Downloading Eve Right now and need advice!

FarScapeFarScape Member UncommonPosts: 185

I tried eve alittle over a year ago before alot of the big changes. I played about a month. but the grasp of WOW had me cletched. Im done with wow and looking for something new. I tried GW and AOC and WAR. all good cept for WAR AND AOC (so so dissappoinced...) so i saw an add for EVE and thought i would give it a try....

So, What can i expect now and what kinda of advice can some vets and new players currently playing give me... oh and im very very interested in joining a good and helpful corp! THX!

    Hmm...

Assault Ships are really good now (particularly the Ishkur and Harpy), it's harder to camp gates, Factional Warfare, the Orca about the big things new in the last year.

Oh, and the new wiki, which has the potential to be really awesome if it ever gets out of beta.

Expect to be lost, confused, killed and thrilled in that order depending how long you are going to play

Do the tutorial, it sucks but it helps you get the base information. then ASK QUESTIONS! Seriously most of us really don't mind being asked stuff if its at least a well thought out question even if its a simple answer.

    tutorial is a big +

also run the basic starter missions for your factions Military, Industrial & Business schools

you'll get several free ships (tech 1 frigates), skillbooks & full set of +1 imps

if they are still going, there was a corp than ran a pvp_101 school (i forget thier name/s but it's been a while since i last played) so if its available still look them up & apply

overall this will give an idea what each basic area of eve gameplay is about, and which appeals to you the most, then you can look for a corp that focus on that area which will increase your funfactor immensely

then once youve decided what your going to be doing in eve, get evemon, it will help you plan your skill training towards that goal

The Tutorial is one of the best i have seen so far, Tis very long but needed.  Quite a good game but i am not much for PvP so i will not last long.

Graphics are amazing, gamplay is smooth.  I would sub in a second but it's pvp and i dislike it to the max.

I wish you all a Happy Holiday.
