I few questions If I may?

What resolution are you running, Dose your 8800gtx do the job for you ( all your games maxed out , with 60 frames or better) Can you list your system spec's

    OK ..1680x1050 or lower resolution:

    1) Direct replacement, with performance gains, get the GTS250 for about $140.00

    2) Upgrade in performances, the GTX275 for under $250.00

    Sum of FPS Benchmarks 1680x1050:

no that wasnt a typo =] 4790 is realy a card its a single card unlike the other dubble cards (1 cpu of a card instead of 2)

its a bit like on geforce u got 275 / 285 / 295 the 295 came b4 the 285 (its allmost the same but has a lil bit small tweaks to it that it aitn as powerfull)

the 4790 allso came after 4890 its the card they use to go against the 285 and ended up competeing with the 295 when overclocked

4790 is not the same as 4890, may as well get the 4890 for lots of reasons. Also 4890 is the one in the pricerange you're talking, so the response above was right. Meanwhile you'll notice, I've never really seen a 4790. Just some typo'd search results.

Do you have ANY freaking clue on what you are talking about?? There is NO 4790.....You might have prolly mistook it for HD 4770....a 256 bit DDR5 card...overclockable and pretty cheap...Approx 90 - 100$.....2 of these cards Crossfired will come close to a 4890....And they have really good coolers :)

I upgraded from the Nvidia 8800 GTS 320 to the GTX 285.  It took a huge chunk out of my wallet though, but you see a helluva difference from 320 megs to 1 gig.  The card is bigger than the 8800 too, it barely fit in my computer.

I forgot, I also had to upgrade my power supply.  I had a 500watt, but the GTX, If I remember right, required a 575 watt, so I bought a 750 watt just to be on the safe side.

If you have an 8800GTX you skip this generation and go straight into the HD5000's or GTX300's.  The performance you will gain when going to an HD4890 or GTX285 is negligible.  I would just get a can of CO2 and blow out the dust.

    GTX 285

Or better yet... go and clean your graphics card.

Don't you just love it when people who knows very little thinks that they knows very much?

Went from an 8800 GTS 320 to a GTX 260 216sp  Actually got quite a big increase in performance in VG I get 60+ FPS with max settings and 16x AA/AF where before I could only get that with no AA/AF and lower texture quality.  Card was less than 200 bucks.
