Is there a way to tell from the "Pilots In Space" view whether there's a battle in that region? I know by looking at your final screenshot that there were a lot of pilots in that area... I'm just wondering because you make it sound like there's a way to tell that there was a battle going on there (other than the sheer number of ships in that system).
the direct way is to display the "number of ships killed in system" on the map, the indirect is looking for "blobs" (larger numbers of ships) on the map in areas that are in non policed space, those usually mean "something" is going on.
others ways to know, a) when there is blob that big in a choke point or at a system with a station in the outter areas it is almost always combat, there is little other reason for that many people to congragate there b) i know people who were in the specific blob

Ahhhh, haha. I assumed it was an assumption based on the number of ships present in the system. Thanks for explaining that, though.
