The closest to non-white would be the saracens in Albion who represent Arab Muslims brought back to the British Empire during the time of the Crusades (see here:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saracen), but otherwise there aren't any non-white peoples represented in DAOC.  Albion is Britain; Hibernia is Ireland; Midgard is Scandinavia.  There are no indigenous non-white peoples in these areas.

So, nope, at present you can't have a character with black skin in DAOC.

    No.

Nor is there anyway at all to change skin colors on existing characters. There is no skin color customization at all. I can't make a "Black Irishman" even though they existed in real life. SWG has the absolutly best skin color customization out of any MMORPG created, including future MMORPGs not yet released.

First ... Africa did not exist back then. It did not exist during medieval times and the dark ages. Africa has only existed for roughly the past The word "Africa" comes from a European, Greek explorer, named Leo Africanus. Years later after medieval times, he discovered this big, new continent, that no one was living on. When he returned back to Europe he didn't tell the European mapmakers about the hundreds of cities, the many empires, and 30+ million Nubians, Egyptians, Ethiopians, living there. So they named this empty continent after him - Africanus = Africa.

(America was an even better case. Amerigo Vespucci never even stepped foot on the continent that got named after him LOL!)

     1. The medieval ages/dark ages is a time period, not a location. So yes there were humans with many types of skin colors during medieval times and the dark ages.

     2. DAoC takes place in Northwestern Europe. Is it possible for there to be any dark skinned humans in that area of the world during medieval times? During the dark ages? Yes. Because the Roman Empire invaded Britian. Britian is the most mutt-mixed country on the planet. The Anglos invaded, the Saxxons invaded, so did the Jutes, and Normans.

     3. The Normans were from mainland Europe. Their tribe reached to Southern Europe. Thus they did have dealings with Egypt, and Nubia. (modern day Africa. Trade, war, sex, etc... So some of them could/would/did have black skin.

     4. The Roman Empire extended all the way deep into Egypt, Nubia, some of Ethiopia (aka Modern day Africa.) And also into Asia, Persia, and India. Tons of sex happened. Also many Roman victories were won by simply impressing the enemy into not fighting at all - but just joining the Romans. Dark skin in Asians, Indians, Nubians, Egyptians, and Ethiopians, is a dominate genetic trate. Sooo.... it is very possible for there to be dark skin Roman soldiers. And since back then the victors had their way with the women of the dead losers... you know the rest. Usually they just killed off the women and childern of the losers too. More food to go around. Just like in the movie King Arthur when the Anglo warlord sliced the head off the Saxxon woman his men were having their way with. (Or was it the Saxxon warlord slaying the Anglo woman?)

saracens have darker skin but generally no. Maybe it is possible to change the skin with the catacombs expansion.

I do not think black is an option, but it might be.  I hate alb.  But yes in Catacombs you can change your skin, hair, and eye color.
