Lineage- Future?

AmaraoAmarao Member UncommonPosts: 650

As much as I love this game (been playing since prelude) I can't really see it growing any more. Regardless of the amazing content this game has and it's absolutely perfect PvP, what else can they really add? After turning your avatar into a bird, and an acid-induced island with a semi-holiday/Alice in wonderland theme, what the hell else can you do?

I'd like to discuss the possible future of Lineage, and exactly what can be done to fix this games slowly declining population. I acknowledge the fact that my posts here will not chance the state of the game, this is just to discuss, so please don't give me a hard time for 'whining'. Does anyone else find it strange that the second most successful mmo company can't even release a magazine ad for this game? I've seen one's for Aion, but what is the point of not advertising all of your games.. maybe I'm just missing something, but in my opinion a marketing strategy for Lineage would benefit it now more than ever. Considering that the amount of mmo players has increased a substantial amount since lineage 2's release (Thanks to WoW), keeping this game under the radar will only kill it.

I at least had hope when NCSoft began selling it's games on steam, only to see L2's blunt 55 metacritic rating. Jesus Christ, I couldn't think of a way to bat players away faster than advertise a game that boasts an E average by critics.

Things they can add-

Class changes? More Vitality changes? Expand Gracia?

Things they should add-

Content for players that aren't 70+, a better tutorial (I believe one of the biggest downfalls is that you can't find a damn person anymore until the 40's. What is a new player going to think if no one had told him this?), rewards for PvP (anything besides clan warfare is borderline non-existent), shops that sell common gear at all levels

I'd like to hear some other suggestions and opinions about this whole matter.

The game needs Free Trials and Ads. I dont see the game growing in the West because people over here only play games that are easy that hold your hand and spoon feed you. Its just the nature of the Western MMO players. Afther burning $70 on Aion and quitting in 2 weeks I am done trying games. I will be here till they pull the plug or something comes out that I know is similar to Lineage 2.

First thing one have to realise is that this game is made and future developed for the Korean playerbase.

Making things Easier will not gain more Korean players, example.

In Korea roughly 85% enjoy the pve aspect of the game and the socialising that comes with it, ( what we in the western world call grind. ) and only 15% enjoy the pvp aspect of the game.

These stastics were talked about on Elliebelly.net if anyone is intrested.

There are ALOT of people playing Lineage2 and I mean alot, only wrong thing is that they don't play on the offical servers. I am not saying that advertisment will not help the game I am only saying that the game allready have a nice playerbase just not were we play.

What I think NC should focus on is as you said advertising and starting to fix broken things in the game, and stop adding new things all the time and leave the rest of the game in a mess.

What I am talking about is things like.

    • Text errors in the English client
    • Ripping in the game world
    • Quest bugs.
    • half made content added ages ago
    • Costumer service and support ( I am not talking about bots but the reading problem the GM's have.)

O and btw They are working on the Gracia Continent. I have seen screenshots of it :D looks cool.

And I also will never leave Lineage2 it's by far the most fun game out there.

A good idea would be to cut the grind once and for all and also the bots ofc :P

This game is only playable in free servers with higher xp rates and advanced anti-bot mechanics.

The grind is what gets me as well. Honestly, I don't mind a long grind, but once you get into the upper 70s, it goes beyond the realm of sanity. What's even funnier is that apparently the Korean version of the game is actually 3x experience rate, compared to our 1x (or so I've heard). I can't figure out why NCwest would make the game even more difficult for the US playerbase, when the Koreans themselves aren't even so hardcore. Seems a bit ironic to me since the Koreans are known for enjoying grind-centric mmos, way more than your average US player.

I could be wrong about the KR version being 3x, but I know for a fact that L2SEA is 3x. It should be the same for L2NA, in my opinion.

The future of Lineage 2 is to be always and forever one of the best games for all times like Diablo, Star Craft, Half Life, Unreal, Civilization, NFS, FIFA .... and to be rule for all other MMORPGs

Personally i play L2 from beginning (4-5 years may be)  this time i was try and play hundreds of other games, but still no other game that can beat L2. NCsoft only can expand and add add add more and more content to this great game, if they close this project L2 always will exist in gaming world like fan-made free (or not so free) projects like free servers, pvp servers, open source servers and server projects. Game with millions of fans will not die till we use computers :)

L2 SEA has bought the license of Lineage2 as russia did, and is allowed to do what they want with it. ( or almost atleast. )

Lineage2 in EU / NA is run by NC West and thereby also have a Koran vesrion.

The regular Korean server dont have x3 rates.
