Spadez88Spadez88 Member Posts: 88

Heres something that i think might start some intresting responces. my buddey the other day looked me in the eye and said "runescape is the best game ever, its got every thing that any mmo player could ever want." i looked at him with huge eyes and just stared at him for a few secs with no responce. soooo what do you all think of runescape?

Please dont be gentel on this game.  I wanna hear every thing from its awsome to the most mean thing you could possably say about it.  hell if you want you can make a speech on how much you hate the game. Lets go from beating on wow to beating on runescape. I know its a dead horse but it just seems like this would be intresting to read.

Runescape? Used to be a good game. Used to be fun. But with the trade limit, why even play it? Summary, it's not worth playing. I know that because I have compared old school and new school, played both sides.

    Read this "Guide" from Rstruth.wordpress.com

Runescape, Bh trade and why it sucks!

This guide will be short but simple. To begin with, because Jagex loves to control Runescape with an “iron fist”, they set a limit to the trading. Also, you can’t drop trade and staking in duel arena is impossible. yes, I know Jagex put the limit trade to ease the macro’s. But, in reality it was to control the fucking economy like a dictator. Because of these updates, players have no choice but to transfer their items through an “unsafe” bounty hunter trade.

    1) Some items in Bounty Hunter does not appear when you die! AWW FUCK! I tried to trade my wizard (g) set to my main, but when my friend killed him, the fucking items did not appear. This was my best friend in real life, so I know he didn’t purposely not pick it up. Because of this, I lost 900k (1mili pratically). So, players!!!!!! Do not try to bh wizard (g) set

    2) After that incident, I went berserk… so I tired wizard (t) set… This worked. The problem was that, when I killed my friend, I was penned. I quickly picked up the items and next thing I knew…someone tped right next to me. He saw my dang skull, and he didn’t attack me right away. I tried to run, and he jut followed. Untill, he saw someone and then started screaming, “I’m penned”. The random guy quickly attacked me, and I thought, “AHHH FUCK!!! 2v1″… And, what do you know…I was right. My target attacked me also, and I was basically getting 2v1 while trying to live. Why the fuck did he have to tp right when I killed my friend. “lol”. Talk about bad karma… I died and lost another 500k. Wow… Did this twice and both time I died. So, all in all…perhaps I lost 1.7mili?

    3) Jagex will not stop the bh trade. But, they might place requirements on what you can bring. I am certain there going to. Sooner or later, Jagex will not allow you to bring any God armour in f2p or anything over 200k. After this, you will never be allowed to trade among your friends for free… How do I know this? Well, you can’t bring wizard (t)(g) skirt. Anything that’s not battle related. They are closing the gaps. Already, they took out the “german” bh server.

    4) Without, the “god armour” trade, Bh trading will be fucking useless. (unless, you just want to do a small trade), but for the higher levels, that fucking sucks. The reason why high/and low levels does Bh trade in f2p is because, you can’t get koed usually. If you’re lvl 99 in medium crater or 110+ in high crater and you’re wearing full rune, the odds of getting killed with full inventory of food in highley unlikely. You can outlive your “penned” time… Now, if Jagex does what I said they might do in number 3, the only option is to do it in p2p. Now thats fucking hard. You can almost never outlive your penned time… It’s like, fighting till death! PLayers can ko you in 10 seconds if they’re lucky. dds/range/pure/pots/prayer…holy chet (start praying to GOD) (not Runescape god)

Conclusion: Low crater bh trade should be never done! I lost 1.7 mili because of low level trade, and that was stupid. (that’s why I’m not angry lol) Also, when Jagex finally controls what you can wear and bring in bh, then that’s when Runescape offically SUCKS!

Jagex is too fucking stupid to understand that there are no fucking macros and if the set requirement in bh, then they are so fucking stupid! Macroes are lvl 3 or 4 and usually were from people from China. How the fuck do you think a lvl 3 can bh trade in low crater? LOL??? Exactly, common sense. There are about .00000001% high level macroers since they’re not stupid. DUH! So, why stop bh trade?

