Anyone else having the same second thoughts I'm having?

I was just about to make a thread about this.

I feel exactly the same way bro, I think it's called 'burnout'.

I also have been wondering where I can sell my CE ... but was thinking that it would be worth more in a couple years?

I think it most likely would be worth more.  WoW CEs sure were.  And you're right, I'm just burntout on it. :(

Looking forward to Aion, it''s the most polished and complete game i have ever played at a "beta" stage. The PvP was a blast, and i intent to fully support NcSoft considering how great the 1.5 patch looks...

I can tell you as FACT,this BETA is FAR from over,it will remain in Beta state for quite some time.First proof is that the entire Asian/Korean community did not approve of 1.0,so they moved to 1.5 in hopes of pleasing their entire fan base. They also stated that the move was also to please the North American AND Europe audience,so they pretty much designed a game that favored no one.

I said from the beginning that ONLY 2 factions, showed me they put out little effort and are rushing this game out to make money.Of course their has been a long beta, the game WAS and still is that far from being in the state that favors the fan base. What they did was put the game into beta phase as soon as they got it working, this does not mean they have released the entire game to you,it only means they rushed out what they already had working and are calling it"THE" game.

Get this they are already working on the next two expansions, lol ,is that not a tad bit unfair ?This is saying there is more content, but we are not going to deliver it to you now, because we need to make more money by selling expansions. So it is painfully obvious this lack of over design is because it is an unfinished product, you won't get the ACTUAL COMPLETE game until that second expansion is released.Who knows maybe by then there will be a 2.0 and a 2.5?i really get the feeling they are not sure what direction to take this game.

I know there is another post concerning the Spiritmaster class.Does it not bother anyone that the pets look rather cheap?I mean they sure painted a false picture in those scripted videos ,the pets and the SM looked simply amazing, far from what you actually get in the game.Use your pet as a shield?lol they can shoot right through it or curve fireballs around it,a fake combat design, unrealistic.

Then there is this RUMOUR about the amazing customization in AIon?huh pardon me?what sliders and dyes? That is far from amazing customization, heck Wizard 101 uses dyes. You get this EXACT same customization in a lot of games. When MMORPG's finally allow players to put their own pictures into the game, like EA sports does with it's games, maybe also their own textures, then you start to have some real customization.I am not picking on AION i am just saying ,this game does not really offer anything amazing ,to warrant myself or anyone to say"hey this game is amazing, lets play it".

BTW ,no swimming mechanics?guess what,i think we can all guarantee, this is one thing you will get ,come the rest of the beta, witch will be expansion pack 1 or 2.I am sure people have remembered me saying this in the past...it is not hard to release a polished game ,if you are not actually releasing the entire game,i said the same thing about WOW ,when it was released.Just release what you do have polished[swimming is unfinished, still beta]and tell the players this "is" the game, well it is not the finished product, they are going to sell you the rest later. The yprobably had a design for the game to have 3 or 4 or 5 factions, but it is not ready, yep still BETA.

IMO you should NOT be working on expansions until you have the present game COMPLETE and in the state that the majority of the fanbase is happy with.Actually you should not be calling this beta,it is ALPHA,BETA is when they release the rest of the content and test it,that is the next 2 xpacs. That content they are working on ,SHOULD be given to you,but guess what, that is more beta ,more testing. It is much easier to sell you what they already have.

The last CB was my third and i didnt play much at all. I just didnt feel the pull to log in and play. The art style really appeals to me and I can not find a specific reason for it but the drive just wasnt there. Its a good game but i already own some good games and at this point I cant really see myself picking up my preorder on launch day. That could change but not likely.

You should probably add some proof when you make grandiose statements. Try to follow the Humean Principle - the more astounding a statement is, the greater the evidence should be for it.

If anything, I draw more positives from your statement than negatives. People weren't happy with the content from 1.0 so they fixed the issues and added a lot of content in 1.5, how is that bad?

I'm looking forward to the expansions. That at least gives the air that NCsoft has faith that it's product will last that long. Maybe it's a good thing that a company is working on giving us a big, finished expansion when it's ready in addition to huge content patches like 1.5. I'm pretty upset with each of Blizzard's expansions until 6 months to 1 year after they come out, that's when you actually get the content you were waiting for (Icecrown Citadel anyone?). You also have to realize that an expansion is more needed for the Asian player-base since it's been out there for over 8 months.

I'm not sure what it means for an MMO to be complete? Open beta will be with 1.5 and that means full endgame content and tons of bug fixes. Greater than most MMO launches of the past decade.

