Images are black

Since i have joined this place, i have never been able to see any of those images in our posts... there just black squares with blue rims.

there not even clickable... and some of the in the past have been, and they never did anything.

Ocassionally one or 2 does show in the squares, but can't see the larger ver.

By this i mean in the News room and stuff like that...

I can see pictures people post in the forums and use for the avatars.... but every time

CHECK OUT THESE 15 NEW SCREEN SHOTS

there just black squares....

sigh... no one knows whats wrong?

Oh and also I am forever blocking downloads of ad Avenue and other forms of spyware/adware/malware from this site... or the adverts on this site...

I think that should be taken a look at too...

and we need a way to search all of our own posts... sometimes you can't log on for a few days, and there is no way to search for topics by you...

you can only search for topics that your name has been mentioned in.

Hmmm... I honestly don't know what's up with your not being able to see pics and stuff, prolit probably has something to do with your internet settings or your web browser.

As for Spyware, etc. I haven't really had any problems with that at all from this site, as far as I can tell. Perhaps you have some nasty stuff that is running in your background that is popping up while you're cruising the net. Are you sure it's coming from this site? I really doubt it. You might wanny get some programs like Spybot, Ad aware and Hijack This! Careful with that last one though, you can screw yourself pretty good if you don't know what you're doing.

As for finding your threads/posts, there is an option when you are reading a thread, or also when you're making a post, right below where you're typing where you can subscribe to the topic. You'll get e-mails with links to the threads that you're subscribed to when people reply and stuff like that.

Hope that helped you out a littl bit.

Lol I have no spyware on my computer.. I run scans every couple of days... it comes from this site and many others...

i didn't get any of them for a few days, but in those few days i was unable to reply to any posts in the forum... and when i checked mmorpg.com today staright away, SPYBOTSEARCH AND DESTROY has blocked the download of A AVENUE something or other...

the one i always get... adaware is shit... but hijacker is good, tho i don't use it. Spybot search and destroy v 1.3 protects my computer from all that shit. It stops anything from even being downloaded in the first place, anything thats malicious that is.

And images work on any other site.. its just this one they show up as black on...

g's you would think that you think i'm some uneducated hick that doesn't know how to operate a computer...

I have seen this many times before...normally it is because the person is running "ad blocking" software - programs that supposedly detect banner ads based on the size of the image and block it.

Well that explains why the images are black...

it doesn't explain why Ad Avenue, INC has to be blocked on alot of most pages on the site tho...

Tho today it hasn't had to so far...

With the exception of the "Matrix Online" ads - all of our advertising is internally hosted...although I think thier banners were being hosted by a company under a different name than that.

Avenue Ad. Inc is a tracking cookie/spamware. I don't apreciate them. The general page is where they usually happen.. but as i have said before, they can even try and auto download when browsing the forum.... no images there.

I don't know if its placement was intentional or not, and i've got no clue how its also not always there.. but hey at least its not as bad as some of the spamwear i've had in the passed being tryed to download from "respectable companies"

You are seeing this on OUR site? That does not make sense. All of our ads are 100% internally hosted and I have no idea who that company is...we have no affiliation with them whatsoever. The only time we ever allowed 3rd party ads was with the Matrix ads - but they have been done for over a week.

Any chance that you have a spyware program that is calling these things in the background? You can pull up the source code on our pages...we don't have anything like this running on our site - anywhere.

If you tell me the program you are running that is finding this as well as your browser I can try to re-create it on my system - perhaps some other users can try too.

Spybot search and destroy v1.3 with imunisation on and blocking on er... show dialouge when blocking.

to be honest i haven't had a problem with it in the last week mb 2... but it used to happen on any page i loaded... forum, home or otherwise.

Ok, then that might have been those Matrix banners that were hosted by an outside network. I would not worry much - it was probably just a cookie that is tracking how many times a person viewed their ads.

We are currently running a small amount of Ultima Online ads that are hosted by DoubleClick...not sure if those will pop anything - but I already expressed to EA that I did not want tracking cookies used if I allowed 3rd party ad serving.

I come back to the forum for the first time in a couple of days or so... and every page boom blocked ad, blocked ad.. the Ad Avenue Inc or whatever it is (i have a really bad short term memory) so i look to the top of the page and what do i see... Matrix bannars hehe.

I'm not worried tho, cos I block em... its all the people who don't who gotta worry hehe

I wonder if many of the folk with these issues are using IE? I just gave http://www.mmorpg.com a go in IE and its a mess, I think its the activeX in macromedia flash thats doing this....

I use Firefox and have zero problems, I forgot just how bad IE was thanks for the reminder ::::28::

LoL spybot search and destroy thats funny you use that crap all that does is mess with your comp I mean who doesn't know that as for the black images trying going to the windows update site for once your life it jsut might help what os your running 2000? the best ones are either 98 or xp. Back to spybot who ever uses that n00b program gets whatever it does to there comp the long term damage and all I will be laughing when I see your post at a tech forum and all I will say is I told you so, I am in a good mood I will tell you what to use that gets rid of all trojans(a new word for some of you) virus and "spyware".