The company Jagex is an ************. They need to ease on Runescape and train the employee’s properly. Throughout history, when the government tries to tighten the peoples right and lives, the citizens rebel… I hope Jagex understand what I just said… but, I still love Runescape and probably will never stop.

    The Rigged Grand Exchange

    August 2, 2008

Welcome my few and dedicated readers. Today, I am going to talk about how fucking rigged the grand exhcange really is. To start off, I will not place any pictures up today since, there’s no need. (srry, this isn’t eh firecape guide)

The grand exchange was invented to stop mass amount of trading going on in Runescape. With the trading gone, many players and macro’s wasn’t able to trade money or items to different accounts. Which is why they took out wildy.

The real reason: In reality, the real reason was because Jagex couldn’t fucking control the economy and needed a way to stop it. I guarntee you, I am right. Jagex like I said, loves to control Runescape with an Iron fist. The Grand Exchange is just a another step to control this shit. You may be asking yourself, “This guy can’t possibily be serious…?” or “No way…”. But let me tell you something, you may have been playing runescape for maybe 2 years or more. I have been playing ever since classic started. I seen all the riots, and glitches that happened. I experienced history developing. I know what the FUCK I’m talking about.

    Proof/Evidence: Fucking control Freak!

The evidence, I am going to talk about to prove my theory… Or in reality, the facts.

    1) The grand exchange, I pressume everyone knows what I am talking about… If not, then you’re a moron. Anyways, the grand exchange is about trading items whithout yelling and the usal bickering bewtween players. It is a way to make money while you sleep and childrens version of stocks.

Grand Exchange is supposibily controlled by the people! LET ME JUST SAY, “ WHAT A FUCKING BULLSHIT LIE” THIS IS PERHAPS THE MOST STUPIDEST THING I EVER HEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOSH, HOW FUCKING STUPID DO YOU THINK THE PLAYERS ARE? But, majority of the players in Runescape are stupid and act like children since they are. Even the teens from age 12-16 are fucking morons. They can’t even comprehend what a fucking scam is!

    2) Runescape is suppose to be controlled by the players. That is what they want us to believe… And sadly, that is what the majority of the players actually believe. The kids and teens are like robots. They believe everything the media tells them. For fuck sake, I once told 8th graders in Middle school, that the south won the Civil War. To my surprise, the kids fucking believed it. I was literally swearing so much saying how stupid Americans are. They don’t know their history. They already learned about the civil war almost every year in elementary, and yet no one tried to correct me, except for one little girl…Thank Gosh! This shows, that those kids are either stupid or never listened to their history teacher. I hope it’s option B.

    3) AS you know, the Runescape Grand Exchange is contrlled by Jagex. The truth is, it’s really controlled by the payers and Jagex is more of a “policeman”… They hold the real power! We can’t do shit. There’s no legal government that the players can talk to or even a Supreme Court. Jagex is pratically a Monarch! Which is why it fucking make sense. Runescape is medival, so what the hell…Let’s control Runescape as monarch government. Who needs reprensentives or check in balances! We can’t do shit!

Do you understand? Do you understand what my message is about?

For those of you who can not comrehend what I just said…examples should work!

For Examples, pretend Santa hat cost 15 mili. The next day it rises to 15.5mili. When this happens, players who are high level scramble to buy Santa hat’s. They pay the max price… The next day, the prices soars. It becomes 16.8mili. Holy fuck? The price for santa is rising rapidily. High level are now going crazy trying to buy santa’s… They are willing to pay the highest price. But, the players who have already have them stop selling them, and wait. They want to wait while the price rises. So in the end, when everything slows down, they’ll sell them. Pretty reasonable? The other half who don’t know the price of santa hat will still sell them, so it continues to rise.

In one week, the price for Santa sky rockets. It is now 20 mili. It went from 15mili to 20 mili in just one week… The price is not about to drop anytime soon. Santa is rising so fast, players can no longer afford them. This is when Jagex steps in and destry’s the economy. they see this… I promise you, they see the price for Santa rising so fast. Which is why they take charge and stop the rise of Santa hat. In one day, the price for santa starts to decrease. This is when players are like, “ahh Fuck”. A mass scramble to sell their santa hat happens. Price starts to decrease and bang…its’s back to normal.

