revovled around combat

first off let me say that all this is MY OPINION and in no way of saying it is a fact. it might sound like it but i only typed it like this to heighten the emotional contact to it. emotional contact NOT ANGER. 10 points to who can figure out what movie that is from.
everything in this game revolves around combat. think about it you know its true. i think it is common sense but if you can prove me wrong feel free to. unfortunately though the combat in this game is not that good. i mean who seriously enjoys clicking on an enemy and play wack a mole till one of you is dead? oh i forgot about the bunny hoppin that really serves no purpose in the combat. so why is it that this is the most popular mmo? beats me. i think it is because there is so much stuff for you to do and it takes a good amount of time to do it. you cant even get to max lvl unless you spend like a month on a character. im talkin about normal people who play a couple hours a day at the least not the i have no life 5 hours a day people. if you think 5 hours a day is normal think about this, a normal person works about 8 hours a day plus 5 hours for your game equals 13 hours, 8 hours of sleep equals up to 21 and those extra 4 hours i hope are for eating and stuff like that. sad if this is you isnt it? im just messin around lighten up people. back to my topic, so you level up your dude to 80 now and you still have a bunch to do with that character. you got 4 hour dungeons to raid and farm the hell out of the monsters and resources to make some gold. everything in this game takes a good amount of time to do. dont expect to do anything in half an hour. then your friend wants to play with you so you gotta make another character and start all over. and it just keeps going and going and going.
my point is yall are not really having fun at all. your just proud of yourself for putting all that time in this game which is brainwashing you to make you think you have accomplished something. someone could have just as much fun playing a 15 minute match on call of duty or halo. that person could play the same map over 10 times and spend as much time playing matches on it as someone in one dungeon. why? because the combat in those games is fun and fast pace.
look at it this way if your still not convince. what is the difference between combat on this game and the rts games before it? you hop around and only control one person. play warcraft 3 and play this game you know its true.

Games are played for fun man
It's ok to spend a couple of hours a day doing something that isn't "useful", if it's enjoyable - that's what hobbies are, that's what "fun" is
And bunnyhopping, circle strafing etc do have a purpose, both in WoW and in Warhammer - it's to put the opponent off balance, potentially prevent them hitting your character, and also for some cases in order to keep dodging/parrying/blocking
Who the hell are you to tell me whether i am enjoying my free time or not??? You know me do you? You know how i use my gametime? You know what my gameplay preferances are??
NO, is the answer to all of the above questions as the would be about me to you. "I" will be the one to decide about how i spend my free time and "I" will decide whether i am enjoying my game time or not.
Personally i enjoy the social aspects of the game and i prefer to have a nice chat with my guild mates about how they are doing that day and how their families are than being screamed at by some idiot in another country because i missed a frag/capture point/attack opportunity etc...
Each to their own at the end of the day.

oh but it does. what do you do with your minerals and herbs? make potions, weapons and armor which are all things used in combat.
if you like the social part of it you can always go into chatrooms without paying 15bucks a month or go into teamchat or whatever. if you dont want to be yelled at then mute the person or turn off your mic not that hard my friend.
i am not telling you what you like and dont like, im just letting you understand this game better. i know it sounds like that but i did it like that to make it more dramatic. the bottom line is this game is all about the combat and if you dont like the combat then why are you playing it? i hear people all the time complaining about combat and pvp sucks in this game and it goes on and on my question is why you playing it then? everything you do is to aid you in combat or to do combat so why bother?
The feeling I got from the game was it revolved around the following 3 things:
1. Stamina
2. Attack/Spell Power
3. Resilience
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
1-i only did it like that to make it more dramatic. if everyone posts stuff like this game sucks because i believe it sucks and noone should play this game because i am the ruler of the universe i could post a i think you all play this because of this. i dont take any post seriously but at least i have somewhat of a point in them.
2-EVERY GAME is get the other guy before he gets you. fps are just more fun because you actually can control it instead of waiting for calculations like in warcraft. i have this much attack damage and that guy has this much defense and agility and lets roll dice to see if i hit him and so on.
3-i guess you have not played warcraft 3 then. look how they attack and imagine wow without all the bunny hoppin. the COMBAT is almost identical there are just more moves in wow. i am comparing the COMBAT not the whole games.
I don't understand why you keep bringing up the bunny hopping in WoW and then talk about how the combat in Halo or what not is so much better. You realize that bunny hopping started with FPS games, right? The only people who do it in WoW are those that think it gives them some kind of advantage in this game as well, or the ones who are actually using it skill-wise. By that I mean rogues and such which could be trying to jump behind the person for specific attacks.