Swimming mechanics are part of the lore, sorry if you don't like it, but it seems like you didn't search for a reason why before complaining. I personally love the customization, it's powerful enough for people to make obama, wolverine, and NE's which make me lawl and enjoy people's creativity.

Fake combat design? Skill-chain system is awesome thx.

I ordered the CE and didn't play any Beta at all.  Intentionally.  Like someone said earlier, betas have this bad tendency to ruin games for me.  I beta'd WoW, EQ2, VG, LOTRO, and a few other high end games and never got into them very long afterward.  With Aion, I want to enjoy the game and enjoy some decent pvp, so I am leaving it alone until a week or two after launch.  Then I will come in and check things out.

Your post shouldn't deserve a reply but before some bashes you I'll say something.

So you think aion is a grinding game because ncsoft made L2? Without even know anything about the game and even had the opportunity to try it for free so no comments....

Lol looking at his posts turns out he was one of the people that fell for darkfail. I trust his judgment on MMO's.

If that's the case then your right :P

Me, falling for Darkfall ? Are u out of ur mind ? U must not be able to read then i fear. I kept saying Darkfall was Dark & Light bis and, guess what, it was !

So no i say AION = L2 oh and NCSOFT ? they did RF online too oh ? Was GRIND FEST, L1 ? GRIND FEST, hm other korean MMORPGS ? Grindfestival x10, even worse than chinese stuff like Hanghai, PFI or wtf ever.

The only good thing bout NCSOFT is that they also did City of Heroes & Vilains and they did Guild wars which were pretty decent.

So yeah, to the fanboys who love big korean boobies on female anime-like characters, i say quest driven ? lol, Balance ? Lol x2.

U wanna settle for korean ? Go to Seoul, at least they got real hot chicks, real real hot & very fashionnable.

I pre-ordered, played the betas and loved the game. Attempts to flame the game because it is "supposed" beta forever, just doesn't work.

The closed beta was so smooth it was ready for commercial release in my view. MMO's are always in a state of development. That's what continually makes them unique. I would hate to ever play an MMO that made a claim it was in its final form. The games popularity just would not last long.

  • WickedjellyWickedjelly Member, Newbie CommonPosts: 4,990

Actually, if I wouldn't have got an invite to beta I doubt I ever would have been interested in this game.  I didn't care at all about this game beforehand and nothing I saw beforehand interested me in the least about the game especially since i'm not a huge fan of the artwork the game uses.  It was playing in beta that actually got me into the game and got me to purchase the game.  I was pleasantly surprised by this game.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Here's an honest tip. One thing I noticed is with betas, I tend to take away some excitement I have for the game.

So my strategy is simple. I am going to play Asmodyan, and likely a Sorc. However, in CB6, I played Elyos and as a Templar. I will also play Elyos and likely a different class in open beta. On top of all that, I will severely limit how much I play.

By doing this, I will at least feel something different when I first start when it goes live as an Asmodyan Sorc. This isnt for everyone, but it is working for me (my excitement for Aion is actually greater)

What did female characters have to do with anything I said?

Point of fact: go to AionArmory.com and click on Quests. You will be greeted with "1,987 Quests were found."

Chances are they didn't even include all of them. Quests are the predominant source of XP and level gain in Aion, and more are being added in each patch.

Aion = L2 is like saying WoW = EQ.

I don't fear for your ability to read, but in your comprehension since you are so misinformed in your statements.

I only played CBT5 and CBT6. I plan to play OB and YES I'am definitely playing retail version. This game is very refreshig and I can feel It's gonna be huge.

It's a joy to play a game  so polished and beautiful, still deep and interesting.

    Yes I will.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

This is exactly why I played all six betas and only have a level 17 character as my highest level.. I limited myself so I don't get burned out, and don't lose interest come launch.

I stopped reading after "2 factions".  There are three.. the third one is indeed it's own faction, even if it is AI driven.

Make sure before you slam walls of text at us that you are properly informed.

Same.. but.. I did cancel my yesterday.  For ME it was just to FREE2PLAY feel to it. FUN but not worth $15

I played Aion in beta. I went to gamestop about 2 hours ago and canceled it. To me it seemed like I was riding a train, going in a straight line. The only difference that I really saw between the two sides is textures and models. I tried several times to even get past level 7-8. But it bored me to tears and I couldn't stand the thought of logging in. it just wasn't for me. I preferred CO and put my Aion money on that instead. I'm not really into PvP anyway. Just wasn't my type of MMO.

To those playing, good luck and have fun.