You might ask me, “How do you know for certain it’s Jagex?” Well, for one thing, Prices do not drop when it rises fucking quickly. Especially holiday items. I promise you Jagex affects the holiday item trade. When it rises so high, they stop it so players can afford one. ” I can’t believe you!!! Jagex does not control the market! We do!!!!!” You better fucking open you’re eye’s since they’re not about to stop. The rapid drop proves it…

Back then, this wasn’t a problem back then since everyone knew the price of Santa. You couldn’t say, “selling santa hat-21mili” when players knew it was really 19 mili. There was a check and balance. People knew the price and so when players try to raise it in huge amount, players will spam so fast. and call them, “price manupiulating”… It gradually raised and sometimes fell a little bit. But, it never dropped rapidly.

Conclusion: It’s simple. Jagex is a fucking jackass when it comes to the Grand Exchange. (NEXT GUIDE, THE BH TRADE AND WHY IT’S A FUCKING BITCH)

Best game ever?  Hardly.  It's the worst commercial game that I've played in a long, long time.  There's grinding for levels in one thing, and grinding for levels in another thing, and grinding for levels in yet another thing.  But the real problem is that there isn't anything else in the game.  It's certainly the worst online game I've ever played.   It's probably not as bad as some EA sports games, and certainly not as bad as some of the early Atari games that didn't seem to have a point.  But when you have to go back 15 years merely to find competition for awfulness, you've got a problem.

Well, to be nicer, Runescape is probably a better game than some item mall grinders.  But I'm sharp enough to catch that and not waste time on the item mall grinders.  I'd be sharp enough to not pick up Runescape or a comparable game today, but was fairly new to online gaming when I tried the game.

Runescape was good, for what it could deliver (Java isn't the only limitation). Jagex has made some steps in the wrong direction as of late, unfortunately. The best thing it has going for it is variety, even if there is alot of grind. Also, quests are varied and some are pretty damn hard (I remember the Underground Pass chain was particularly difficult, but rewarding). You had to prepare for them like raids almost, and I liked that. Even with walkthroughs!

Portability is something that RUNESCAPE will always have. That cannot be contradicted by me or anyone else. Technically speaking, if Runescape has one combo advantage, it would be it's compatibility+portability+f2p. Other than that, it's a load of bunk. This is "technically speaking"

Isn't mahjong even more portable yet takes more thought to play than this? LOL

I used to enjoy it before all that 3d and stuff, but ye i was much younger.

Its no suprise so many people still like this and its still "the first mmo" for alot of younger folks.

And usually the first mmo u play is also the 1 u play the longest.

Ok, back to topic! In my opinion, it was Runescape CLASSIC that was the "best game ever" lol.

     Here's why:

    runescapetruth.wordpress.com

    August 27, 2008

Holy shit… In my opinon, Runescape Classic is wwwwaaaay better then Runescape 2. This was the time when graphics sucked and people moved with major pix removed. It was like seeing a robot walk. I still remeber Classic back then…It’s slowly disappearing from my memory sadly…

This article is made to tell you what Runescape Classic was like. This is why many of the older rs members/ congregations prefer Runescape without so many updates. I personally hate the new updates. I hate it so much I want to scream everytime I read there’s a new update. When runescape became “2″. My computer would have took 5 minutes to load. WTF… I quit Rs after that for about 1 year. Then I started again. The new graphics make me want to rip my hair off.

Anyways, Rsc was a game that you could simply have fun. This game was fucking addicting. Addicting as in “I can’t sleep, I must play rs or I’ll die”…

Why am I talking about Runescape Classic?