First you need to understand the logic on how it runs everytime you start your comp a program is in the win.ini(for 98) and tells it to boot up stop the the trojan or spyware from booting up your problems are solved and scans don't caught everything hackers made these really cool things called worms and no there don't eat your data(thinks of what his friend tried to tell him) so get something that stops those programs from starting up but you need some knowledge of what your doing just a little go to download.com and get system mechanic I don't know if they host the old version 3.0 i think its just 5.0 anyways download it use the free 30 day trial go to the boot-up thing and see whats going down don't use the spyware and it cause its gay and doesn't work 5.0 is really crap they have things there just to look cool. Have fun fixing your comp and don't fuck it up cause xp doesn't have dos

Bullshit its a great lil program for eliminating all elements of spyware with all differant types of lists shredders and tools. With detailed info on each file you click. It shows stuff in your startup that ur startup doesn't even show and you can get rid of it from there.

Any files that refuse to delete shove it in the secure shredder and sure enough that viri or whatever is now no longer a problem.

For once in my life? Mate I fucking check the updates all the time, no shit 98 was the best.. what the fuck are u asuming this shit about me for? I run XP i built this machiene myself and I know what I am doing with computers.

I have used the program for years, my last computer and this one... and its got better and better, it stops all the shit being downloaded onto my computer in the first place with its little imunisation tool. On top of that a free Viri Scanner called Anti Vir is something i also use seing as NIS + NAV 2004 is still complete shite. Its so shite that when i ran anti vir on my system, it found 7 worms and 2 Trojans within Norton itself lol.
And you know what, Fuck you. Whoever you are, assuming that ur the diffinitive authority and assuming that i know nothing, calling me a noob saying i use noob programs, when your probbably one of those dicks who uses pentium proccesors and buys from PC world and Dell and shit like that.

And You know what? SB Search and destroy stops them from starting up... and u know what else.. it stops them form even being downloaded. I got 2 viri scanners and 2 firewalls as well.
I have fix peoples computsers that woudln't even turn on by taking my HD round to theres and running Anti Vir, SB Search and Destroy, and a few diagnostics. So u go on thinking what you will, and enjoy the rest of your life.

Damn its someones time of month, and goddamn what do you care of my spelling and grammer so what I failed english in highschool which I am stilll in. Fixing peoples comps is nothing you don't need spybot search and destroy all you need is a good old fasion dos boot disk and some knowledge on dos. If you thing you know everything you wouldn't use spybot search and destroy because all it does is fuck with your comp think is doesn't I have a few friends that would disagree and proable more 1337 in comps then you. All in all thing what you want to think do what you want to do and say what you want to say, sooner or later face the facts spybot search and destroy is a n00b program for n00b problems and I will enjoy the rest of my life.

I dont care about your spelling and grammer, but i like to be able to read posts without having to go over them a few times to work out what exactly your saying. I mean come on "If you thing u know everything u wouldnt" and "think is doesnt i have a few friends" these are just a couple of examples from your short post... think how many of those there were in that really long one.. not exactly fluidic reading.

A noob program for noob problems. Right. It just works better than the programs i've used in design companys. They all swear by 2 programs. I used spybot and it found more shit than there 2 programs. One of which i think you found.

To fix there comp... I did need to use spybot, and antivir... because the problem with there computer was that it was so virused up and had so many lil bits of spywear, and so many unremovable viruses.. that both the programs in conjuction with each other (Especially Spybots Secure Shredder and Starup List)

And that is generally the way i fix most peoples computers around here, because you can tell them to defrag every one to 2 weeks, you can tell em to run viri scans, and spy scans, and to make sure not to accept downloads of stupid cookies and shit like that.. but you can return in a month and they wont have done a thing like it.. and hey I get another job. Untill they finally start looking out for there shit. The last family i had to fix there comp for them so many times, not including all the instilation of new hardwear, certain parts not working and having to work out weather it was the leads or the drives etc etc.

Computers are still not that big over here... they are getting to the point where most families have got one at last.. but people still have no clue to look after them.

Better machienes than me? They probably have, I built this one almost a year ago and haven't had the time to be upgrading it. All the same if they got pentiums in there PC's then i don't wanna know cos pentiums are shit.

256MB ATI Radeon 9600 pro (Yeah ATi drivers do suck, but its cheap and fast and ive sorted most probs)

40x CDRW DVDRW combo drive
Plus I pimped my rig a bit with a window and 7 fans a couple of which flash, fan control, neon lights.
And my Midi Kb and shit for making music. I don't think u need ne more than that.

Back to the topic... I can't say spybots the best because I have not tryed everything out there.. but I have tryed alot of things and through trial and error I've found a viri scanner (anti vir) and a spy/ad/ware blocker/destroyer That i have used for years (well not anti vir thats a few months on the go) and have never given me any problems.

Yeah there are programs with a more hardware look that give you even more control over what you are doing. Might give you a more professional feel. But its like the whole cubase/fruity loops debate. Its easyer to get a good sound out of cubase, and certain things within that program are just phenominal.. and people slate fruity.. but you get to know fruity through and through and you find that there is so much more you can do with fruity. It might take you longer to be sounding really professional with the program, and people might slag ya off for using it... you play them a tune and there like "Shit that was made if fruityloops?"

People only know what you tell em. Unless they go out and discover things for themselves. Its a shame most people are too lazy to experiment.

Either way your a lil 16yr old who still uses terms like noob spelt: n00b and you still think 1337 speak is cool, and all your info sounds like recycled information that just isn't quite right. Your friends might know there shit. Shit some people at a very young age could set up a whole ISP and make millions if they thought about it.. but most people at that age only know a limited amount in certain areas. I'm not saying i am no Pro with computers. Far from it.. I was self taught in everything I've done.. from building computers, to webpages, to music, to working out what programs I find work best for me. A new one comes out.. I try it and see what its like.. I compare to the others, and i then delete the worse of the 2... well sometimes I Keep both if they serve slightly diff purposes.
