A couple friends of mine play on Vista and don't mention any issues with crashing.
I get the occasional crash, but alot fo that is chaulked up to the server I'm on (which has been historically unstable, but still the best server IMO).

Try lowering your video settings. Back when Neriak was released (yes I know this was a while ago), players had problems with crashes around that area because it is more CPU-intensive.
Sometimes computers that run other games fine won't run EQ2 as well because it was built around the processor, and not around the video card like most other games.
Ok, I will try that. I tried lowering the settings and that did not fix it so I uninstalled and now its downloading all over again. Did the game perform worse afther you disabled Multi Core since the game is CPU dependant.
Question.... are you using a geforce 8800? There is a known glitch with that card that will cause the game to crash. Both SOE and Microsoft have tried to find the problem but been unable to. There is a work around. Go look at the EQ2 forums.
I am using an ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB DDR4. I will check the forums later just to see if there are any known issues. I may try a previous driver and see how it does.
I was told that the multicore-support causes more prob... well... doesn´t work as intended in some vista-cases. Though the game seems to require more CPU than GFX-card, I can run it pretty flawlessly on very high settings. Because when the game released, Intel introduced the Pentium 4, I believe.
When the game was released, it was believed that things would just get more powerful, not include multiple cores but remain the same speed, and things like SLI/Crossfire had never been thought of. Its an old game now.
I think most people don't take that fact into account.

Far too many if you ask me Moirae!
I've got a good computer and it runs well enough for me to enjoy the game, I don't need it on 'extremely high graphics' to have fun (when it came out, i ran it on a 1.2ghz AMD/4400 combo <smirk>)
One thing you might try is turning off other background programs. Every time I've had crashing problems with eq2 it has turned out to be caused by xfire. I'm not sure why but one time I had to completely reinstall xfire then the problem went away... Anyway thought I'd toss that out. I run on a quad core with vista 64 and I never crash.

I willl mess around with it some more when I get home from work. I hope I get the game to working because it seems really cool.
most of my issues have revolved around crashing back to character select on zoning, I have few true crashes.

try to turn off the multicore-support in options-menu.
I had many CTDs with my 4core-PC, but after deactivating the support no more crashes here, 2 days ago.

Hmmm... then I'm not sure what it is. I really suggest you try the forums. If its a known issue, it may have already been addressed on there.
Turning off Multi Core support fixed it. I have no idea why I cant play with it enabled but at least I got it working now. Thanks for all the help.