Many of you readers probably never played Runescape Classic. You were either too young or never heard of Runescape back then. I was 11 at that time… So my memories of that game are fading. Anyways, I’m just curious on how many people who read my article played Runescape Classic? (BE HONOST) I love Runes classic but there was way to much marcoing back then. If you played RSC and still play RUNESCAPE, please leave a comment… (everyone can still leave a comment of course) :[)

    What Runescape Classic really was:

This game was played by only 14 yrs old and older. Today, Runescape is played by all ages...from 8-50 years old. This was a game that the graphics was simple, easy, clean, and enjoyable. Now, rs2 fucked it up. Way too much update and it's killing my computer...(I need to buy a new one)

My Runescape Classic Name: FriedJackass (Iunno what happened to him)/ Bloodeye (Iunno what happened to him)/ pk leaders (I can still use, but he's permanetly muted)/ "last one=private" (I still use)

(I know the name is offensive, but back then Jagex didn't care...)

Pictures of the game I stole. These pictures have meaning to them since they remind me of the game so much. This is what it felt like playing Runescape Classic. For those of you who never played rsc. These are what you would experience. Words cannot describe what it felt like playing this game.

Hmm, I kinda like runescape to be honest. It annoys me when people say runescape is aload of rubbish just because they don't like it. They have to admit it's a fairly decent game to play, the quests are alright and all the storylines are pretty well thought out. I know people used to hate it because of the bad graphics, but I kinda liked the old runescape, not as interested in it anymore, new updates aren't too good.

The game has a great concept, has a lot of potential under the right managemant.. yea the management was the kiss of death for the game. It could be great, it could really skyrocket in memberships .. if it was run properly.  I agree The old runescape had a lot of potential, I hope one day they figure that out and correct the problems.

I used to feel so butt hurt whenever a WoW fan would insult me for playing runescape back in 06, but now whenever I see a rs vs WoW(or any other MMORPG) discussion I tend to take the opposite. Yeah it used to be good, but Jagex just don't get it do they? Graphics..who cares about graphics. Graphics come and go, it's real game play that matters.

I never understodd the love affair with Runescape eitehr...To me it was the worst game I had ever played also......And even worse than the game was the foul mouthed 10 year olds that were so abundant in the community......RS was the only game where I have ever shut off all chat channels because the language was so bad.

runescape was good, but what broke the black eye peas up, what broke the beatles, micheal jackson, etc. Greed.

More and more often i realise Jagex doesn't want the ULTIMATE gaming experince attitude. They want the get the cash, play the game, or get the hell out of here. Thats why they broke the 13 year rule. Little kids can ask their parents for money, and jeez alot of kids play rs even before the rule.

I have to disagree with some of the previous posts in this thread. I went on a mission a month ago to find a game better than Runescape. The results, I could not find a game that was in my opinion better than Runescape. There is downsides to RS ,but overall I think it is one of the best MMOs if not the best. The have made huge upgrades to the graphical part of the game*. Many new and fun quest are added all the time. The game is regularly updated with new content. The number one feature however in Runescape, is the amazing community. Out of the 27 games I tried in the past month not one even compared to the community of RS. In Runescape you can start up conversations about virtually anything with anyone. For example we were talking about the NBA playoffs last night while fishing in the fishing guild. It might just be me ,but I cannot stand a game where you do not talk to anyone. I know Jagex has made many updates that people disliked including me at first, but I actually like most of them now. Another great thing about RS though is the very cheap membership fee and the option to play for free. Trust me just give RS a genuine try and most likely you will like it. **

  • in-a-snitin-a-snit Member Posts: 4

I also have to disagree with most here. I am the same as I looked for a new mmo to play for quite awhile. I never really found any like runescape that had any depth to them. Not only in quests, content but the community at large.

People can say its a grindfest..that because you made it that way..no one forces you to work on skills until your sick of them and thats mainly what people do in their quest for some achievement there.  The fun was in the adventure of working on a skill and and getting the most out of it and not just to do it to reach the top level. If that was your reason to get to the top level you missed the whole concept of what runescape is.

I also played in rsc as I started out there. It wasnt the best and I dont agree with whoever says it was. Yes it was the best at the time but everything changes with time also. Had runescape stayed that way no one would play it. It was one of the reasons they moved to rs2 so they could do upgrades and add more content. People were also leaving the classic and looking for better games with better graphics. Classic is still available to those that are still members of it but no on can join now as such. They do nothing with it as it is buggy and glitched, full of bots and was a scamfest for most. Due to not being able to join now it probably has changed since.

