lol @ 35 people... that's NOTHING ... come on!! You can get more than that in a Counter-Strike server, BF2 server, etc and hmm no lag. Oh and there's planes, tanks, exposions, etc.... Needs something more impressive, like, I dunno... 100 people?
we just havent gotten that many together yet
he was just saying it was nice to actully have people to play with
But wait... according to one of your earlier claim there were 7000 people in the beta are you saying that all what you have been saying is pure speculation with no basis whatsoever, or that they didnt have the competence to test more than 35 people in one place with 7000 people in this suposed beta and the paid beta testers?
i never said anything over 2k but it never reach much above 1k because plans changed with the release
So what started as people praising and bashing the article turned into people bashing one another because of battle tactics? And yeah, I agree with atziluth, this is some PR move that stinks of naivety.
Unfortunately this has become the modus operandi for both Aventurine and the fanatical community.
I want this game to be everything they say it is... I want to finally have a decent game to play. This PR BS and devolution into personal attacks is so frustrating. Either they debate the game on its merits or they need to concede. I place this completely on Aventurine and how they handle their community. There are several other games out there that have similar features yet their communities are infinitely better.
Nothing will change until the game is released and it has to stand up to the scrutiny. Even then I doubt the caustic nature of the community will change significantly. That is extremely unfortunate.

Instresting read... Does this make me hopeful, for the game? I suppose at this point I can stick my head in the ground like an ostridge, feigning ignorance to the obvious attempt at a marketting ploy, and say "Oh please my God Tasos, make my pvp dreams come true!"... However, I digress, and will wait for the actual game to judge it on its merrits and/or dectractors, but only after I have played it.
To say that this game will fail, or succeed at this point is anyone's guess (or if indeed it ever see's the light of day). The only reason I am hopeful is not because of Tasos' or Aventurine's claims, but sadly because of the lack of mmo's out there that interest me anymore. Even with that said, I am skeptical enough to wait for the "proof is in the puddin." (please forgive the obvious cliche ). However the more I wait for Darkfall and the more it's delayed, the more I slowly watch my perception of this title fall from the fence-sitting skeptic, falling on the side of cynic, with heavy doubts about the invevitable release of this title to mass market (both EU and NA). And, when I mean "mass market," I mean to exclude the beta testeres who are obviously subjectively influenced either subconsciously or in most cases as to the link, conciously influenced in favor of Darkfall.
In the end, the objectivity upon analysis of the this title wether it is good or not can only be judged by the mass market(s), and not a "select few" beta testers.

Because Lord knows that it takes you ~2-4 hours to cross the BF2 map or the CS map. And then with those 2000+ people all playing at the same time in that huge seemless world . . . not to mention all the NPCs in alot of areas of the maps. Magic effects for all those people? Who needs that when we have some explosions every once in awhile.
Don't go there.
WWIIoL - Engine written in 1999.
Time to cross playable area of map: 22hours east-west & 12 hours north-south
One world for everyone.
Hundreds (Thousands) on line at a time.
Planes, AFVs, Infantry, ships...
And lots of explosions.
1.) WW2OL was not mentioned the first post I quoted.
2.) WW2OL graphics look like crap compared to . . . well anything. The graphics even look like crap for 1999 standards.
How about Plantside then with 150 players per side at one base. (there are 3 sides).
I've participated in a 4 gal, 20 tank, 5 ams and 20 skeeter base takedown, with a flight of 6 libs softening up the target area for 5 mins prior.
Was the most amazing fun I've had in a computer game playing with others, ever.

"Hello person posting on a site specifically for MMO's in a thread on a sub forum specifically for a particular game talking about meta features and making comparisons to other titles in the genre, and their meta features.
To date the worst report from that site. This is nothing but a puffed up PR piece trying to be disguised as a "beta report". The pre-order poll was a nice touch. I mean if testers so overwhelmingly want to pre-order then everyone else should be queueing up right?
It's like the Dev's are in panic mode and are starting to resort to giving "pep talks" in order to keep whatever fanbase they have remaining hyped up after more leaks start getting out.
It's quite effective I might add. Many of the "DF supporters" in the first thread that this was posted in were hailing the official forums pre-order poll as something akin to a death blow to all the "trolls".
To quote one of them: "You can't argue with 90% approval rate". I still weep to this day for that certain individual's lack of logic and common sense.

So I am guessing you are one to believe the screenshot was fabricated and it's all just part of a huge conspiracy?
Fact is (if you know beta players personally or read the feedback in betaleak sites) most of the beta testers enjoy the game. Perhaps most of the beta testers are players from UO, AC DT and Shadowbane, pehaps SWG or DAoC, and not from the new age WOW or War players. If it was the latter perhaps they would not enjoy it as much because they were brough up on different types of gameplay, who knows.
We will see once the NDA comes up and the game goes live...that does not mean during this time you should come and state "this is just Tasos's Propaganda, there is no game etc" that just shows ignorance

Here again you take a reasonable critique and distort it. Where in his post did he say it was a conspiracy?

Many have both positive and negative points. There are some real concerns out there right now and to ignore them is foolish. I have actually played all the games mentioned. I preferred AC:DT and shadowbane (sans the bugs). I know the issues that plagued both those games and I see trends in DF that echo them. Again to ignore this is foolish. You have no way of knowing anything about the beta testers so again you are eluding to something eronious in order to substantiate a point. This is complete intelectual dishonesty and only works on idiots.
We will see once the NDA comes up and the game goes live...that does not mean during this time you should come and state "this is just Tasos's Propaganda, there is no game etc" that just shows ignorance
Again where in his post did he say there is no game? You seem quick to defend Aventurine from people making false statements yet in this one thread make two of your own. Hypocrisy is best avoided to retain any credibility.

