Since I'm getting old and grumpy I have realized the #1 priority for me in any MMO is community. Most any game can be more tolerable by getting in a guild that fits for you, but I think you all know what I mean that some games just simply have better overall communities than others. And then sometimes one person's good community is another person's elitist pricks, especially in smaller games. Opinions do vary.
I have seen random comments about how the community of FE is pretty good, but not many. OTOH, I haven't seen one negative comment about the community. Anyone who has played or is playing have an opinion?

In general I think the community is pretty good. Chat is moderated by a GM which keeps people from getting out of hand, and folks for the most part are helpful in answering questions or technical problems should they arise.
I think a lot of people though are soloing through the game, not interacting much with other players because the game is so easily soloed. I remember talking to a guy that was level 23 and he was like, 'You're the first person that's talked to me in game.' Poor guy. Ofcourse, he was probably the 5th guy I had talked to and I was level 23 also. I probably should join a guild. I'm sure that would increase my enjoyment of the game.
Yeah I'm downloading the trial right now. An empty community is never fun to me. If any of you want to meet up once I'm in-game I'd be happy to.
Based on what you posted, try getting into either, BoS or The Oldtimers guilds.
Tell them Kunra sent ya. As long as your not an A-hole(aggressive pvp type) then you will fit in well.
To be honost, it's actually the first time since years I met a great community, it has this SWG(pre-cu) community spirit, where many are very helpfull as am I.
I might be playing solo, but I am often helping other people with questions, sometimes even walk/run/escort them to spots they seem unable to find. But most common is helping how things might work, I noticed many don't understand how to balance their character as they asume getting a rifle 45 skill should effect the way they use their starters x-bow of lvl 15 requirement, where I try to explain that the weapon and gear requirement must be the same or close to the skill lvl.
I also try to answer many crafting solutions, resource spots.
But I have to be fair that I also see many questions that could be answered by simply playing the game, doing the tut. and then the training session/quest that comes after the tut. when you enter the world lvl 1/2. OVerall I feel about 70% of questions asked are simply answered by paying some attention to the game/quest, reaqd the help tips. Same as "how do I get a horse/mount", which is given to you in the chain-quest training at about the 4/5th quest in that line, or simply buy a worn horse bridle which also gives you a lowby horse for about 1white23 at the horse merchant. But still I try to help these peole even with questions about horses.
To me community aspects are one of the most important things in a MMORPG, I am sure if I have met a community like I see/experiance in FE in other MMORPG's I might have sticked with other MMORPG's aswell, but it's often the type of community that is seen in most MMORPG that drive me away from it.
I also feel that the overall very active GM's are doing a great job and thankfully have a great sense of humor evne if sometimes the help channel gets flooded with general chat, they still remain polite.
The community is awesome except for some jackasses in certain clans, but you can deal with them with 2 magnums to their head.
I'm at least going to do the trial. I read way to many good things about this game not to give it a go.

I've only had good experiences with the community. People are very helpful and don't mind answering game related questions and such. GM's are only a PM away and (in my case) always help you out. I've encountered only a few bastards who stole my kill, but I only had to say "Behave!" or something along those lines and they immediately knew what it was about, said sorry (or not) but always left me alone after that. I also recommend joining a Clan since it's easier to ask questions and it's a better game if you socialise.
My experiance is that the 24/7 active GMs in chat makes the communty behave better than most games. I have only been in s1 and cannot comment on s2 and s3.
As an example i would like to perform a not accurate chat in /help channel:
-Player1: "Oh I am feeling rather gay today"
-Player2: "HAHA you are gay"
-Player3: "I think he ment "happy and joyfull""
-GMPlayer: "And I think player2 ment the same"
And the GMPlayer response provented the whole gay discussion in chat. (Since a GM pointed that player1 did not mean the geysexualthing but the gayhappyandjoyfullthing so you can now stop discussing what the GM meant by it)
Another example; i have seen the NOOOB of all WhineyNoob post in the /help channel about how his computer shuts down every 15 minutes he plays fallen earth. Myself expect the usual MMO response; RTFM and GTFAFTC etc.
he say: "OMFG this game is so lame my computer shuts down every 15 minutes when playing this shit"
Community; "have you updated your driver"
He say" Why the F should I update my drivers. I use think *microsoft as a multimilliioncooperation* should do this for me"(Edit; He did use alot of swearing here but I do not wanna get banned.....)
-Then communty ask follow up quesiton; "have you updated your nvidia drivers(do this!)
-He say "no".
-Commuty says: "do that".
-Ge say "WTF should I update my drives for it".
-Commity say: "So you dont need to restart your computer every 15 min"
-He say: "But its always so hard to keep updated on the drivers; so they should make windows update it for me"
-Commutity say "Do you use win7?"
-he say "yes"
-then commutity say "open up Windows update; then click on "Change settings" on the right side of the screen; Then you tick on "Give me recommended updtates the same way I recive important updated"
-He say "I have done that but noting happens".
-Community; "Start windows update again. Are there any new updates".
-He "no ffs I am getting tired of this thing. you are just pulling my finger?".
-Community; "With the Windows Update Window(lolz) open, click on the "Check for updates" alternative on the right side".
He say: "Did that and it say " new recommended update".
He say: "Whops my bad. It was the nvidia driver. Tnx all"
Community say: "Gotta love win7".
Point of this community say; he say conversion? The communty stayed with him and helped a noob(maybe a girl(stop drooling!) to stay in the game.
This community is probably in my top 3 communities of all time, easily. Others would be LOTRO, and "at release" AC1.
Very helpful and friendly. For the ones that aren't, there is always a dev online to put the smack down on them.
