Alright, So I have been an MMORPG forum user for around 5 years now spanning 2 accounts, only due to the fact that I forgot a user name and login a while back and started new. The reason I am upset is this. Many of us use this site all the time, dailey for some of us like myself. From time to time MMORPG starts a contest... SWEET! Some of MMORPG's contest are pretty damn good, like this last one with the G11 Keyboard and Mouse involving CoSB. I enter every contest on this site and lose. Which is ok to lose, but I don't feel as though I should lose to people who aren't even interested in this site or the community, just the keyboard. Take this guy.
xS0u1zx
Winner of the G11 Keyboard. Does anyone know this guy? I don't, been coming here for years and never seen this guy post shit. Even tried to do a forum wide search, just to see if he is active.... notta. So people like us who come here like a religion and raise the hit counter dailey for MMORPG get shafted so Mr. xS0u1zx can roll in here off the street and make a new account and get a keyboard. Not so cool.
My suggestion is that MMORPG put a requirement restriction on who can enter the contest for physical prizes. I'm not talking about 1 month free to random asian grinder #892378456873465786 but on contest where $100 dollar keyboards and $30 dollar mouses are involved. I say make it so only members who have had an active account for at least 3 month/90 days, with a post count of at least 100 should be allowed to enter these contest. I promise if they do that, we wouldn't have 8,000 contestants entered to win and maybe only around 2-3000. Making those loyal to the site much more likely to walk away with a prize. 5 years of entering on this site, and nothing! You guys should give me a jar jar doll or something just for waiting this long to nerd rage about it.
Maybe one of the mods can help me out here.
Yeah, I agree that its not right to loose to a player that hardly spends any time on the site compared to you (An elite 500+) But the only logical thing I can think of is that he submitted whatever he needed to and it was better than your submission (I've not actually heared or taken part in this contest as I'm a new member really - could you explain what you had to do?) But other than that thats pretty unjustified. Maybe next time? : P Take care.
You don't do anything, you just sign up and enter like a sweepstakes.
Which is why it bothers me, If it were some essay on why we think we should win it would be different.
The way the contest here are conducted is, make an account, or have an existing account, and press enter contest.
That's it.
So that being the case, the odds are very stacked against the regular community of MMORPG. We have to compete with members who more than likely heard from cousin jethro that MMORPG.com is giving away a keyboard, and came here to make an account for it.
It just isn't played right is all I am saying.
Mate... I completley agree with you. I'm not trying to bash the MMORPG.COM admins or anything like that. I would like to swear right now but I'm not going to : P That makes no sense at all... you dont have to do anything to enter the comp? Its just a random roll to see who wins? Any Newbie could join and then win without contributing.....I'm frustrated as hell at this xD
Fucking right! else you go on the black list and wont ever win shit!
Hehe, I just don't want to get banned or anything like that. Its an really unfair system in my opinion. But everyone has there own opinion right?
I won a copy of Star Wars Jump to Light Speed, 4 or 5 years ago when I posted quite a bit, who knows. Back then there wasn't close to as many people here. I liked it back then, before this place became a banner add source of income.
They should ban capatalism for the sake of the goo-ol-days dont you think?

In my opinion I think that every company sooner or later delves into the "money grabbing" world. They would probably start of by wanting to create a great game (This does not have to be about games ofc) and have a burning passion for what they do. Eventually they would want to just get as much profit as they could via mass advertising... *Cough* Blizzard - WoW *Cough*

It still isn't that bad really, we still have darkfall to talk about dailey till it dies.
Like I said, winning isn't really important.
I already own a G11 keyboard, since one poster said that was what I was QQing about.
It isn't the prize it is the manner of the contest.
People here just can not think outside of a very tiny box.
I stated a post count maybe and a minimum account active restriction and they all flip out. When everyone of them almost either have 1 or the other.
For those brand new, well if you stick around for 90 days, then sure you should be allowed to enter. We stuck around 5 years, you can do it for 90 days.
For those who never post that would solve that issue.
For those who do post but only have 60 post, just get involved more, spend more time voicing your opinions to others and discussing what we are supposed to all be here for which is games.
They accuse me of the QQ, but all I am seeing is excuses of why they should get a prize for sitting in a corner never talking or making an account yesterday.
As the admin says, it is what it is. Just doesn't make it right, You all have an opinion just like I do.

Sorry to call you out, SDR, but this post just looks like an attempt to increase your chances of winning another contest by upping your post count. It makes zero sense, and utterly fails to recognize the valid points already made by quite a few posters, including an admin from MMORPG.
If you post in here a few more times, maybe you'll win the next contest. Keep trying!

Not all of us wish to enforce our opinions on others. However I blame noone for doing so. But being put on a disadvantage for not feeling the need to whine about DF, without ever even having played it just seems out of place to me.
Well I have a premium membership at a similar site and I have won a lot of contest. Nothing beyond beta accounts or what would amount to "enhanced trial" accounts.
I've gotten one beta key here...
I have never won any hardware (you know good contest) on any site. Heck in lotro beta they were giving away hardware every week and since I work at home I was logging so many hours in beta it was like a "job". Still never won...
In fact the only way I would ever win anything "cool" is if I was the only one to enter the contest... so I don't really agree with any restrictions (for me it wouldn't help me win).
Most of the contest here supposedly give you a better chance to win if you are logged onto the forums... each day the contest runs. There really shouldn't be a "post" requirement... but if someone isn't even logging in and accessing this site on a regular bases (other than to be a contest bot account... aka someone padding their chances.. ) those accounts shouldn't be allowed to enter. This would at least make the people padding their contest chances.. have to log all their bots in on a regular basis...
In other words its not going to fix anything.. *.*.
