It would probably depend on your play style. Ranged or melee? Group or solo? Raid or casual?
I had a lot of fun playing a Wood Elf Ranger. I forget the name of that asian-themed island that you start on as a wood elf, but it's a really great place. It often goes overlooked by most players because there isn't anything past like level 30.
As a wood elf, it made me feel as though I had visited lands from my own hidden land.
i say go with a wood elf, and they have a net racial ability that turns you into a wolf for 30 or so seconds. It comes in really handy if you get into a bind and have to RUNAWAY! RUNAWAY! from cute little bunny rabbits.
well dark elves can be rangers too soon but i dont like their starting area, i guess you start on the isle.
I would say a dwarf...chick! Just for the hell of it and becuse they are so funny looking.
