Decent population/community.

Some form of fun pvp

crafting that takes time to master

some form of guild system

preferably skill based but okay if not.

I don't know about isometric or 2D buttttt A Tale In the Desert fits all of those.

Other than that, I guess you could look into games like Esteria Mythos or Land of Magic, but I don't think either involve crafting.

I'd recommend UO but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be asking if you wanted UO.

Also, you could always look into Daimonin. ;)

Ashen Empires.  It's funny that this thread is right below the stickied "List of 2.5d/Isometric MMOs."

    Ragnarok Online

It's one of the funnest games I've ever played if not the funnest.  The crafting is useful in the sense that it allows you to create elemental weapons to exploit the weaknesses of certain mobs/armor types.  There's a lot of different classes and a great progression system.  PvP is fun and meaningfull with guild wars throughout the weak where the winning guilds take control of castles and collect treasure/have access to special dungeons as a result.  It's also skill based in a lot of ways, with instant skill use during combats and actively placing spells/traps and so on.  It's one of my favorite games of all time.  I think you'd really like it.

The art design is meant for 14 year old Asian girls, thereby making Ragnarok Online a complete waste of time.

    PS: "funnest" isn't a word.

Seriously man, try Ashen Empires for a good 2.5d game.  It's skill-based, has lots of non-combat skills.  Mining, Smithing, Farming...you know, the standard stuff.  But it's a fun game and it's now completely f2p.  Still a decent sized community too.  I need to start playing again.  These 3d mmos are all the same.

Is that game still around?  I thought it was closed down...