Err . . . not so much.
The only ones who are throwing tantrums on the DFO forums are 09ers who "have been following the game since 2002"
mostly everyone else is ready to hump in. They do not need a pep talk at all.
And the poll was at the very least a death knell. When a tester leaks that he likes the game . . . it is obviously propaganda. He must be a fanboi. But when a negative is leaked . . . it must be the god honest truth, right guys?
The poll shows what the fans knew all along. Tons more people like the game than do not like it. This coincide with the tons of good leaks vs the two or three bad ones.

Interesting quote, "You can't argue with 90% arppoval rate." There was a time when most of humanity beleived the world was flat, and that the universe revolved around the Earth. Did that make them right?

There are some hiccups, but almost every piece of evidence shows that DFO will be a solid game, yet the trolls need to find something to latch onto.

I agree with you thinktank. In this case it would appear that xxpigxx needs to do some more research before posting. There were some negative reviews on this. His statements reflect the lack of research on his part, as this seems to be the case on the surface, or... and this being my cynical view, he could just be baiting us to flame him. In which case I will resist the latter desire to do so. One wonders if in xxpigxx's case if he was indeed sincere with his posts at all.

So there was no other decent features to review in the meantime? Come on !
Oh and half the review is made up other other peoples quotes. Way to go for the effort there ! Sorry this smells suspicous, like that going to be the excuse clause when this game is reveale to be a POS.
Once again I salute aventurine communication and marketing for making me want to buy this game on pre order... um ... NOT !

I would imagine if this were the case your time would be spent elsewhere. Unless you do this for fun during work (completely understandable as I do the same). If that is the case however then I would expect you to be on a different more private set of forums giving feedback.

So what you're saying is that these concerns arent valid because they 'can' or they 'will' be fixed? As of now, they aren't, and it'll stay that way until they are indeed changed.
All the leaks, screenshots and videos point to a game with potential, of course, and theres no denying it, but extremly unpolished and certainly not ready for launch in a month, not even 2.
The rules of Debate are really simple; once you have to stoop to insults instead of facts, logic, or reason to try and win your argument, you've lost.

Its amazing how many people know so much about programming, and updating MMORPG's. I can't wait till yours comes out since you know what can and can't be done in a month time frame.
I find it hilarious that she used a poll taken from one of the most rabid fan websites to date to bolster her argument. If you did a poll like that across the whole of the MMO community I would imagine ~40% of people would have voted "What is Darkfall?" had the option been there.
actually its from the beta forums. if anyone has the right to vote in such a poll surely its the people who have actually played the game?
also this noob preview is funn because 90% of what was said is exactly what was being "previewed" on leak sites before it. we already got told about the poll and the incredible 35 man fight (LOL).

Actually it is called an educated guess based from historical precedence.
Can a small indy company release a fully functioning MMO in less then 30 days after just starting a beta? Possibly, but history has already shown the odds are unlikely to put it mildly.

UO: 2 years
DAoC: 1 year
WoW: 3+ years
Not everyone's first MMO was WoW. I'm dying for Darkfall to come out.

A death knell? You are taking "delusional" to a whole new level.
It's like proclaiming victory for McCain when a poll taken at a Republican convention shows 90% approval rate.
Give me a f'n break.

Interesting quote, "You can't argue with 90% arppoval rate." There was a time when most of humanity beleived the world was flat, and that the universe revolved around the Earth. Did that make them right?
If you can't read the noob review and not believe something is weird, then god help your soul. Most of the decent review all say the same thing:
- Animations are not good
- Combat is not polished
- Skill leveling is grindy
- UI and interfaces seem unprofessional
- The environment is very good and immersive
Most of the testers ( even the negatives ones ) said they enjoy the game, but also state that it is no where near ready for release.

It is like watching The last Eagles/Cowboys game, and for every Philly score, you keep saying that the Eagles suck balls, and the Cowboys are going to win.
There are some hiccups, but almost every piece of evidence shows that DFO will be a solid game, yet the trolls need to find something to latch onto.

Animations can be upgraded. Combat has some bugs. What game is not grindy? UI was recently upgraded and has received better reviews.

"The reason why I didn't post updates earlier is that I wanted to do it once 1500+ people had been added to the beta server and the game had shown its full potential,"
The noob : Review 8
So there was no other decent features to review in the meantime? Come on !
Oh and half the review is made up other other peoples quotes. Way to go for the effort there ! Sorry this smells suspicous, like that going to be the excuse clause when this game is reveale to be a POS.
Once again I salute aventurine communication and marketing for making me want to buy this game on pre order... um ... NOT !

More like I am the only one stupid enough to take on a gang of internet thugs
By the way . . . I have been warned about saying that I am in something that I am not supposed to talk about. So I think I would know just a bit better tha a couple of trolls . . . eh?

And so we are called thugs for pointing out various other reported reviews about that game. Here I thought we were being helpful in enlightenting you with further information.
So "trolls" and "internet thugs" = corrective persistence?

I would imagine if this were the case your time would be spent elsewhere. Unless you do this for fun during work (completely understandable as I do the same). If that is the case however then I would expect you to be on a different more private set of forums giving feedback.
Good times.

CHEERS!! I'll be waiting.
actually its from the beta forums. if anyone has the right to vote in such a poll surely its the people who have actually played the game?
also this noob preview is funn because 90% of what was said is exactly what was being "previewed" on leak sites before it. we already got told about the poll and the incredible 35 man fight (LOL).
My blog:
Actually it is called an educated guess based from historical precedence.
Can a small indy company release a fully functioning MMO in less then 30 days after just starting a beta? Possibly, but history has already shown the odds are unlikely to put it mildly.
