Entropia - Any good?

ZorlacZorlac Member Posts: 101

Any thoughts on Entropia? The new engine looks really good and the PVP looks fun from some Youtube videos I watched.

Is it a skill based sandbox sci-fi game?

Is it possible realistically to make real $$$ from the game???

Is it polished and fun?

Be prepared to spend the next X weeks gathering sweat, unless you put money in to be bored.

Not worth playing really, unless you want to spend real cash. I mean Second Life is more fun and that game stinks.

Great idea but like any pyramid scheme you needed to get in at the begining- PLUS some shady stuff has recently went down with a player bank worth over 200,000$$$$ where the Bank Owner had her account deleted for no given reason and the money was lost- Its on their forum (or at least was) so unless your rich or dont mind pumping in lots of your money to play0 AVOID.

Like others have said, unless your willing to spend quite a bit on the game its not worth it.

actually the account just got frozen, and you failed to mention the reason why it got frozen is because there was suspicious behaviour illegal things happening ingame.  So account was frozen temporarily while investigation is held... and yes its explained exactly like this on the forum too, not like how you have explained.

    ??? WTF ???

First off- I provided a bit-o-knowledge I picked up whil reading their forum BUT what is "suspicious action"? The OP of that post (and owner of the bank in question) had no idea, proof or even response from Entropia (whoever i in charge there) as of my reading of the thread.

In a situation with REAL MONEY involved- ""account suspended for suspicios activity, blah, blah" just doesnt cut it. There needs to be some PROOF or at the very least an explaination. There was not. AND if it was "illegal" I would imagine that would be something the Authorities would get involved in and not "You did something illegal so I am banning your account and taking your cash- I dont have to give you any evidence, your just guilty, k thx bye"

It sounds shady to me- Not you?

    Do not fall for it.

Avoid Entropia like the plague, unless you enjoy spending loads of money on being bored shitless.

Great idea with disgusting execution. Biggest rip-off I've experienced in over 20years of gaming.

"Entropia Universe... the most expensive "free-to-play" MMO in history"

Entropia is a scam, a casino designed to suck you in and strip your bank account.

Ive never played any game that shares accurate details about a persons account in public forums. Other than the person involved and the game company, I doubt anyone reading the forums knows the whole truth. It could be shady business but we will never know.

Inside Entropia, people such as the previous poster "scamtropia" can indeed lose great sums of money in short periods of time with no guidance or focus. There is also a flip side to this, people like myself. I'm often upset with how MindArk handles things within the Entropia Universe; however, I've learned to make a substantial living within this universe. People often wish they could play a game for a living. I've learned to make that dream a reality by operating a business as well as skillfully playing Entropia.

If this is a scam they're pretty horrible scammers. I've taken out at least $3k US currency once per month for the past few years. I don't and haven't ever had the need to deposit so that rumor is also entirely false. I wish it weren't the truth as I'm now forced to pay the U.S. government taxes based upon my gaming income (and have for the past 5 years).

In relation to your comments regarding the beta state of Entropia. I'll agree, the product was handed out too quickly. You tested Entropia almost directly after the most major overhaul in years. I suppose their company was not able to thoroughly test this system as well as they should have but likely had some deadline they were forced to meet for financial purposes. Perhaps there is no way to really simulate the issues while testing without having people get their hands on such a product; I can't say that for certain. I'd guess that keeping accounts about 10,000 times more secure than any of the traditional MMO's are forced to is a major component in such errors.

I'd simply recommend you come back in about 6 months and give it a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th chance at that time.

I have been playing the "game" for some years and is the game i play most of the time when i play a computer game.

So do i profit from the game? No. But some good days i do, but mostly not.

Does it cost me money? Yes. but i choice myself how much i put in, i don't pay a monthly $10-15 fee.

