I dont go back to my old game cause...(write your story)

yes why?

i  think it would be good to have a thread here where gamers write down what made em quit

a game they normaly would have played for ages.

like:

I quit Lotro over the endless deed and faction grind.(periot)

I DONT want big discussions here but only a summary why people bail out of games, offen it will be*it bored me*

but maybe we find out some interesting things.

EQ because EQ2 came out :P

EQ2 because I found the endgame to be lacking, but mainly because my new internet blocks the ports to both EQ and EQ2 and refuses to open them.

I'll go back through all the games I got to at least level 20 in, then.

EQ - They dumbed everything down, took boats out of the game, ruined the immersive feel of the world by making too much fast travel and expanding too much.

Anarchy Online - Became painfully aware of the grind and got bored around level 30. Now it's just too dated of a game.

Final Fantasy XI - Became painfully aware of the grind several times and quit, would go back again but it's too dated and the playerbase is jumping ship for the sequel.

EQ2 - Decent game, all armor looks too bland or ugly. Couldn't play it for very long. With a graphical update I would go back for a while, probably.

WoW - Played on and off for a couple of years, went back for each expansion until I was just too tired of the game. Never made it to max level at any point before I got so burned out that I would never even consider going back to it again.

i'm gonna write just one down because if i write everyone mmo i played and quite it would take readers all day/night to read.

i quit WoW for 2 reasons horrible child like community and just got bored not sure why just didn't really have lasting appeal unlike most.

most mmos though didn't like gameplay or some other feature.was few because it ran smooth on windows XP but some reason won't on vista"hope windows 7 is the cure".

    1. UO - honestly can remember? Got bored? idk.

    2. Dransik - the game changed too much and became Ashen Empires. Dransik was such an amazing game. So basic, but so beautiful in it's simplicity. Really the kind of world that brings people together.

    3. SWG - Heh. Really? Do I need anything here?

    4. EVE - Off and on for 5yrs now. I'm actually playing again atm. But, I'm playing it more as a hobby and something to do when I got nothing better to do... rather than a game. I'm really enjoying the time spent on it now.

    5. Fallen Earth - Technically.... I haven't quit. GREAT game. BUT, I haven't played in almost 2 months. I still pay for the sub, but I just haven't been able to log on. I have been swamped with school work and can't commit any amount of time to a game and the game has a huge world and takes awhile to get anything productive done. Plus, I kinda burnt myself out in pre-launch. I played 12-15hrs a day, everyday, for 2 weeks straight.

    6. WoW - I really just played it to do stuff in my free time and because my wife and most of my friends played... I didn't really enjoy the game all that much. I just couldn't stomach doing anymore dungeons or raids after my friends quit. Wife still plays...... don't care though. We can't play together. Just ends up in a fight.

    6. Everything Else - Got bored of the grind, got bored of something, loss interest, novelty wore off, and "beat the game basically" where applicable. There are some great games out there if you're into grinding though.

    Hmm lets see...

DAoC - The game changed too much, too many people left.

CoH/V - Found it to be very repetitive, not into the superhero thing all that much.

SWG - Again... changed too much...

WoW - Didn't like the community, race to level cap, or the loot dependence/raiding treadmill.

AoC - Not really sure why.  Didn't like loading every zone.  When I played people would camp load points and kill you before your computer loaded you into the world.  Just left a bad taste....

WAR - It wasn't even close to being in spirit DAoC2.  They tried to appeal to the WoW audience thus alienating myself and the other DAoC fans looking for a new home.

Guild Wars - even if it's not technically classified as MMO I didn't like the lobby style of game play and the severe segregating instance stuff.

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

AC: my guild got disbanded after some RL problems between the other members and left... Got to lvl 93 there

AO: first I did not like the high level grind (my main was lvl 205 by the time) Also my guild turned pvp-intensive and also a bit headless when our guildmaster started playing less often

WoW: I am still playing, but mostly because my raid group can afford losing many people :) Getting a bit bored though, I am waiting to see if I can find a new game where I can take at least some friends to

I quit SWG because of the NGE

I played WoW off and on since late 2005 never reached max level before any of the expansion packs quit shortly after i bought WOTLK.

Haven't found a MMORPG since then that i liked.

Everquest - Sold my character 1000 bucks helped pay for some courses, I remember this because the day I went to register was sept 11/01.  Friend wakes me up saying a plane just crashed into the WTC.  Turn on my t.v. and the second plane hits.  I comment, another one just hit the other building.  Friend says nah they're replaying it.  I'm like no another one just hit look!  Then we both realized it was no accident.

DAOC - Lost interest and the constant nerfs & people jumping realms to whoever was winning.  Too many elitist jerks although I miss people knowing what to do and following instructions.  In this game you /stuck the group leader and did what you were supposed to unlike other games where people seem utterly clueless.  Had a 50 troll zerk & 50 dorf runemaster.

