If one player kills another is the dead person's corpse locked to the killer or can anyone run up and loot it?

Think of it as vultures on a corpse its a free for all atleast if its like UO its a free for all

It's free for all, but if you loot a corpse that's the same race you will take a faction hit I believe.

One of the things I think people miss is that if you die, you won't automatically lose everything. If you're with friends and you die, but they kill the people that killed you, then your stuff should still be there.

That's if you have good friends and they don't steal the stuff and say one guy 'got away'.

Full loot means when you die, you keep your full loot.  Even I knew that one

    ^^^LOL^^^

I think my strategy for full loot would be run around nekkid.

  • Full loot basically means when you die everything you had in your possession remains on your corpse for anyone to take. The only exception in Darkfall will be 3 starter weapons, you can't drop.

Contrary to what people hope that they will be stalkers killing and looting you will find yourself restricted with inventory capacity

So even though you c an kill there might be cap on your inventory restricting you enjoy full pvp loot

Well, then whoever killed you would just destroy the worst object and totally strip you of anything anyway. Not that hard to figure out.

This "full loot" thing is a very strange game mechanic. Not realistic at all.

Not trying to be annoying here, as I'm indifferent to Darkfall, but I saw this and thought 'huh?'

    1. MMOs aren't meant to be realistic, as i thought everyone knew..

    2. In real life if someone killed you, then you would be able to be 'fully looted'

so I don't get what you mean by it's not very realistic?

please expand on this, I'm slightly confused.

yes but your spending time (standing still) deciding what is the most worthless item while the owner is no doubt on is way back and you are left exposed wile you ponder.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

In real life you would be crouched over a body, searching pockets etc for loot,

it's a balance between staying alive and recieving loot,

the same balance would need to be considered in real life as well as in this system.

They say "keep your best items in the bank"

I say "what good are they to me in the bank"

Don't get attached to your gear, don't spend a lot of money on gear, don't waste time doing crafting on your gear.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

    1. Thats true, but if Darkfall didnt have full loot you would claim it to be unrealistic.

    2. In real life those who loots hundreds or thousands of corpses after killing them would be despised by society.

Full loot would be great imo if it had consequenses. If its a battlefield and you loot corpses then thats just normal soldier behaviour. If you kill someone 1vs1 and with the intent to loot them then you are a robber.

In what shape will the looted objects be? An armor with holes in it? Shoes that dont fit you?

Trying to build a funtional world for economy and politics will not work if there are no consequenses imo :)

Reminds me of the time when I was messing around in UO with a newbie sword coated with deadly poison and a death robe.

Well of course it's realistic.  Real life is vaporware, too.  :D

That's actually a really good point and one I share myself. A video game trying to imitate a real world will never be able to do it right unless it applies the same consequences to the player's actions as the real world does.

For example, everyone the real world is open PvP with free loot. However, most people do not PK and loot others because that's a really quick way to spend the next "25 to life" in prison. In an open PvP video game, and this one in particular, PKing someone has very light consequences and that makes it unrealistic.

I'm not saying that open PvP is bad, I'm just saying that it's unrealistic.
