f2p mmorpg with actual fighting(in the traditional gaming sense)

the title pretty much sums it up,

i love the idea of mmorpgs but the gameplay has always bored the hell out of me to the point of not wanting to play. 

so the main thing i would like is fighting that isnt automated, and of course not lobby based, but free open worlds. everything else is trivial but it would also be cool if it were scifi/horror themed, and just generally inventive and not the typical WoW clone.
