I was browsing the subscription charts at mmorpgchat and I was wandering if I could get and answer. I know these charts are probably not 100% accurate but at the same time there all we have.

Anyways what in the world made 250,000 subscriptions drop from the original everquest from mid 2005 until 2006. I mean it  couldnt have all been WoW could it? Since WoW came out in 04. And at about the same EQ2 went from about 330,000 to 200,000.,,,,, Just curious, I dont play either I was just wandering what event, Patch? bomb threat? hehe or whatever happened that people left in droves during that period.

    Gates of Discord

    - would be the worst expansion in mmo history

but....   Trials of Atlantis (DAOC) gets that award

players left EQ in droves in disappointment over GoD

    EDIT:

overlooked your time frame, GoD was early 2004

    as to 2005+, probably WOW

took WOW 3+ years to get to 11 million

WOW only had around 1 million at launch in 2004
