I think it's funny that Blizzard was a gamer fanfave until WOW came out and now people love to hate just because it's popular. Some people I think just dont like the popular games no matter what it is just because they dont want to feel like a lemming. It makes them feel special to NOT like it. Like they are above it all and everything and everyone below them is inferior to them and to the games THEY like.
Or maybe it is because Blizzard has dropped the quality of the game. World of Warcraft in my opinion has gotten worse with each Expansion and is no where near as good of a game as Diablo 1 & 2, Warcraft 1-3 and especially isn't even in the same zip code as Starcraft.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too: Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

while you are entitled to your opinion, it looks like most critics do not agree with you and I would judge the quality of a game more by the reviews and success it has than just random opinions.
So from that point of view, sorry to say, WoW is their best game, surpassing even Starcraft.
In addition putting Warcraft 1 and Diablo 1 in that list that were very good games at their time, but nowadays are hopelessy obsolete, just reveal how much of a troll you are.

And honestly if we are going to talk about what company makes the best games critically speaking I think it would be safe to say that Valve is probably rated higher overall then Blizzard.
Also,
I would think Nintendo is probably rated higher overall as well.

wow everyone sure is jumping at a post from a guy that only has 10 posts total... and that has no link to what he is refering to.... not only this there is nothing on the blizzard site or the WoW site or any other gaming site that knows about it...
So whats your point? Noone said that the Blizzard games were the best critical games on the market. I dont think alot of people at Blizzard thinks that. lol
My response was mainly to Volkmar trying to say that World of Warcraft is Blizzard's best game.
It isn't. and that was my point.
Heck Warcraft as a Franchise isn't even the best selling Franchise by box sales. (Which includes Warcraft 1, 2, 3 expansions, and world of Warcraft and expansions) According to the numbers I have seen Lineage is the best selling Franchise MMO.
The Sims are the best selling PC game Franchise.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

We're trying to create a different massively multiplayer experience, and hopefully World of Warcraft will still be going strong when that one is released."
So it won't be WoW. That doesn't mean it won't be WoW-like. That's the problem.
Um, "a different massively multiplayer experience" seems to indicate that it'll be something not like WoW to me. Why would they want to compete with themselves? It'd make much more sense to tap into the part of the market they don't already dominate.
They are making a smart move. WoW is dominating-I agreee, But for how long will it last? blizzard knows no game can last forever. The heat of WoW will burn out eventually, so they need a new weapon.
For me things like Alliance Death Knights and horde Paladins are so stupid. That would be like the Diablo teaming up with your character to fight some other bad guy in a Diablo game. (I mean that level of lore changing) I just can't stand how much Blizzard just changes things just to fit what the whiners want. It seems like nothing is sacred at all.
I agree, and you're right, it is a move away from the very definition of "sacred". In pop culture, Relativism is becoming the rule rather than the quirky philosophy it was some hundreds of years ago. Being a "Light-based" guild, we've had to continually battle it since warlocks, deathknights, and shadowpriests are not permitted. Three years later, everyone has 'stuck to their guns' or left and the rule stands.

In the industry, the rule of thumb is "change or die", evidenced by Everquest. I think Blizzard picked up on their mistakes early on and have gone with the change strategy rather than banging out the expansion-a-month hook or "let's just replace the whole thing" line of thinking. I don't know if their success is endless, but it has worked for more than four years with consistent and positive growth. Waiting for the "death of WoW" is a fruitless endeavour.

Other people might consider that a good thing but for me it is pretty lame.

Diablo is considered the Best Blizzard game critically speaking.
Hell yeah it is. Diablo > WOW. it really is a sin that it took them almost 8-9 years to announce Diablo 3! Anyway, I think if their next-gen mmo isn't based off the Diablo series or Starcraft people will be disappointed.
While I would hope for a Starcraft mmo, I doubt it. And while whatever it is will undoubtedly be on par with WoW, that's why I can't get excited about it. WoW's been done, and unless they plan to go a whole different route, a new one will just be WoW reskinned, and I really have no interest in that.
Wired's chat with Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime has him state, "I can answer that. It's not going to be a World of Warcraft sequel." When pressed he said, "So let's just say it's going to be different and it's not going to be a sequel to World of Warcraft. It will be different. We're not trying to replace World of Warcraft with this new MMO. We're trying to create a different massively multiplayer experience, and hopefully World of Warcraft will still be going strong when that one is released." http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/10/16/blizzards-next-mmo-wont-be-a-world-of-warcraft-sequel/
Forgive me for asking, but I see people saying this announcement will be today. Someone even mentions 'in 3 hours'. Can someone show me a link to where this information comes from please?
Call me a skeptic, but given Blizzard's flare for making huge announcements, I don't think this is true. While I certainly hope to eat my words before the end of the day, I haven't seen/heard anything from any reputable site (and no, MMORPG forums aren't reputable imho).

It would be sooo funny if it was a FFA Loot, PvP, Sandbox game with SWG like elements. Some people would probably go into shock
