I believe the xbox version of AoC was finally (unofficially) canned with the latest financial report from Funcom.

While every report, since before AoC launched, have been mentioning the Xbox version, the current report no longer mentions an AoC Xbox version.

Funcom does talk about a game for Xbox - But only their next MMO: "The Secret World".

In short: Not happening - Don't hold your breath.

We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!
    (repeat ad infinitum)

wonder if anyone will still care when, if ever, it sees release.

If you had a PC game that ranked number 4 and still lost 33 million dollars and generated an unfathonable amount of negative hype, which was rightfully earned......would you realease it for the X box?

    1) They can't afford it.

    2) Console players are bigger critiques that PC gamers, it is no where near ready.

    3) Sadly the PC version was a demo for the console port.....that is why combat is so silly and simple, with a simon says arrow game.

    4)  The PC only has a 3 North American servers left, and the Role Players are rebelling and leaving,so it is a good bet people don't like this game.

    5) PvP is still a big tacked on joke, there used to be more PvPers than PvE server people....that seemed to change.

    6) The PC version keeps having fewer and fewer subscribers every 3 months, even with free subs and junk....so why would x boxers play it?

    7) Are many more reasons, AoC was a miss hyped nitche game without a nitch. It seems to only cater to super duper casuals who don't raid or PvP who don't mind spending 15/ month to chill, or they forget they are paying.

Funcom has reviewed all of its assets relevant for
impairment testing. This process has led to
recognition of an impairment loss of around
3,1 MUSD for Age of Conan due to a decrease in
numbers of subscribers for the game. Funcom Q4 10 report.

$40 million in the bank in cash, turned a blind eye or don't want to equally acknowledge? or the market research that obviously shows there is a market there, just like Turbine lotro, Sony with The Agency or even Champions online. Crystal ball for much of this, can I borrow it?

    Most likely

Well if thats what you think, the playing community from several polls from when you plast played months back disagree.

Age of Conan has more servers than EQ2, more EU servers than LOTRO, and actually 8 US servers. RP is healthy and commonplace (calendar check on forums, relaunch of RP websites, and Machinima contests) -
    5) PvP is still a big tacked on joke, there used to be more PvPers than PvE server people....that seemed to change.
It has been 50/50 since 1/2 in AoC's first year. You know, based on community results.

    Why would they not?

It seems that with Turbine keeping quiet about LOTRO port to 360, Champions Online port being pushed back, The Agency being pushed back, we will have to see what happens.

Personally I think it won't happen now.

  • Ah Funcom, you fooled me twice, and never again. Good luck with the console crowd.

I seem to recall, but could be wrong, reading that the dev team working on the 360 port had been moved to other projects?

Also to back up one of fintacid's claims, you can google it yourself but there is vid interview with a dev saying combat was designed with console players in mind.