SWG - Same as above, I'd alternate between SWG & DAOC.  I'd alternate between daoc and this game on/off everytime I came back it was like a different game.  Played it recently this year for a month or so got a jedi to 90th and lost interest.

FFXI - Played a monk to level 30 before growing bored of the slow progress, slow travel, and lack of english speaking people.

Around this time I beta tested Guildwars for a few months and liked what I saw.  Guildmates from DAOC also joined me.  Then we got into WOW beta and played that for months.  WOW was prob the most eagerly anticipated game I've played.

WOW - Played on/off for a few years quit before TBC expansion had 60 rogue, warrior, shaman & hunter.  Main reason for quitting.... wife hates the game and gets pissed off when I played it.

Guildwars  - almsot everything that was in beta was the same as live version... got it anyways but grew bored very quickly from redoing everything.  Had a 20 warrior / ranger.

EQ2 - Picked up from bargain bin offering free 30 day subscription.  Bought gold online and made uber twinked out characters quit at around 60ish or so.  Had no interest in going higher level or continuing to pay.  It seemed like the game difficulty increased considerably after 60.  I played a warlock.

Beta tested LOTRO for a few months, actually got banned from beta for arguing with lore nerds on official forums.  I was suggesting the addition of things to improve the game and lore nerds cried that it wasn't in the books when I called them idiots I got banned.

DDO - Currently playing and enjoying it.

I've played through most of the content in GW. Some of it 5 times over. There are no longer real life prizes for winning in tournaments and therefore the toughest opponents have moved on to different games. There is no game that can keep me playing for an eternity.

Every game gets old. Even the best ones.

I quit Star Wars Galaxies because of the NGE. If it weren't for that I might still be playing today.

I quit Guild Wars because I played through the content multiple times. I kind of ran out of things to do. I went back when the expansion came out, but once I beat that a couple times I fell back into the same spot and stopped playing.

I quit WoW because I realized what an epic waste of gear grinding time it really was. Couldn't believe I had gotten suckered in for so long. I'm almost ashamed, and feel bad for those that haven't realized it yet.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

There are quite a few reasons. With time the game got a little boring and repetitive. In addition to that there were some community aspects too.

I mainly like the dungeon crawl aspect (small group content). Sometimes I go slowly, sometimes a little faster. But I hate rushing through.

    The last game turned into:

    • do the small group content with pugs
    • or raid at least 4-5 days a week with the guild/"in-game friends".

For some time I did the raiding stuff. Eventually I said that I couldn't invest that much time for raiding, but would like to cut it down to 2 days raiding a week. We played together for quite some time and thus knew each other. Also the guild was rather small and every member counted when it was about raiding. Well, the end of the story was that "professional" raiding and aiming for a raiding guild became more important for some guild members. So everyone that couldn't or didn't want to invest that much time wasn't taken to the raids anymore. Now my former guild doesn't exist anymore as people have either quit the game too, quit for other games or switched to other guilds. Oddly enough some of the more hard core raiders quit playing completely. Most that stayed with the game, now have a more casual raiding schedule.

I've left a lot of games for different reasons. I'll just list the ones that I liked the most:

    • SWG: I left this game for the same reason a lot of people did. I forget what they called the changes they implemented, but it was terrible. Yeah there are those emulators out there but there's no going back now. It had it's day.
    • WoW: Completely lost interest in this game after Wrath came out. Re-activated my subscription after cancelling several times and just couldn't get into the game anymore.
    • Warhammer: The lack of people queueing up for scenarios. Pretty much my only complaint about the game. I never liked the PVE but it's a PVP game so.... whatever.
    • DDO: Awesome game, loved the combat system, the freedom you have when building your character. I just got bored with it.
    • Aion: The disapointment of just how lame the Abyss is at lvl 25, and the fact that melee are damn near useless in PVP against ranged. I liked the classes and the pve though, just not enough to keep me playing... unless I can't find that mmo out there that is just right for me. Still looking for it.

UO: Quit because I moved and lost net connection for a little over a year. Never could work up the willpower to restart my character.

SWG: Game I started playing didn't exist anymore

F2P games (knight online/silkroak/perfect world/rappelz/mythwar etc etc etc): All had instant win buttons called a credit card. Didn't need a game like real life.

LOTRO: Presently playing but i'd drop it in seconds if a game with real crafting and real sandbox immersion came out... something like ryzom but more fluid.

I stopped playing UO to venture into other games.  It's just out dated now, waiting for the day that a proper UO 2 comes out, which will probably never happen anyways.

I quit playing Planetside because it simply died and everyone I knew that played it left.  It's also out dated and needs a new skin.

I could probably go back to Guild Wars and have a bit of fun but it wouldn't be the same.  I played pretty hardcore for a while in its first release.  I'd rather just wait for GW 2.

Going back to WoW just doesn't interest me.  Amazing game but after 4 years of it I'm just straight up bored of it.  If I went back I would last about 1 day before I got bored again.

All other MMOs I've played aren't even worth mentioning.
