Okay, about five months ago, my time ran up on World of Warcraft, and I decided to stop playing for a while. Then, two months later, I discovered that my account was hacked, and someone was trying to sell in-game gold for real life money, over my account. My account has been permanently banned. I didn't touch it again, deciding that I wouldn't go back to WoW. It's been about three months since then, and I have officially given up looking for good MMO's. I've been really looking at Star Trek Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and All Point's Bulletin, but being that these games are only in the development process, I have looked back into WoW. But I want to ask the current players. How is WoW doing? Do you think that the Cataclysm expansion will be really good, or no? Why? I'd like to know what you think.
Note: If I do go back, I will be creating a completely new account, obviously, since mine is permanently banned. I was thinking about getting that World of Warcraft Battle Chest and then get Wrath of the Lich King, when I finally reach level 70. And obviously, Cataclysm when it comes out.

I'd advise waiting until the expansion comes out and just start from scratch with one of the new races they are adding. However I'm sure Cataclysm won't be coming out any time soon.
"Gypsies, tramps, and thieves, we were called by the Admin of the site . . . "
Yes because their is no other choice. I played them all, I could list them but the list would be long. My favorites were :
WoW
D&D Online- Since it went FTP, its no longer a serious game.
EQ2 - Playing it now because it's free until Dec 31th for people that ever had an account. And this time around I'm noticing how old, outdated, bugged, chopped together with all the expansions, and last just aggravating to play, nothing lean about it.
Vanguard- no population, SOE will not do anything about it. Also after level 20 most all quest are " requires three or more player" quest.
So to make a long story short, they all suck. People say EVE is good, but I played the trial and it's just not my style.
I actually just started a free trail that will run up until a little after Christmas. I had another question, though. Do you guys know if those World of Warcraft guides have any information in there that would make them worth the $25 dollars they cost?
>.< You're just playing the trial for crying out loud, for that price you could be playing the game lol
Don't buy the guides, it might shave 10-30 hours off the time it takes to het to 80, but ultimately if you spend all your time reading guides and planning how your going to level....you spending less time leveling.
go back, the new dungeon finder makes getting into instances so much easier, and bg's give XP now, not much but enough to make it worthwhile when you want to change up pace.
My Thoughts on Content Locust
I voted "No" and here's why...
At the current end game you've got afew choices:
1) PVE. You can do the same Heroic's over and over again or you can do a raid. Very boring if you've been doing this for the last few months already.
2) PVP. You can do 1 of 5 Battlegrounds (6 if you treat wintergrasp as a bg), do duels or do Arenas. Again it gets samey if you've done this alot aready.
3) Farm. You can do your 25 daily quests to meet the limit inorder to get gold, or increse reputation with certain factions. You can fly around farming materials such as minning veins etc for your other profession inorder to make items to sell on the AH to make more gold. Gold you'll find you won't really be using alot of anyway.
4) Socialise or RP. Well if that's you thing and you can try to find a guild for it, but then you'll just be idling in a city somewhere and not actually be playing the game most of the time.
If however your going to be starting from the beginning of the game, doing the quests (and now with the new lfg tool, dungeons) it can be alot of fun. No doubt about that. But, if like me you've gone through the games zones on alot of alt-characters already, then the quests/Dungeons can be boring.
I've kinda gotten bored with WOW's endgame and leveling a new alt will have the same problem (untill they release cata and re-do all the lowlvl quests zones). My only option now is to try out a new game from the beginning & enjoy all the fun of discovering everything in it.
WoW is alot of fun to pick up after a long break. If you're like me, once the dust is cleared off, its easy to see and enjoy what the game is, instead of what folks wish/think it is like the poster above me. Theres no reason you have to grind anything if you don't want to. I like to just level at my own pace, meet and make new friends and have a good time. I don't care much about how good my gear is or any of that. The less "hardcore" you are, the better the game is, in my opinion. Especially after a long break.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
me i skip ,so if this month there was a patch i ll buy a card and then ill way180 days to buy the next one that way i dont get burned from too much of the same
I'm going to assume you haven't actually played in quite a while ^^
Why'd you leave to begin with? If it's due to a lack of content, then why didn't you return for each content update? You couldn't of left due to lack of content, because you'd of went back already. So it must be boredom or burnout. So is it worth going back? I say no.
If you were a raider, you'd of likely of went back for each new raid, but you didn't. This puts you behind in gear, making it unlikely you 'll be accepted by the community for raids. Also, considering you didn't go back for the raids that have released since you quit, what's to stop you from getting bored and leaving again? Nothing, so why even go back if you know you won't stick with it. So that leaves 5 mans, and rerolling. If 5 mans is your thing, going back for 1 month will satisfy that urge. With the new LFG system, you should get all the 5 mans you want. If rerolling is your thing, then I'd wait until Cataclysm releases, since it'd offer a new 1-60 experience.
To Pheace:
But it's free... besides, it gives me more time to play. :P
To theniffrig:
Well, that is true, but the thing is. I've never had a character past level 55. And I'll be making a new account because my old one was banned. I also would like to make a character for each class, but not until I lvl the other one up all the way. I have never really experienced each class before.
To Palebane:
Yeah, everytime I'd go back, it would always be alot of fun. I tried to balance finding friends and leveling. It never really worked out well... I want to try to be a little more than just some leveler trying to get to the top. You're never gonna win the game anyways. My goal is to have fun, and be apart of a community that likes to have fun. Just go with the flow, ya know.s
To Nate1980:
Well, I left because I didn't have the money at the time to continue. Not because I was bored, although I was in a bit of rut. I don't think I'll ever follow those leveling guides again. They don't allow for any flexibility. Anyways, It wasn't until a couple of months later that I discovered my account had been hacked. It was then that I swore off WoW. But, here I am, like a scorned girlfriend (figure of speech, I'm a guy) running back to her wifebeating boyfriend. I'll probably need to buy that little device they have now that protects your account with that special code. As for raiding, I was never really into raiding. I went with this small group and was kinda disallusioned with it. Unless I'm calling the shots, I don't really wanna go there.
I have been playing the free trial for about three days and have just reached level 10 on a Tauren Shaman that I made. Although it is quite fun, I wish I had friends on there... I've never really gotten into the spirit of grouping and guilds. I'd like to though.
I voted No. Blizz are a mafia. I'm sure they will survive without me.
Now in LOTRO and enjoying it just as much as I did WoW. It's different but less hassle from Blizz in the email department.
