Fallen Earth is another post apocalyptic fps mmorpg (you don't have to play in first person view if you don't want to). Let me first talk about what this game dose right. Downloading this game client was fast, very fast about 2mbps and the patching was just as fast. The character customization is there, you have a wide variety of options to make you character look exactly the way you want them to look. The tutorial is very helpful and puts you right in to the action. Not like most tutorials on other mmos that gives you the feeling of being hazed before you become a member of the world. The Graphics are very attractive' a lot of eye candy in this game. It uses just about every feature most of the newest video cards have. There is a wide variety of ranged and melee weapons. Anything from a metal pipe to a rocket launcher and anything in between.
The story is very compelling and makes you feel like you are playing the main character of a movie. I wont be a spoiler and tell you what the plot of the game is, you will find out for yourself right after the tutorial. This game has alot of potential but like most of the new mmos that come out to the market it feels unfinished. There are alot of clipping problems. First time I died I was stuck between I don't know what, but then all of a sudden i was floating while i was still stuck, very odd very odd in deed. And no i was not smoking anything. And there are times when you can see the npc's arms coming out of a solid wall, again very odd. The enemy npcs have serious pathing issues, one npc took whole 180 degree turn around me to be able to get to me and i was not standing on top of anything, again very odd.
For a game that claims being a first person rpg game, the first person controls feel very awkward. I ended up having to bind most of the keys to the standard fps keys on most fps games. But that's not the bad part, changing weapons takes about 2 seconds and the jumping feels like you are jumping in the moon sometimes. Not sure if is due to lag, but again very odd. Bottom line, if this game was just a FPS i would not buy it and I would not play it. It feels like an unfinished FPS game. The skill system and the way you put attributes to your character feels very much like Anarchy online. I go as far as to say this game is like Anarchy online but with better graphics and with the ability to use first person view that somewhat plays like a FPS. I would love to see this game give a better first person shooter experience, that dose that feel awkward. Because as it stands now it feels like they made more of an effort on the rpg aspect of the game than the actual first person combat that feels sluggish and unfinished.
Now the questing while in the tutorial was great. It told you exactly were you had to go and what you had to do, the way a good quest tracker should. After the tutorial expect to do alot of running, most quest objectives are not near the vecitny of the quest givers. So Run Forest run. The crafting system is one of the best things this game has going for itself. Every component you need for crafting in this game is around you. For example, you are in a town. you see a broken down car. You can scavenged this car and use the parts to make a weapon, an ATV or a motorbike even a new car. This game is highly depended on crafting though. so if you don't like to craft and just want to do quests and level up doing combat, you will be at a disadvantage. You will not have any decent weapons unless you buy them of another player that can craft them. And this weapons/armor will usually be worth more than you can afford.
To sum it all up, this game is a mediocre FPS and an unfinished rpg. Together they still make an unfinished game that will put off alot of people for its sluggish FPS combat. If they can overcome this huge huddles with their game through patches they may have a chance at redeeming themselves, but as the game stands now Its just another fps mmorpg that still doesn't know how to get it right. I had high hopes for this game. And Truly gave it a fair chance to win me over but it fell short. If you enjoy post apocalyptic games with alot of guns and a good story that feels epic. Give this game a try but be aware of its flaws. If you are willing to stick by them until they get this problems fixed more power to you, but i would not spend a dime on it.
I give this game a 6 out of 10
pros: gripping story, fast patching servers, a lot of eye candy, and a very informative tutorial that keeps the action going, great character customization tool.
Cons: Plenty graphical anomalies, Huge pathing issues, sluggish FPS combat, game feels unfinished.

LOL what a joke???
You obviously haven't played this game. Even the good points are ridiculous - lots of eye candy? Serious????
Weapons take 2 seconds to reload as a negative?
Screenshots from very early beta, taken from MMOsite?
Dude, you're a JOKE, and a pretty bad one. This is not a review.

