I agree with the poster -- I tried the game for 11 days -- what little player base it has, 30-50 -- it's vets praying on new players -- not very friendly community either.

Isn't this just Space Cowboy, but renamed? Anyway, I thought the game was mediocre. Didn't stick around very long.

Vendetta Online features non-consensual PvP which means there is no place which is absolutely safe. But capital systems, where new players start, are comparatively very safe with the level of danger increasing the further away from the capital systems one ventures. Most new players who get killed by another player early on in their career are the ones who have ventured into Grey Space prematurely and become the victim of pirates. Griefing, on the other hand, is strictly frowned upon wherever it occurs with the griefer being hunted by all as a universal menace.

I have a completely different experience. I found the community very welcoming and wasn't ganked once (not even when I went through pirate infested territory to observe the nation war).

Besides, veterans keep warning in the main chat channel that some areas are dangerous areas for new players. Within an hour I knew where to go or not to go.

This has been one of the most welcoming, group oriented communities I've ever seen. Within hours, I had a few people on my buddy list already with which I group a lot now.

This exactly matches my own new user experiences. All online game contain griefers and idiots, Vendetta is the only place I"ve found were there were more good people than bad. I'm lovin it!

I've been playing VO for a few days now, and everyone has been helpful and very welcoming. Pirates typically give you an option of paying them (many only charge n00bs 1credit the fiorst time), instead of attacking outright, and is usually in good humor. I sure havn't had any problems getting ganked in n00b space anyway...especially since the stations will open fire on anyone who attacks another player within a certain radius of the station, plus there are turret platforms, patrols, and the like in n00b sectors. Overall, I think some EVE players are trolling. VO kicks major ass, and is the only space MMO that I've actually gotten into. I'm glad I decided to give it a try, and I'll be playing for the forseeable future.

may I ask who hit you? most of out pie rats won't go for n00bs.

Neither my son nor I have seen a single case of anyone camping the stations.  Plus you do have the capibility of checking for ships in the sector while inside the stations, which would give you a heads up of what's outside. Plus all the Nation's stations atleast have a no fire zone around them, which makes it difficult (but not impossible) to attack players close to the station.

Even if you are seeing this, how is it differnet from any other game with PvP?

The closest we've come to a situation like this was in a station down on the edge of our nations space.  There was a Neutral nation player outside the station and when we flew in he came over and flew close to us, looped us etc..... but no shooting.  We went into the station and after coming out saw that a enemy (to our nation) had logged on in station.  Well my son and I thought we'd hang outside and attack him when he cleared the NFZ.  The guy would pop out every so often to see if it was safe and duck back in.

After a bit the neutral shot 1 and only 1 missile at me.  Wouldn't kill me, but got my attention and a bit later did the same to my son.  We finally got the idea he either thought we were going to steal his kill, he was the guys escort through pirate territory or we were just screwing up his attack plans since he wasn't going to come out if we were there.  Now he could have sent us a Tell/PM, but the missile worked just as well, so we left.

Here was a chance for a much more experienced player to rack up a couple of kills on 2 NooB's, but he DIDN'T DO IT.  I think that says alot about the game right there.
