that means they will fight.

    What type of animal am I? Different animals have different stats, wolves for example are very afraid when they are on their own put in packs they don't back off as often.

    Path-finding right now still needs work thou."

     

    As for the pvp and keeps, they want to add keeps in the future,

    Well, hopefully tons of exploration and lots of caves and dungeons. From what I heard its like UO where if you go into a dungeon its going to be pitch black? You'll need a torch or a light spell? I'm not sure on this maybe someone can fill this in. But, if thats true kinda adds to the elements of the game where you need to have a light spell or torch for a reason in a MMO again. Yeah sure its a stupid annoying effect. I hated being blind as an Erudite in EQ 1 and having to carry a WIll-o-wisp light stone in my bag just to be able to see in the game, buts minor elments that kinda evolve the game play to me anyway. That night and day have meanings and light is a factor.

     If that Dynamic- AI comes into the game the way it was put down, def count me in.  Havent heard of anything like that ever and it sounds very interesting.

     

    I hope that this game can be our new home, there are sooo many refuges from other MMO's just begging for a new MMO home, but we dont have one and we wont stand that trash stuff they are continuing to put out.

    But we can put money into this game, fund this project in away and deal with some annoyances... this really could become something great. 

     

    But who knows, im skeptical.. im done with getting my hopes up anymore and i will no longer buy at release, i wait 2-3 months.

    Well they are using the unreal engine, if they are confident it will work then the engine probably supports it. Time will tell..

    I don't believe AI is a function of the engine itself, but a function of the scripting that goes INTO the engine. If it was that simple, it would have worked from the beginning.

    Ok, but the dev said that it was the pathfinding that made the mobs look stupid. And when i was making maps and mods for ut2k3 you had to do the pathfinding yourself in the engine with the tools given... But in an mmo i dont have a clue, still i dont see any reason why they would want to do this if it was not possible from the beginning. Anyways time will tell, not much to do about it atm.