A great deal of the game is combat related, but there are things where you gather, talk to someone, or whatever. I have fun with this game, and I have fun with FPS, but the problem with a FPS is that I'll get bored of it sooner than I will a MMORPG because the MMORPG has more to offer.

warcrafts bunny hoppin is pointless unless your a rogue like you said. even if you get out of the way, they still have a chance to hit you cause its all based on calculations. it makes more sense in halo cause your trying to get out of the way of the bullets. i do not like halo that much i just use it as an example cause more people are familiar to it then other games. i would much like to see at least flips or something when you jump instead of looking stiff when you jump.
Ahh gotcha. You can always roll a female Night Elf for the super-cool sumersault!

. I kinda understand what you are trying to say, but the fact is that... no one likes to get themselves enlightened...Personally I feel this game gets far too much credit (subscriptions and praise) for what its worth
. Not that WoW is a bad game... ..Although, I am pretty sure that atleast 3 million players are playing this game coz everyone else is playing it
, while a few others are continuing coz they already invested time here and they'd not want to start all over in a new MMORPG, especially when most of the recent ones are copy cats (although WoW is a polished copy mixture).
I play Counterstrike, i play Battlefield 2, i play call of duty and i have played the whole of the C&C series, but i also play and enjoy WOW.
You are not "letting me understand the game better" you are trying to convince people to see the game from your point of view, well guess what, people have different points of view. I enjoy the combat in WOW, but i also enjoy playing the auctions, socialising with my guild mates, standing on the edge of a large lake and doing a little fishing, running a few dungeons, helping out new players and so on...and if i choose to pay £9/month to do it that is my choice.
As for being dramatic, well it didn't come across in that way at all and this is a forum not an acting class, if you have a point make it and debate it.

what is wrong with trying to convince people to see your view? isnt that what your doing?
as for the dramatic if people can post this game sucks and noone should play this game without any proof i can put a little emotion in my post.

I play because I enjoy the gameplay and the social aspect. Sure I could go read a book, watch a movie, go to a bar ... but are these pursuits any more constructive? Or any less of a time sink?
As soon as I stop enjoying a hobby I quit. I've quit WoW many times before, but I eventually come back to it sooner or later. I realise that one day there will come a time when I don't come back for whatever reason. But until that day, I will continue to enjoy it.

i dont even know where you got this from so i am not gonna comment on it. all i am gonna say is i am trying to let you people see a different point of view on this game.
i give more than enough reason for my argument. i said everything revolves around combat which it does and i even asked for people to prove me wrong. the combat is not fun because of the bunny hopping and playing wackamole until one dies. i am not gonna write my whole argument here but i hope you get the point i have backed up all i said. all you did was compare me with a piece of cheese which made me hungry.

That is not trying to convince people, that is dictating how people should feel as if they are somehow incapable of understanding without your help. Your entire post is dismissive of anyone who might even try to disagree with you by saying things like that as if only you are qualified to discuss this topic.
Perhaps you are wrong with your internet psychological diagnosis of millions and millions of people, their reasons and motives for having a hobby and how/why they play it. Perhaps you are just a pretentious know-it-all that has convinced himself he knows more about everyone else than they do themselves.
Good luck with that. Have fun trying to "convince" others of your "view" and please don't act all offended when people call you out for your antics.
P.S. I expect to see this same post in every other fantasy MMO forum, because they all are combat driven games right?

