I've always wanted to be the human resources manager at a Nevada brothel. I can see it all now....

"So, Bambi.... It says here on your application that your specialty is.... No! I don't believe that's anatomically possible. You're gonna have to come in the other room and demonstrat this for me sweety "

Seriously, I'd do that job for minimum wage with no benifits....

... weekends and holidays for free...

BTW, only one of those is a job.

The other one is more of a hobby / mental illness.

I hear the military needs interagators

    An astronaut.

    A super model.

Something in the game industry, maybe a texture artist or a modeller.

I would love to be a self-sufficient farmer, you know... having my own homestead where i grow my own corn, grains and vegetables.  My electricity would be generated by a small commercial windmill and my watersupply would come from a simple watertower.  Throw in a nice wife, a few kids and some dogs and my life would be complete.   Just being free and able to pick the fruits of my own labour is my definition of a good life.   None of this illusionary carreer bullshit for me please.

It's either that, or being the king of my own country... which i would rule with a true healing hand.

My ideal career would be serving the American people, day in and day out.

I have considered the military, many times, but I do not think it is for me for varied reasons.

We will see, however, what the future holds.

My degree is going to be in English with the emphasis in creating writing, so I'll be qualified for it, it's just difficult to land those kinds of jobs

I think Blizzard is hiring for writers right now.  At least they were...

Games designer / programmer / writer.

I love the idea of making virtual worlds (not multiplayer).   I have some programming experience, but making a game beyond a basic platformer requires extraordinary talent or a lot of patience which I don't have.

I don't have knowledge or the patience to learn the languages required for mainstream games, and I'd want to make games that I would like to play, not what other people want to play.

I have great admiration for Tarn Adams, the guy who is writing Dwarf Fortress.   Even though I've never got past my 2nd winter on that game due to getting bored, his concept and his dedication to his project is inspiring.

Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...

    Good luck with that...

Yeah, I want to be a doctor, I'm going to UNT for a BA in Biology right now.. If only my grades could be up to par with the requirements for med school.  If not that I'll probably do something in pharmacuetical research.

I could always just drop that whole dream and attempt at an english degree, but the only thing I could really think of in that field is teaching.  If I had to teach then I would have to be a college professor, screw high school kids; my class caused enough trouble in our four (for some, five) years.

when I took my career placement tests they  told me I would be best suited for a Lawyer or a Military strategist... though of course I chose not do either of those things, but if I could do anything I wanted in the world I would probably own an island resort ....Yup sand in my toes all the time, sippin out of my coconut watching the waves crashing against the shores on my own private beach cabana boys running around in loin cloths ....while I had all the tourists sent to another beach I mean hell if I owned the island I could do that!

    My gosh,

Am I the only one that gets to do what they love for a living?

First of all, I am NOT independently wealthy, by any stretch.

But being self-employed is the perfect job.  I do IT for a few dr. offices and law firms, picking up some elderly customers by word of mouth. No store full of inventory, just order parts as needed.  I love doing computers, it's all I ever want to do. and when I get bored or don't have any work to do (like today) I can just relax and pursue other hobbies, like.....  this.  http://www.purevolume.com/djfaxxer  just for kicks. (no, i don't dress like that, I was in costume for a play I was in)

If I am having a busy day and one of my kids need me to pick them up from school, I tell my customer that I'm going to have to be back later, and take the rest of the day off to be with my kid.  I still get calls from my very first customer from over ten years ago.  I be myself, charge fairly, and my customers see the passion in doing what I love....so they tell their friends.  I don't even advertise except once in a blue moon in the local classified paper (2 times in ten years only)

I pursue property investments with my father's business.  It's more work in terms of buying and doing house remodels, but the income is great with that also.  bigger chunks of pay at the end of that rainbow, but in the end i'm always sitting at my pc doing what I love by day's end.

    I LOVE my job!

    Yes.  Count yourself lucky.

Brings to mind that nice little quote from Fight Club something like, "working jobs we hate to buy shit we don't need"     Ah well,  can't win everytime.

My ideal career is being a rockstar. i would like to spend my life creating and sharing our music to the entire universe. i would like to be put into the music or rock and roll hall of fame list and i want to be respected and recognized by other people through my music!!!

  • FaxxerFaxxer Member Posts: 3,247

Get yourself into a band and start playing music then my friend!  Another person from your country recently became a rock star... Lead singer for Journey, perhaps you've heard of him?  He sings quite well! (at least I think he's from your country)

I used to do what I love, but decided to move on to experience other aspects of life.  I think it's neat to be able to say I've done this, this, that, almost did this, etc.  And by that I mean jobs that are rather off the wall or random.  In the end I think it makes me a more well-rounded person to have experienced all these different facets of life.

As soon as I read this all I could think of was a mash between Wyld Stallyns and that Daft Punk song "One More Time."

    i want to be a songwriter/composer/lyricist

    I saw my pride

    It was naked and blinded

Took off for a better journey

    Left me down and lonely

Men of mere blood and fears

    Rain fell like tears

    Should i open my eyes

So i could see the scent of lies?

    Tiles of a heart

    Broken, it was torn apart

    Your whisper seemed so cold

Unaware as i have been told

    Drenched yet i'm so dry

Life just told me it died

    Light served as shade

    Be gone, don't just fade

i hope you'll like this guy. tell me your opinions! :D