Wow. I'm... astounded.
Wow.
*sigh* Move along people, nothing to see here.
Seriously:
Let's say you played the game and want to give it a fair review: why do you take screenshots that are years old and are nothing like the current capabilities of the graphics engine of the game? Too lazy? I doubt that, after all you could write a review. So either because you didn't play it in the first case, or because you were choosing old screenshots on purpose to make the game look bad. And how trustworthy is a review by someone who wants to make a game look bad on purpose?
That's just silly.
Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)
Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)
Here's my review;
As one of the world's most rabid Star Trek fans, I expected to be playing STO right now.
Instead I'm playing Fallen Earth.
If you really knew me, that would be all you need to know.
Ehum ...okay, Fallen Earth is another post apocalyptic fps mmorpg , which are all these other Post Apoc. FPS MMO you refering too?
Sorry to say but from now on lets just ignore "reviews" that didn't even do the extended tutorial/training. As that all I saw that was written by someone who ignored it and got lost, that's alI I have to say, thanks
Just to make it clear, the extended tutorial/training is given by the FIRST NPC you see when you made your choice of starter town, which is done AFTER the intro tutorial, kinda hard to really miss, since you clone almost before him. So yeah I said something more here ....sue me
"After the tutorial i didnt know what to do!"
Are you kidding me? There were quests everywere.
I remember how i got angry when some idiote gave DF a 2/10, but this is almost as foolish!
Ok, let's check this "reviewer"...

First comment in 2010, praising highly a noname F2P game.
Second comment bashing a successfull P2P game, with glaringly obviously having no info, no clue about it at all, and using 3-4 year old screenshots taken from public MMO sites (even with the pics showing that site's logo's).
Do we need to say more?

"Quest tracker doesn't work"...You actually have to pick one up for it to work since it tracks your quest. I love amatuer reviews for a different perspective but this guy is so far off that I wonder if he ever played Fallen Earth.
OH
EM
GEE
This has got to be a joke! I'm all for people posting opinions, however, this one should certainly be reviewed by a staff member here at mmorpg.com and possibly removed. I have never seen such a terrible representation of a game under the heading of review.
I was going to attempt to write a review in my post, but honestly, anything being added under this "review" would just be lost anyway. The OP should be removed from this site...
Wow.. I mean.. wow...
This is by far the worst review I've ever read of a game. 4 out of 10? Even by your own reasons it doesn't warrant that score. Nevermind your reasons are completely off base.
You sure you played the game rather than have a friend in early beta that just told you about it?
The game has bugs and needs a little work. But you didn't even focus on the main bugs.
Heh, I can just see this guy all crestfallen after the Hoover Dam wondering why Elena Winters isn't telling him what to do anymore. Quest tracker =/= NPC whispering in your ear and leading you by the nose through the whole game.
*sigh*
And I thought I'd seen it all with the "How do I get a horse?", "Why can't I loot this barrell?", "How do I raise my scavenging skill?", "Why smash no worky?" questions (over and over) in the newbie chat.
This post wins my "No, really, HOW did YOU survive the apocalypse?!?!?!" award, which is a canister of Shiva Virus with instructions to apply liberally before attempting to review another game.
As someone else said, I'm all for new perspectives (and fully aware that FE isn't perfect), but this is just taking the mick....surely?
Surely he's trolling? Or it's just jest?
...Right ?
ACTUAL hands on review:
I was up way too late clicking on rusting wheelbarrows, feeding my horse, and getting excited if I found "scrap copper". And, oh yeah, I was killed by a chicken. THAT hasn't happened to me since the earliest days of UO. Sure, it was a giant mutant chicken, but still -- a CHICKEN!
Asked my wife to check the budget to see if we can afford another game.
Yes, it's rough and unpolished. The interface is a bit flaky, you need to log out and in to get the crafting to recognize skill ups, there's a lot of small glitches and "things I'd do differently", and I suck at FPS. (I put all my skill points for combat into Pistol, and I'm much better with a knife (and spade! I killed a man with a SPADE!), because all I need to do is run to mêlée and click like a crazed weasel on speed. But it's still FUN, and that's all that matters.
Deeper review later, when I've played more than 5 or 6 hours.
I like your cut to the chase style and feel that your minimalist writing style may eventually flourish. However I feel that your MMORPG experience is short or short sited. Your obviously a young writer given your subjective reeling. That said I think you have some good ideas and turns of phrase. Slowdown, take a breath and pretend that your best friend or brother made the game your looking at. I'm not saying favour them, what Im getting at is that someone took the time to make this product. The developers are people. And people have all ranges of experience and put varying effort into their work. Have a bit of compassion for their hard work. Unfortunatly the gaming industry is full of structural design problems and worse yet the companies who have the most potential usually have the least amount of resources. So pare down your frame of reference...actually create a frame of reference and make an overt effort to understand the particular company you are looking at. If Blizzard made Fallen Earth I would be equally as rough with the pen but...they didn't.
Take aim before you fire.

