I see you are running Vista. What is your Windows Experience Index?

Mine are 5.9s across the board and I can run the game on max settings.

Looking at your specs, I'd think you would be able to do so as well.

I have almost the same exact system specs minus your vidoe card, mine is a 9800GT SC, but everything else is similar. I think you'll be fine.

does LOTR support multi-cores? thinking about try the again?

    AMD X2 5000

    ATI 2900 Pro 512

    2gigs DDR2800

    should this suffice?

    AMD Athlon64 4000+ (single core)

    2GB DDR2 Ram (800mhz)

    Asus ATI HD 4830 512mb

    Windows XP 32bit

I run the game at 1360x768 on my 21" LCD TV and I'm at ultra high / 8x antialiasing / everything maxed in ATI control panel...

And it runs just fine even in fellowship + lots of action around...

I had problems with Vista tho, constant HDD access, maybe 2gb more RAM would help

Otherwise my XP runs it great (considering my CPU aint that great either)

With that set up, it TOTALLY depends upon your resolution. If you are running under 1680, sure, over 1680, not likely, 1920 upwards, no.

I don't think he can run max settings.

It takes an 8800gt/3870(or 4830) equivalent to go max settings.

The 9500gt is slightly better than an 8600gt, which is 1/2 as powerful as an 8800gt.

The OP should easily run the game with max graphic settings without any problems.  I'm running the game on a Core 2 E6420, 2gigs RAM, ATI HD 3850 AGP with WinXP SP3 and have my graphic settings on max with an average FPS of 45.
