WoW customer service vs LOTRO customer service.

I'm leaving WoW due to their outright piss poor customer service. Gotten to the point I can't even stand thinking about WoW due to how bad it is.

Looking for a new MMorpg to play and am considering this one. What's the customer service like here? In game GMs, tech support etc. Is hacked accounts and crap a problem here?

Turbine customer support is brilliant compared to anyone else. However, their GMs are useless when it comes to some bugs in instances - they can't do anything but log the report; same as all other MMOs. I've never heard of someone being hacked in LotRO. The community, I would say, averages about 22 years and older. I hope this helps a bit.

Turbine really shines in this department. I have had to file 2 small bug tickets and was amazed at how quick the response was even during primetime playing hours. The GMs were nice to the point of having a awesome sense of humor and got me all squared away in no time.  The other plus side to it is that you probably aren't going to have to call on them alot as the game really is more bug free than most MMOs that I know of.

I agree with what the others said.

Personally I got help from Turbine in many occasions and response was fast.

In-game from bugs to down-right idiotic questions from my part they always took the time to contact me in game or leave me a response in my ticket if I was offline !

Also I feel much safer with my account playing LOTRO than when I was when I was playing WoW (in which I got hacked and permanently banned with Blizzard not accepting any kind of inquiries regarding the matter or even helping me out. I recall specific times they hanged up on me when I called them...)

In-game support, I hear a lot more good experiences than bad. Out-of-game support, I hear more bad experiences than good. (though getting your account hacked is not a problem in this game... havent heard it happen to anyone yet) The out-of-game complaints are mostly people being unable to re-sub and sometimes un-sub.

Last ticket I opened had a response in 4 minutes, and while the problem wasn't fixed I left the conversation feeling like my opinion and experience mattered to someone.  Hope that helps.

The Turbine out of game support is horrendous. Well, at least it was for me, lol. I couldn't select a billing plan except lifetime  when I wanted to start up again, so contacted them. It basically took almost 3 weeks for them to send me a link to be able to get around their billing problems to subscribe to the game.

By then, I had other things happening. Guess they didn't want my money hehe. Of course right now, I am wondering where that damn link disappeared to, lol.

My horror story aside, I hear they are usually pretty good as others have said, ingame at least, lol.

WoW lost me when they gave me three 3-day suspensions in a one month period due to using Curse Gaming's approved addons. When I asked Blizzard support which addon was the problem they told me using any third party addon was a violation of EULA. I could not determine the specific addon and so I had to stop using all WoW addons, and as we know the game is unplayable with the default UI.

While LOTRO addons are sparce, the built in UI offers every thing needed to enjoy the game well into the level 40's. LOTRO has been nothing but great support and community for me so far.

I had the very same issue when I wanted to resub to Lotro, only found the Lifetime option, but I hand't realised at the time they had changed billing partners and where using the Click & Buy system which was listed on the same page, used that and hey presto got to recurring monthly options. It's an awkward billing system.

I've had reason to use the tech support once and it took sometime for a response but yes I still got the feeling I was a valued customer with Turbine.

In WoW I've had characters restored within a few minutes after a GM has responded to a ticket that has been queued for a few hours, however when my sons account was hacked he was suspended for 3 days while they investigated (did my own investigations aswell and found out a friend he had come over saw his account name and password and used them to access to his account and steal his stuff) they never told me what conclusions they came to only that my son had to keep his details secure in future and any further violations would result in no further actions to restore the account.

Everytime I have dealt with WoW in the past (No longer a WoW player after 2yrs I might add) I have felt as if I didn't matter, got the same cookie cutter responses from GM's when sending any tickets and as I said earlier the only quick actions I've had is in restoring deleted characters, that seemed to be the only area they where good at.

Out of the 2 CS I'd say Turbine has the lead, but they don;t always get it right.

I must agree that when I have submitted a ticket it has been handled very quick and also the account hacking thing seems to not exist as well here.

My favorite part about Turbine as far as customer support goes is that theur maintence days seem to go as planned regularly where even after all this time Blizzard still can seem to do their down time in the time they alloted for themselves. Nothing irritated me more then counting on being able to play by the time they said the servers would be up and not only are they late but sometimes they would be like 4-5 hours late on just a routine maintence day ( and forget patch days). Never had this problem with LOTRO as of yet anyway.

And also like the OP I had my accounts hacked a few times in WOW and its a bad feeling and a feeling I am glad I have never had in LOTRO.