As for holes, well your whole "wackamole" statement is wrong off the bat. I am not saying that wow is to be compared to a great military campaign but you do need different tactics for different fights depending on what character you are playing and what character you are fighting against. At it's most basic, if i am a rogue i need to get in close and try and stop my opponent from doing anything while i do damage, where as if i am playing my mage i need to keep my opponent at a distance while i build my damage.
As for some of your other statements;

I accomplished things by getting a good education, achieving the respect of my workmates, marrying a good woman, having great kids, whereas wow is just a game to pass free time.
Don't presume to understand how or why people play a particular game just because you don't enjoy it (we are of course assuming there that you have even played wow, which of course we don't know), just accept the fact that some people will enjoy this game and some won't.

unfortunately after i wrote this i remembered the noncombat pets i was waiting how long before someone says it. yea i was wrong my bad. the pets do nothing anyway except follow you.
who says i am offended? honustly i think you all are taking this too seriously. lighten up people its just one persons opinion if you dont like it say why but let me say i do not appreciated the insults. im talkin about the comments that pretty much say i am stupid for making this post.
im sorry but i do not feel like arguin with you anymore about the SAME thing. this is your whole argument, i am telling you how your not liking this game yet you play it. that is not true i am telling you my opinion as to why people play it. i only said things like you are brainwashed so you can understand better. if you enjoy it fine but let us discuss why some do and some dont it is not a crime. its not like im predicting the second coming of jesus.
stradegy in this game is who has the better equipment which is who spent more time in the game. when you get people who have EQUAL level of equipment then we can actually have tactics and stradegy. when i say wackamole i mean how the animations are. get two warriors together and you will see how they take turns hitting each other till one dies. it is the same as in warcraft 3. other games like guildwars or age of conan the characters are more fluent in their attacks. now i will say this warcraft is better than final fantasy 11 in combat. the characters in that game look so bored when fighting.
Strategy in this game as with a lot of others is more than just the equipment you carry as you could have the best gear in the game but if you don't know how to talent spec you characters and use it's abilities properly then you will fail most of the time regardless.
On top of that, time in the game is also no measure of how well you will do in combat, especially in PvP. I have been in the game since release but i am not a PvP'er so i would more than expect to be pounded into the ground by someone who has only played for 6 months but is a PvP dedicated player.
OK, i will give you the whack-a-mole thing if you are looking at two warriors bashing away at each other, but what about any other number of combinations fighting?? How about a hunter taking on a mage, or a priest taking on a Warlock and so on...

You first version of this post was littered with insults and designed to beat people over the head for not changing their views to yours. You belittled anyone who might disagree with you by generalizing them as brainwashed and things of that nature.
Then you edit out comments from your "opinion", because you realized people called you out for exactly what you intended.
Now you are trying to play victom from people being mean in response to a situation you created. The old saying applies here so well, treat people how you want to be treated. This isn't some case of you just stating an opinion. This is a case of you insulting millions of people in an attempt to make yourself feel right.
Sorry if everyone didn't join your campfire, sing your praises and things didn't work out as you becoming the hero you envisioned, but lets not pretend your intentions in this thread were noble and meant to have meaningful discussion in any rational fashion.
Well the last time i checked, i payed for the monthly subscription to the games i played. I dont see what gives you the right to tell me what games i can or cannot enjoy. You wanna spend 15 minutes playing call of duty or halo, by all means, do.
i dont get the talent thing honustly. to me to improve ones technique you have to actually do that technique. this is why i am against levels but that is another argument. so you buy a technique from a guy who in no way even shows you how to peform that technique and you level up and have the possibility of never usin that technique and put a talent point in it so your better at it now. makes no sense to me. then you want to play as a different type of player so you have to pay to loose your memory basically so you can put the points in other places.i have the willpower to forget myself thank you very much.
i like to get up close and personal. i only play as melee classes. i dont pay attention to magic users or whatever unless they arnt healing me which i get quite upset. pretty much i cant comment on that.
maybe if i say it this time your get it. all i am trying to do is express my opinion on why people play this game. it is up to your own free will to agree or disagree. i only put in all the you stuff to get you involved in it more not to force you into it. please do not take this seriously as it is only a post after all.