Perhaps some more time playing the game. I am not sure about your connection with fps, the first thing mentioned in most fps games are how hated the bunny hopers are. FE addressed that issue well in this game so as I see it, your review is...differnt. FE does have a great story line making it more of a mmorpg than many other games. In short, your review procedures may need more time in addressing. Perhaps a class in non-bais writting.
First of all you guys are right about the quest tracker somehow it was stuck and it was not working right for me at the time i played 5 straight hours and never logged off. so that's my mistake. But regarding all other points i made about the game they stand true.
This "review" needs to be removed.
It is quite clear the reviewer is receiving their info second hand, based on old information, or has never actually played FE because the review is so completely inaccurate it is astounding how off they are.
Eye candy, lmao!
One of the biggest complaints from people that have played the game(some that still do and like it)is the lack of "eye candy", or blandness, in Fallen Earth.
Einherjar_LC says: WTB the true successor to UO or Asheron's Call pst!
Please avoid personal attacks on the OP. Respect the fact that other people may have entirely different opinions than you. Keep it civil.
Ty, and my review was changed, and is now a 5 out of 10 because as you stated i was wrong about the quest tracker.
I have been playing this game about 10 hours now and the rest of the review still holds true to my original post.
And i called the game eye-candy because I started playing after the patch the improve the graphics and it looks great especially when you have the highest settings.
I have played just about every mmorpg that has come out, And some that are in beta. And have enough experiance to tell you guys things you might not notice but I have been doing this a long time and I notice this kind of stuff.
This game has a lot of work to be done to it because it was rushed out.
This game has a lot of work to be done to it because it was rushed out.
Cause most MMO's release only when ready. If i had played a MMO only 10 hours i would certainly not review it. 10 hours yuor not even out of sector 1. To give it 5/10 is not honest.
Trust me if the game is not enjoyable at the beginning is not going to get better later on. And a lot of the things i was critical about are things you can tell right away.
Even MAG on the PS3 which is an online shooter gets better after 10 hours. Why? You unlock more guns, understand the game better due to the objectives. That's just stupid. It may not just be your thing. Mass Effect sure got better after playing for more then 10 hours. It's to bad I actually gave it a chance, huh?
[Mod Edit]
A review after 10 hours isn't much of a review... but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I think I'm going to go to a fancy restaurant, smell the food, and then write a review and post the pictures off the menu for good measure.
The first line of this being "another" post apocalyptic FPS MMO astounds me as well. Apparently I missed out on the plethora of others, which I shouldn't have because apparently they were good enough to make FE an afterthought. .. ..
My jabs and opinions aside, in all honesty, if you're going to produce a review, especially of FE, you should really consider playing and expanding on the details of your experience. If theres one community you should be wary to mess with it would be the FE community, as they'll (we'll) call you out on any inaccuracies in a heartbeat, as you may well've known.
Once again I'm not criticising the game content, but the bugs that it has. For example the combat is sluggish after 1 week of playing it is still going to be sluggish.