And to those who think runescape classic was and is the best ever ...are you still a member of it?  If your not then I would suggest shutting your mouth so you dont have to keep inserting your foot!

I'm not here to defend jagex as they can well do that themselves if need be. I am here in defence of people who do like the game for what it is and the many hours of entertainment it gives.

Are we upset at the changes jagex has made in the past and present? Damn straight we are,its why we complain in the forums for something better and keep at them. Believe it or not they do listen and do respond. They respond to people who ask or post things using some common sense.

Do they do what we ask? sometimes yes. In most cases no. But then afterall it is their company to do with as they please.

What have they done recently?  A new quest was released just this week with a new storyline to follow. The rewards werent the greatest but it was an easy quest with low requirements. Soul wars a mini-game was released within the last 3 monthes and is enjoyed by many and yes it does have some problems with it which we hope will be tweaked in the near future. Smaller updates to banking and farming to name a few but there have been quite a few small updates that affect time and gameplay. They have also added free to play in the forums. It was always a place where players could gather to add feedback or suggestions or what have you,and was given to members as a benefit. To be able to post you need 12 million experience so its not just for someone who has created a new account.

Whats in store for the future? Mobilizing armies is due to come out soon and is a tactical warfare based mini-game. It is in the last stages and almost ready to be released. Rumor also has it they are coming out with a new game called mechscape that is sci-fi based and they are targeting it at an older audience. It was supposed to be released by now I believe or by june. It is something they have been working on and have had the game domain rights for some time now.

So in retrospect..they do have some problems that need to be worked on and some are. They have come out with new content and are coming out with more with the inclusion of a whole new game to play. They are in conjunction with fun orb which also has games to play.

so if anyone can point me to a new game that has not only combat related stuff but other things to do as well, with added content weekly-monthly, that has a great and fun community that talks to each other,is free to play at anytime and not just 30 days, that has a forums to discuss game/anything,that has a membership subscription for $6.00 a month, doesnt have to be downloaded on my pc.....let me know ...Id like to give it a try!

My goodness, where have you been during the past 5 years? there are alot of MMORPG alternatives and opportunities aside from that rotting stinkhole that obviously hasn't seen any major improvement ever since. Give Guildwars a try or for the complex MMORPG enthusiast, give Eternal Realms a try. I myself play WoW. It's not that expensive, if you have a job.

  • QuizzicalQuizzical Member LegendaryPosts: 25,353

Grinding for levels in this and that and everything else is not complexity.  It's just grinding for levels.  If you want complexity, try A Tale in the Desert.  You probably won't be able to figure out much without looking up things that other players have already figured out, precisely because it's too complex.

  • Spadez88Spadez88 Member Posts: 88

Hmm iam suprised this fourm is still kickin thats cool becase i decided the othere day to give it a try once more. Yes the game has come a bit hollow with all the skillers and call you a noob if you dont got 99. Hell most of the players have god complexs who think if you dont hit has high as them your a noob and dont deserve to play.  But there is some good in this game still. i been haveing fun with slayers for example and i love crafting. 2 of my best and favriot skills. But in the most part it seems like most players are anti social. honestly the game still has great potential but i still agree with my 1st post. this is not the greatest game ever. If any thing its the greatest game for 5 bucks. Ill play untill my months up but ill be hard pressed to pay another 5 for it. An for those who hate the G.E i kinda like it, makes it easyer to sell stuff. at least i dont have to stand in a bank and spam flashing "selling sharks for x amount".

That's right ,dude, it's all about the skill cape these days.  Gone are the days of pking, merchanting, rogue training, giving. If you have the brains to conceptualize, the only thing actually worth doing is getting 99. Even parents use it as a point when paying for their kids membership. Parental control systems coming up soon, probably. Makes me cringe thinking about it.

To the point, I could get better games for free. Rubies of Eventide for example,Kal Online, or Planeshift. Although I would recommend Eternal Lands because it has a variety of skills set up similarly to Runescape. I play WoW tmyself because I prefer real time travel and because it uses MANA.

Runescape is a good first mmorpg like it was for me. However, once you discover a game that lets you run all the time it starts to lose it's luster.