Almost all major online games cost money, the diffrent is that here i have the chance to get something back and. Profit is not what the thing about the game is about, but the chance of makeing a profit or be able to play for free. Thats gives the game a element of excitment not found in other mmorpg:s. And you know the skills of your avatar have some real value, your gameing builds up your avatar and improves that value. But entering the game thinking "wow i am here to make a profit now!" is not the right way to look at it. The possibilty to earn money is a nice "bonus", it should not be your main goal at the start. It takes some time to get some undertanding of the game and how it works.

The game can sometimes be a bit "boring" i agree, but most games gets a bit boring now and then. But most of the time it gives my fun gameing and excitment. The other issue with the game is that it can be expansive if you games many hour each day, but in the end, you choice your own playing style and by that how much you it cost you. And some player do make profit or make enough money to be able to play for free.

I think  Enropia Universe and First Planet Calypso will have a very intresting future in the comeing years with many new features and i am glad that i am there to see it .  :)

So i recomend you all to try it, it's free to download and and free it free look around inside the universe. And if not now, try it about some month when it more of the updates is finished, some features is "turned off" right now but will be online again soon.

My tip is easy, at first treat it as any other MMO and and deposit  a amount equal of a  normal monthly fee in to the game. Use this money to get a feel for the game and if you are smart (or read alot of guids) yoiu can make that money to last a fairly long time without mutch grind.

Me i am lazy and always deposit roughtly a normal monthly fee if i intend to play the game for any longer period of time. I will never break even but i have fun and that is the important thing for me.

Anyhow i warmly recomend this odd sandbox to anyone, as long as they don't try to go the "i will never deposit" route because it is a long and boring route for most.

This have been a good conversation

If you expect to get rich quick, you couldn't be more wrong though ;-)

Sick of playing Entropia Universe? Want to quit, but don't want your hard earned money to vanish? Give your items to ME :-)

The truth is that the bank owner did not do ANY thing.

Any one can go to the bank and take loan 24/7 the owner don’t even need to log in.

MinDark screwed by letting banned player in the game (basicly they screwed and now becose they don’t want to pay they locked the bank owner).

Banned players took peds from the bank by giving there items in = mindark banned the bank owner.

    Lol just lol.

No one knows or knew this before.  Even in the real world, if police think suspicous towards you they can arrest you without any evidence. Similar to here, they temporarily suspended (different to banned - check it out in dictionary it has many cool words in there).  The reason why they suspend it, is so that thing can't go on without MA knowing... therefore they can deal with the problem without the banned player or the bank owner (who we didnt know is 100% innocent) hiding any evidence.

    One think we agree on.

Yes we only know what the bank owner told us (you can read that on EF).

But I don’t think someone whith investement of 200k $ will play dumb when we know MA banned ppl before… even start was banned becose one guy did recive to many peds when depositing (and in that case star did not do any thing).

But in honest way how many ppl will deposit (invest) in the game again now they know they can be banned over night ?

I highly recommend this game to everyone! The graphics are stunningly beautiful and the game concept is very nice. Yes, every new player knows that sweating sucks, but hey, why would Mindark give free money so easily? Either you have to work for it, or you can deposit, which makes things a lot easier.

  • ruskearuskea Member Posts: 12

and the thing that he used a bug to make few extra mod faps (most expensive item in game) and i still wonder why ur not in bans mercury...

it really is scamtropia.. stay away from it... at the moment there isnt even way to make any money without deposit which sounds even more fishy... but i think they probly expected 1000s of new players rush into this buggy/laggy shit and start depositing.. eh?

The only people making money in the "virtual economy" of Entropia are MindArk employees.

The company has made MANY inflated claims about the game, such as 500,000  - 1,000,000 players when at most there are a couple thousand playing at any given time. (Hey, MindArk, a million accounts that signed up and played for an hour is not a player base.)

They recently claimed that the A-3 Justifier Mk II SGA edition would have a real world value of $20000.00US.

It's current value in the game is about 25-30 dollars (250-300 PED).

Jon NEVERDIE Jacobs, the guy that "bought" the space station turns out to be an employee...

Mindark could not make money if players were withdrawing $3000.00US per month as this Mercury guy claims, it's just not possible because no matter how much the "virtual economy" generates the only way they get real money is for people to deposit.

