5 Points off For What?

Another example of why MMORPG.com moderation of 'ranks' is rubbish.  Some of you may remember my usual avatar is a statement about the absurdity of the 'rank' below our names.

This crap doesn't mean anything - but it's very annoying to see the idiotic 'fluctuations.'  It's like this thing you're forced to wear wherever you go, assigned to you while you're 'in town'.

Yesterday I was at 100.  Today I'm at 95 apparently.  I laughed, as MMORPG.com proved again why I have such disdain for the retarded rating crap that goes along with membership.  I generally ignore it, but I was just wondering if anyone else notices the idiocy behind the ranking system.

Feel free to look at my post history between today and yesterday and let me know if you think I did something where I should lose 5 points.  Please, justify this 'system' if you can, anyone, including mods.  Because as it is, it's just plain stupid.

IF you must have a form of 'ranks', then let it be driven by the members who actually discuss things with each other.  Allow members to 'vote' a person UP or DOWN based on their posts - NOT due to disagreement but because of the quality of their posts.  If I were insulting people left and right, posting porn links or something and my 'member rank' was driven into the ground perhaps causing a temp ban, that's understandable.

If I am a constructive member of the community and people appreciate that, choosing to show it by 'bumping' my rank, than that makes sense.

As it is, the MMORPG.com ranking system is just useless, pointless rubbish.  Personally I'd just do away with it completely.

So to conclude, it's not the fact that I somehow lost 5 of my 'cool points' or whatever, but the fact that there is no sensible reason for the change at all.

    They need to implement a ranking system tied to post count.  Similar to VN Boards has.

    LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

    Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

    You tell me. This has been an ongoing problem for me for months. I would say that so far, I have lost 50-70 points for absolutely no reason whatsoever. About 15 or 20 in a week where I didn't even post, only visited. Decrease in points during weeks I posted really mild things, etc. Its almost as if it is entirely random.

    Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who's noticed the random bs of these 'ratings'  I doubt anything will change with it... but it doesn't mean it doesn't need change [or outright obliteration].

    yeah they should have a stablished counting and ranking system here, for easy identification of the top rankers in this forum.

    btw even you lost some rank points im still your fan .

    Wow talk about reviving a thread from the beyond hehe.  Thanks mate - but truthfully my rank can go down into the negatives for all I care - I don't really visit here all too often anymore and the absurdity of the current ranking system is nothing more than comedy.

    well btw DEACONX your a nice person and i believe you deserved to be on the top rank.

    however we need to inform the management to have a stable ranking system.

    so the addict and very furious arcken will not be sitting in the -42 slot lol joke arcken!

    I couldn't disagree more.    People would be posting simply to get thier rank up.   The last thing this site needs is more vacuous posts.
