1 - Star Ocean 2 - Final Fantasy VII 3 - Rayman 4 - All the Tony Hawk Games
I still prefer PS2 to PS3 even though the graphics are pale in comparison.
PS Edit: Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my favorites, but sadly i've never played it for ps1. I have it on DS, which probably isnt' the same. Diseage is a lot like FF Tactics also, but it was more focused on randomly generated challenges. Which made them much easier imo.
I still consider the PS1 to be my favourite gaming platform of all time. Just too many excellent games came out on that one.
I believe the DS version is the GBA style, which was inferior to the original.
However, the PSP remake of FF Tactics is very good with extra content. Well worth having.
Disgaea was good, but not in the league of FF Tactics, which still has not been excelled for a tactical RPG.

Anyone play dragon warrior 7? I still have that sitting here. I tried to play it a few months ago but ps1 graphics burn my eyes now.
And I agree that the ps1 will go down as being one of the best systems ever. Publishers flocked to it, sooo many quality titles were put out on the ps1. Those nintendo guys can have their big clunky n64 cartridges, gimme a CD!
*props his ps1 up on its side so it will read discs

I have that one. There was some good gameplay in there, but the combat system was too basic for me.
I know what you mean about the graphics, but I am really old, and remember blocky B&W graphics (not to mention cassette drives for my first two home computers).

For me it has to be Final Fantasy VII, easily my favourite RPG. I also really loved The Legend Of Dragoon, which is also one of my son's favourite games, Xenogears, Castlevania Symphony Of The Night and Tekken 3.

The PS1 cames i remember most are the Duke Nukem games so I will have to go with Duke.

Those probably being some of the best on the console I've ever played.
1. Castlevania: Symphony of the night

3. Megaman X4
4. Dino Crisis 2
1: Star Ocean: Second Story
2: FF7

God you guys are making me want to play my old Ps1 again.
So many awesome games.
A freaking great time in console gaming.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
Final Fantasy 7 hands down!! I wish i could get that one back.
Threads of fate, I'm surprised by how few people know about that game, the story was fantastic.
A close second would have to be legend of dragoon.
No one mentioned either of the Vandal Hearts games? I mean, they weren't that bad were they....
edit: not as a #1 though i guess

I loved that series too, Im a fan of tactical rpg's. FF Tactics, Disgaea, Vandal hearts all great
Well PS1 had like 50+ epic games dude.
I think everyone of these guys could make a top 20 list easily.
Just an awesome console.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
Resident Evil 2 (more then 10 times)
Metal Gear Solid (4 times)
Silent Hill (4 times)
Dino Crisis (3 times)
Parasite Eve 2 (2 times)
Spiro The Dragon (1 time but was fun)
Grand Turismo (Mitsubishi 3000 GT twin turbo 970 Hp, Supra was hot too)
These are the ones that I beat more then 1 time.
"Zenogears" FTW
A Old Friend Once told me " I'll Make ya Famous"
im surprised only a few mentioned Crash Bandicoot, it was one of the best game in it's generation
my list of top 5 would be ( in order ) :
FFIX
FFVII
Crash Bandicoot
Silent Hill
Metal Gear ( i stay awake for 3 days in a row because of this freakin game )

So What Now?
Good thing I have a psp I can play these whenever I want
To add more to my list but not all else would take a few hehe
Monster Rancher Card Battle
Digimon World, Digimon World 2
Valkyrie Profile
Alundra
Soul Reaver Legacy of Kain
Soul Nomad
Megaman
Chrono Trigger!!!
Let's end this here lol too many games to mention.
Tekken 1, because it truly ushered in a new era of fighting games for the masses.
FFVII, great game all round & wonderful story-telling.
Legacy of Kain (whole series including Soul Reaver games) fantastic story & lore running through "almost" all of them.
Abe's Odyssey, funny, clever & ingenious, re-invigorated 2d side-scrolling games for me.
Front Mission 3, loved the combination of story, strategy & tinkering with Mechs.
Final Fantasy Tactics
Project Overkill
Those were probably my two favorites.
Honorable mention to name just a couple;
FF7
Grand Tourismo
Metal Gear
Syphon Filter
Monster Rancher
Einherjar_LC says: WTB the true successor to UO or Asheron's Call pst!
For me it has to be Final Fantasy VII, easily my favourite RPG. I also really loved The Legend Of Dragoon, which is also one of my son's favourite games, Xenogears, Castlevania Symphony Of The Night and Tekken 3.
I played Vandal Hearts 2, but it was annoying as hell that bows could not fire at angles. Very hard to take that gameplay seriously.
It was one of less than 1/2 a dozen games I ever traded in.