If you play smart, meaning you do everything the extremely hard way, you might get 75% return but the bottom line is that to continue playing you have to deposit.

To play at any level near a normal MMORPG you have to deposit roughly 10X-20X what it would cost to play a mainstream MMO due to item decay and cost of supplies (weapons, ammunition, crafting supplies, etc).

In Entropia if you deposit $15.00 per month, the standard mainstream MMO fee, you can play hard for a couple hours, or very soft for a few days, per month and then wander around and chat the rest of the time until your next deposit.

Entropia has some attractive qualities if you have deposited and can spend, but if you are looking for a true "free" mmorpg where your progression is not based on real world money then Entropia is not going to do anything more than waste your download time.

From the tone of the entropia forums now its just a waiting game. People are preaching the "wait 3 months, it will be better" stuff now. So it's just a waiting game, in the meantime keep depositing! There are still a few high rollers left who need "donations" to keep playing hardcore.

Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!

I am not an Entropria Universe(Mindark) Employee and I have made money playing EU. It takes time and patience something I find a great deal of people don't have these days. I've seen people start from nothing and do very well in EU. I've also seen people come in and throw money at EU and not do well. Over the years I have deposited and withdrawn and done fairly well building my avatar in the process.

First Planet Calypso is still having some growing pains with the conversion to Cry Engine 2. Its to be expected with such a huge undertaking in my opinion. There are still opportunities to build up your PED card even in this environment and as it grows more opportunities will arise.

I think the main stream attitude is by just playing A+B=C type MMO I will be uber just paying my non refundable fee. EU well you need to figure out how to get to higher levels and whether you do that by spending money or finding ways to make money is entirely up to you. Freedom of choice this month I choose not to pay a dime to play my favorite RCE MMO, I know how to do that and have done it many many months at a time.

The new PC I am using to type this post is courtesy of money withdrawn from EU as well as my Cintiq and new  front load washer and dryer. Did that leave my avatar destitute? By all means no I am still finding ways to make my ped card grow and will still continue to do so.

EU takes some out of the box thinking. EU has gaming aspects and entrepeneurial aspects. I approach both in the way I play the game which is five plus years now.

So in closing I know many people at all levels of play in EU from veterans to newbies who have made some money and/or played EU for nothing and enjoy it daily. I know for a fact none of them are employees of Mindark.

In closing I can honestly say Project Entropia which is now Entropia Univeres/First Planet Calypso has not been easy. I've had my ups and downs with it over the years but when I start to see opportunities manifest themselves in my real life because of Entropia Universe, I can't help but smile a little and know all that work was worth it.

Fact check on this: Its an Improved A-3 Justifier MKII SGA which is valued fairly high at this time. Adjusted, Improved, Modified, Adapted, Customized, and Reworked items are highly sought after and very rare. Many can reduced your costs to play EU and help you grow your PED card if you know what you are doing.

What noob you are, 2 posts yeah we will trust you.

To start with imp MK 2 will NOT help you SHIT if you are not at least 7/10 on HA (for you info opalo decay less).

    Don’t make FAKE statements !

Imp mk 2 was good in 2003 when there was no min and max hit on weapons all weapons did only max dmg.

Don’t lisen to this guy he just noob, making fake statements.

Read my post nooblet reader..............."If you know what you are doing"  (ie skills in relationship to equipment, what mobs to hunt, etc, etc.)

I don't care if you listen or not. I may be a noob to you forum but I am not a noob to Project Entropia or Entropia Universe. The weapon is worth as much as people are willing to pay for it, pretty much just like anything in EU. Stick to your Opalo hunting I know people who do quite well with it as well. My statement was not fake it was just to clarify the price difference on the weapon stated in that post and why it would command a high price in the market.  There are plenty of things in EU that can help you out some are costly and some are not.

3 posts now o.O oops still can't be trusted ROFL.

Bash away at EU all you want its not for everyone as it is today. I know I enjoy it and the money I have made playing it.
